Interesting if you subscribe. I cannot see it!!

You could try temporarily disabling java script in your settings, refresh and it may appear.  Works for some pay walls.  Just make sure you remember to re-enable Java or it will mess up other websites.  You could always assign a separate browser for this purpose.

Hypothetically. I really wouldn't know.  ;D

Brum Mail say club have backed him with another backroom addition named Rafael Aranda.

"Rafael Aranda has been brought in in a consultancy role, borrowed from Universitat de Valencia, and with him he brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the fields of physical activity and sports science, degrees in which he teaches."

I am sure the current bounce is primarily due to Corberan, but interesting since this guy came on board.  12 games, 19 goals scored, 8 conceded and 22 points gained.

Interesting body of work on 'Research Gate' assuming the same guy. Number of 'papers' on scoring opportunities and offensive play.  Maybe Corberan has now identified that weakness:

Interestingly seems to be another coach who is primarily trained as a coach, an has not particularly played the game.  It makes me wonder if part of getting rid of Walsh is to get in a coach who shares Corberan's outlook.

As a matter of interest, what was the trick?

Cuts in from the left, shoots straight at the keeper.  Occasionally though he would miss the keeper.

Can anyone remember the last opposition player banned retrospectively against Albion ?

They seem to get them lifted or reduced, like Sibley, Cameron and Fabregas.

This has been posted on twitter, where a player throws BTA to the ground and appears to lunge at him with his foot. Not clear enough to call it a stamp, and in any case he misses. Does look suspicious, though and maybe intended as retribution.

BTA definitely caught their player with his elbow, that is beyond doubt. However I don't think it was intentional which is surely the point.
The reason I don't think it was intentional is that at no point does BTA look to see where their player is, he is swinging his arm in the way you would do if you were trying to free yourself from someone grabbing your shirt and finally and crucially the reaction from other players is non existent, especially the player that was elbowed, he doesn't jump to his feet to confront BTA.

The images that I've seen are so unclear that it's hard to make out what has happened but the BBC are going off yet another slow motion replay and we all know how much worse things look in slow motion.

Sadly I do expect BTA to get a 3 match ban though.

He tries to use the incident to use up time, which to be fair any player would have done at that stage in the game, and that is what cost his team the game.  The BBC highlights shows him sitting in the penalty area with his hand to the opposite cheek to the one BTA had would have caught.

A bit more convincing than 'I fancy a crack at that.'

I'll support him and wish him luck but I'm really not sure about him.  There is a lot to like about much of the stuff you read about him but this Bielsa Disciple also seems to be overplayed. He only spent 2 years with him and was already at Leeds.

Huddesfield finished 18th in 2019/20, their first season after relegation. Corberan took over and managed the whole of 2020/2021 and they finished 20th.  It seems to me some people seem unaware he managed that season or think he took over part way through.  He was very luck not to get sacked that year.

2021/2022 he did an amazing job, no doubt about that but it was one season and maybe everything just clicked. He may have learnt a lot though. It was certainly progress which is what you want to see and I'll be happy to trust progress on the eyes even if results are sketchy. I dont know if that was the case at Huddesfield and you could see it was better than results appeared the season before.

At Olympiacos he also struggled at the start. We will never know if he could have turned it around but we do know they've won 3 and lost one in the league (which was to another big Greek club - PAOK) since he left. I appreciate Greek clubs seem to be basket cases though. I've heard podcasts where players have spoke about what its like and it seems crazy.

Whatever anyone is saying about patience now though, it is easy to say it at the moment and I am sure people said it about VI.  If we finish lower than 16th people will want him out, if we are relegated he certainly leaves.

Hopefully we see some positive signs before the world cup but we play 6 games after we return and before the window opens (including new year). They look crucial in terms of not only us showing signs of improvement, but him buying some patience.

My understanding is that 20/21 was a pragmatic, make do season and as you suggest, many managers may not have survived it.  21/22 he vastly changed the regular starting 11 and changed system, think he went 3 at the back, but patched the side up with loans etc.  I am hoping that season is more representative of what he is about, but I don't think it will be all plain sailing.  I do think we need to give him time.

After an extensive recruitment process we are excited to announce Alex Bruce as our new manager :)

Alex brings with him experienced coaching staff, possessing a total of a 1,000 games in charge.

Probably what Gourlay is scouring as we speak  ;D

Well the one small mercy is that they have omitted Paul Jewell!

So basically from the stats we now have the worst shot stopper in the Championship this century. You couldn’t make it up could you .

You are doing him an injustice. That should be 'this millennium'!

West Bromwich Albion dressing room:

'Excuse me? What is this running back thing you speak of? Does it have anything to do with effort, covering teammates and tracking those players on the other team? Can't say we're entirely happy about that. Down tools, (loud whistle sound) EVERYBODY OUT!'.

Our managers have become like supply teachers trying to oversee an unruly class.  There is only ever one winner.

Open Air concert in May at the Hawthorns - is this part of the Ron Gourlay initiative to increase revenue streams?

Wonderful.  Maybe they could have a picture of the different managers from the last x number of years each time they sing the phrase 'Another one bites the dust'.

I'm still waiting for Rowan Vine and Maxim Shatsikh to turn up...

Rowan Vine, the lad Bruce signed for Birmingham after Tom Ross told him we were about to sign him? First big favour he did us!

Bruce mentioned in his website interview that he had previously worked with five of the squad. I presume he means Townsend and Livermore (Hull) Johnson (Villa) Reach (Wednesday) and Carroll (Newcastle).  More than I thought, initially. Hopefully accelerates his bond with the players, although I suspect that will be one of his strengths. Doubt he worked too much with Townsend. Curious what he got out of Reach. Wednesday certainly got a bounce with him in charge.

Robert snodgrass

Most Albion thing ever to resign him on £20 grand a week, with his payoff still secure in his back pocket!   ;D

Right now Bruce is the equivalent of a reset button.  The board tried something new and 'long term' and got their fingers burned.  Hopefully he will be able to re-group and re-focus the players.  The problem is we are forever pressing the reset button.  Hopefully they are working on plans for summer (depending how the season ends) with more longevity.

I think they definitely will mate. I dread the next home game if Val stays, it's going to be horrible.

Yep, Snodgrass chants/songs incoming.

Genuinely stunned at what is going on at the club, we've done stupid things in the past but this is beyond even our levels.

To not even issue any sort of statement is just making the whole situation worst. I work in media PR and this is a textbook case of how you don't handle a situation. We really are a mess.

Yep.  We really are in back him or sack him territory. Silence is only fueling the anger.

Please copy the article, do not just put a link

Spaniard Javier Pereira is in contention to take charge of West Brom, who were forced to re-open their search for a new head coach after David Wagner turned them down, TEAMtalk understands.

The Baggies had narrowed down their search to Wagner after a move for Chris Wilder was vetoed by the club’s owners, whilst they decided against the likes of Michael Appleton. But after agreeing terms with the former Huddersfield boss, Wagner instead decided to take charge of Swiss champions Young Boys.

Now the club have dispensed with the services of sporting director Luke Dowling and are relying on Chinese chief executive Xu Ke. Ke has been looking at his options and we understand they are keen on Pereira.

Former Fulham sporting director Pereira has impressed hugely in China, as he performed miracles in keeping Henan Jianye in the top-flight.

That has brought him to the attention of the club’s owners, who will have a big say in the next boss – as they have proved when they ruled out the appointment of Wilder.

Sheffield United held talks with Pereira but instead went for Slavisa Jokanovic, who ironically worked with Pereira at Craven Cottage.

West Brom are now looking closely Pereira, who is ready to move back to Europe, and England where he has a very good reputation within the game.

And no place more so than Fulham, who we understand are also interested in him – with Scott Parker set for an imminent exit.

Also spent a few months as Assistant Director of Football Operations at Fulham according to his Wicki page.  Maybe he will get both posts and one his first jobs will be to sack himself.

So if wilder was the man for the board and the owner said no on the basis of his exit from Sheffield how was this not understood months ago. It was not exactly a secret the wilder had a public disagreement with the owner of SU, so how did we interview a man the owner would not appoint. More to the point who did we interview? Wagner supposedly interviewed but got a better offer/ won’t come. Did We only interview managers out of work with no lasting compensation issues or are we interviewing everybody so the owner can feel good about having the power to veto anyone he feels like. It looks like the board and owner are totally disconnected and playing games.

Add to which: 2019 we try to entice Wilder away from Sheffield United because he has fallen out with the owners.  2021 we reject Wilder as a free agent as he fell out with SUFC owners.
