Smith performing as I expected when he got his feet under the table and his ideas across. Imagine how he will be when he can bring his own players in...

We missed a massive trick in the summer.

Was mine and a lot of other baggies choice for the job in the summer, aint surprised to see him doing well. As I have said before,  I cant see past Villa winning the playoffs on current form.

James Shan gets a special award for working bravery - working with our board and some of the older players!

Presumably he's handed it straight to Jack Grealish?

You need to stop living in the past and embrace the managerial brilliance in the present  ;)

When he gets results without Grealish I'll acknowledge he's done well. Until then every statistic suggests he's utterly clueless without him.

Here's hoping young Greasy pulls his quiff in training and proves you right regarding all things Vile then, for once  ;) .

Leeds as good as promoted with Norwich.  They play Wigan at home next so surely 3 points from that one.  Norwich and Leeds deserve it IMO.

Both appointed good managers and are planning for the long term. We had a massive financial and squad ability advantage over both, but we barely have a plan for the next week.

Nothing will happen - expecting some sales at Sheff Wed in the summer - plenty out of contract who will be taken off the wagebill.

In general terms - you cannot have financial fair play and parachute payments at the same time.

It is a ridiculous, unfair concept.

Scrap both of them.

FFP and Parachute Payments are inadequate responses to the same inherent problem that up and down the pyramid there are disproportionate rewards and penalties for marginal success or failure. This generates a gambling mentality to attain the fools gold of the "next level" and also white knuckle fear of falling off whatever gravy train that your club happens to be riding at any given moment.

I refer to the next level as fools gold because even having attained it the owners are very unlikely to be able to take any funds out of the club because they need to spend money to retain the club's status. Progress on the pitch can be cashed in through a sale but seldom through dividends. The Glazers are the only people to consistently take money out of a football club and that football club is Man United which was already a financial juggernaut before the Glazers turbo charged it's commercial operations.

It is plain that football clubs can't be left to their own devices financially hence FFP which has head off some of the worst excesses but obviously hasn't prevented the financial meltdown of clubs like Bolton and is a bone of contention particularly when clubs like Derby are allowed to flout the rules with faurly obvious ruses.

So, all the local media hoohaa, last summer, about the vile going into financial meltdown if they didn’t get promoted this season, was just a tease? As some would say, it’s the hope that kills ya.
