Watford were at home. Still a good result though.
And it was 0-0 until Blues had a bloke sent of in the 88th minute.
Only bet I would have on Wednesday is another 0-0.

Yes, thanks.  This needed clarifying. Blockchain is a technology; crypto uses blockchain to carry its transactions. You can have blockchain without crypto. You can’t have crypto without blockchain.
Which brings me to what’s in this investment for Chesnais. My guess is that football offers potential for expansion of blockchain in all kinds of areas: ticketing, sponsorship, contracts, scouting and inevitably,  gambling. There must be many others. Maybe, just maybe, WBA might be a foot in the door, thin end of the wedge, suck it and see - choose your metaphor - vehicle for blockchain application. Just a thought.
It's certainly a long way from sheds!

Dings in trouble. Agent Dawson at work..............tried to get himself sent off yesterday, but encouraged two others instead
Apparently, the manager wanted them in on Sunday but players revolted because of Mother's Day and refused. Dawson was the main protagonist.
My mate has a relative who's ITK and says all is not well.

Solid if tedious performance, very slow in the build up and lacking a killer pass.

Griffiths and the back 4 all did well under little pressure.

Yokuslu and Molumby both very good with the former MotM for me, yet again.

Ahead of that is where the problem lies. It could be argued that all of Wallace, Reach and Swift had, individually, decent games, but, as a collective they just didn't click and the common denominator, unfortunately, is Dike. He struggles to hold the ball up, goes to ground too easy and just doesn't seem to have that striker's hunger to get on the end of things or make runs and take risks. No faulting his will, but I think he still lacks a bit of confidence. For this reason, I was disappointed not to see one of the young strikers get a run out, but I suspect it is because BTA is close to a return.

Points over performance at the minute though so well done boys for securing a vital victory.

I think we need 2 wins if we want to go into the run in with any real chance - only 4 more home games after Huddersfield I think, and if we can't beat them the state they are in right now we don't deserve to be anywhere near it.  Cardiff will be a different matter, they are usually solid at home and our players are knackered, squad down to bare bones, it will be hard to take 3 points there.
2 wins gives us a real chance.
With Norwich and Milwall still to play, we would be in a strong position.

If we cannot loan out Button, we have to loan out JG.

I am not convinced that he should be our number 2 next season, as I think he needs to play as much football as he can, and hopefully in the championship, with a immediate recall option in his loan agreement.
Tend to agree with this, as tough as it is. If Palmer is number 1, then Josh will be wasted sitting on our bench.
Trouble is, any injury to Palmer and we go back to having a hologram in goal.

Can see both sides really, as he can be frustrating at times, losing the ball in key areas, often trying a trick or flick, or not standing up to interceptions.

His qualities far outweigh his frailties for me though. He runs his heart out, never scared to have a pop and he is the best crosser we have had for years.

In the mix with Okay for PotS. IMO.

Terrible game to watch, but it's the points that count. If we win the play off final, at Wembley, no-one will say "yeah, but we were rubbish against Wigan"  :)

Griffiths, OShea, Okay and Dike the pick, which shows we have a good spine.
We definitely need to be more clinical though, both Swift and especially OShea missed absolute sitters, and too often we pass when we should shoot and shoot when we should pass.

Would take another rubbish 1-0 on Saturday, but think we need a decent away win to really get the confidence back and settle the nerves, so Cardiff is the key.

Same team that beat Middlesbrough, Albrighton on for Diang. Hopefully no other changes or style of play.

Malcolm to come for Dike around 80 minute mark.
Like to see TGH come in for Albrighton but suspect it will be Reach
Chalobah in okay/mulumby.

Hopefully game we look to win early on then park the bus.... We don't have many game changers on the bench.

Or maybe we do in Malcolm or Richards.
Let's face it, Diangana, Reach, Grant etc. have offered little when coming on, maybe these kids have the hunger and desire that might just change a game? Either way it's a massive chance for both of them, hope they take it.

Having a keeper the defence feel confidence in is huge. Looking more assured with each game.
Definitely.
You can see his confidence growing and the defence feels more at ease. I hope Palmer struggles to get back in. Not because I don't rate him, i absolutely do, but I think we have 2 of the best young keepers in the league and if Josh does well he deserves to make Alex fight for his place.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: David Button
« on: February 15, 2023, 01:57:50 PM »
Playing Button in effect means our centre halves have to deal with absolutely everything because there is no trust in the goalkeeper to come and help them out.

We cannot have the anxiety running around the ground as they approach our box. Its not good for Button, the other players nor the supporters.

The reaction against Coventry - though it meant well and showed a good spirit amongst the group - said everything we need to know about their opinions of him
Which, in turn, puts pressure on the midfield and thus stifles the forwards, which is what happened against Blues, even before the first goal.

Am I right in thinking that Griffiths has always been rated above Palmer by the coaches? If so then no reason why he can't be thrown in. He has almost 100 senior games under his belt already.
113 since 2020, Button has played 24 in the same period.

It really is a no brainer.

Our chances of promotion hinge on GRiffiths now. Can't be worse, but needs to step up and save our season.
CC needs to show strength above loyalty now, this team cannot play in front of Button.

Corberan learned quick after his first game why Livermore wasn't useful for the side, hopefully he has learned just as quick that Button shouldn't even be in match day squads. I would genuinely take any of the academy keepers in goal instead of him. He's just so bad and slow at everything.

I am amazed he's only 33, he has the reaction time and agility of someone twice that age. We will not even finish top half if he stays in goal, he's really that bad. It's impossible with a keeper who concedes one in every two shots, and is unable to even catch the ball.

Just him playing spreads fear through the entire side. Everyone knows he's not professional standard. Our players know it, the opposition know it. Button knows it. Rarely do you see a team treat the keeper like Birmingham did today, it was sunday league shoot on sight at the keeper stuff.
Spot on.
He kills everything good about this side. The defence has no confidence in him, so, the midfield have no confidence in the defence. This means the forwards get no service,

Drop[ him and we get back on track.

Darren Witcoop

West Brom have fielded loan enquiries for striker Karlan Grant but will only consider sanctioning any deal if a replacement is found #WBA

No surprise, he absolutely does not fit in with CC tactics at all
TGH is a better option on the left, keep him and loan Grant.

Not sure how anyone can look at that and not understand why he's been banned
It's the retro bit that's contentious. If it had been spotted in real time, no one would take issue, IMO.
Elbows fly about week in week out, many far worse than this one, without triggering a retro ban, so the question has to be, why this one? The only out of the ordinary factor is it being highlighted by Murphy and the beeb, so would be naive to think it didn't contribute to the outcome.

Reading winning 4 games is enough justification to show Bruce HAS to get more out of these players even without any new signings.

Look at Readings squad.

We expect better!!
Should we poach Ince then?

1-1

Someone is a little touchy. How many times this season have we been the better side? As for playing football, last time I checked knocking it around on the half way line meant very little. We have done nothing in their box of note, save for Grady missing a big chance.
You are never happier or more vocal than when we are losing. Grow up.

Glad the team tonight have shown their world class ability after being held back from Val's prehistoric management style. All looking rosey.
Grow up, we were the better side until captain chaos jumped in and played more football than the previous 2 games put together.

Every cloud and all that.
This could be 4 or 5 now and it will be on his head.

Awful challenge from an awful player, cost us yet again. Captain Caveman.
He must have some sort of record for first half sendings off, he is just an absolute liability.
