I think the personal issue hit him alot harder than anyone could have forseen.

Plus, he's not had a 6-8 game run in one position, which i think he needed, but obviosuly we couldn't afford.

I'd like to see him get the last 3 or so games in the hole position Cox is currently in. (stop sniggering).

Dorrans will be fine, it was just a pore year for him personally, but he'll comebacvk fine next year.
Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

But in the premier league it is much more difficult

I don't think it is. The other star from last season's Championship Charlie Adam has actually played much better in the Premier League, same with Carroll and even players like Mulumbu and Olsson for us.

Dorrans showed away to Stoke that he can run the show in this league, he just hasn't shown it consistently this season. He'll be like a new £6 million signing next season though and maybe the last few games of this..

Dorrans has got class written all over him, he has had bad luck this season on and off the pitch but will come good when over these injuries he keeps getting.Really will be like a new signing for next season.

Nail on the head for me. Our most naturally talented player in my opinion, extremely excited for what he can do next season providing we stay up 8)

I think at the start of the season he seemed to be either over awed and/or over confident which lead to some of his performances being lack luster and not up to the standard we had come to expect however before getting injured i think we were seeing the reall dozza, the one who oozes class and to sum up why i think he was back to his best just remember the ball he played through to vela at stoke in the last second of the game where we nearly won it
I hate stoke, i hate newcastle more than i hate stoke, i hate andy carrol more than i hate newcastle, i hate v*lla more than i hate andy carrol but i hate the dingles most of all. Albion till i die

In a way I'm glad he hasn't had an amazing all guns blazing season. Obviously feel for him with personal issues and injuries but at least we've stayed up without a player of his quality for a lot of games AND other teams may not take the gamble on a big money offer in the summer.

Also think RDM didn't really use him as much as he should as RDM seemed to have a boner for Jimmy Mozza.

I don't think so, in the games where he has been injury free and without and personal issues he has played well, Stoke. West Ham and Blues spring to mind. As unfortunate as it is he hasn't been fit for long enough periods and has had matters away from the Albion which have needed dealing with. Could play into our hands as he hasn't had much opportunity to put himself in the shop window this season and we all know what he is capable of when he comes back firing for next year.

It depends on what your expectation was!   If you expected him to come from the scottish leagues and one decent championship season to boss the middle of the park in the premier league then yes! He has however, at times, shown he is more than capable of holding his own and should become a huge asset to someone given time and patience.

Maybe, although Mulumbu and Charlie Adam have both made the step up with ease.

The player I saw last season had it all and I still think if we can get him back with a clear head and no injuries then he will kick on. He has as much talent as Koumas but with more to his game and he seemed to have the right attitude. Next season could be a big year for him,

I dont think he's as talented as koumas, but thats nothing against Dorrans.  Koumas could have been anything he wanted to be.

He'll be quality next season. Niggling injuries, played as a DM and personal problems have made his season stop start. He still oozes quality though, even when he is playing badly if you know what i mean?

Next season will be his year.

Yep, Koumas had all the talent in the world, he could've played for one Europe's top teams IMO. The only thing that stopped him from being a household name was his attitude. Koumas just didn't seem to care, he lacked ambition and determination and the willingness to put in the hard work to become a great player. Dorrans isn't as talented as Koumas, but in terms of attitude he strikes me as the opposite of Koumas. Dorrans seems like the sort of player who's ambitious and determined to get better and better, and wants to work hard to become a great player. Hence why I believe Dorrans will have a much much much grander career than Koumas.

In terms of this season, we probably were expecting a bit too much on him. But I do think he's been unlucky. Of course he had his personal issues which would hit any person extremely hard, he's been unlucky with injuries and RDM never gave him much of a chance in his best position due to his infatuation with Morrisson. Hodgson will bring the best out of him and I'm sure he'll be a big player next season.

I don't think we've been unfair, in general, personally, I don't think he's really shone this season and has had a fair few indifferent games.

However, the goal against United was a beauty and he's also shown signs of coming to the boil at times, only to miss a series of games afterward.

He's had a very stop start season and has done OK on occasion.

I think it a bit of a discredit to other players, who have shined this year, though, to say he's been superb.

Still, as I said, the lads had a stop start season and I think next year will be very telling about where he ultimately fits in, in the grand scheme of things.

I look forward to seeing what he can do under Roy next year.

Hasn't had a poor season at all. Can't think of any bad games from him tbh...

Just hasn't got as many goals.

There were huge expectations heaped on Dorrans before the start of the season. It wasn't difficult to see why- he was outstanding for us in the champ, dictating games and scoring goals by the hatful.

When West Ham made a couple of bids it elevated him to a status where we thought "hang on, we've got the real deal here!". Undoubtedly Prem class in my opinion, he's had his personal problems (whatever they were) and time missed through injury as many have pointed out.

If he puts that behind him we will have a fantastic young player, and (I hate to say it) a very saleable asset!

:P Looking forward for his return hopefully against the dingles, i was just thinking can Dorrans play on the right side of midfield instead of  Thomas, i think he has played there 1 or 2 times and i would like him to play on the right more than the center behind Pete, With his pace and tekkers :D am sure he would cause Left backs problems, and he can cross a ball perfectly better than thomas, remember QPR at home, i think or Forrest not to sure, and he crossed it to Bednar what a ball that was.

Dorrans                       Cox/Morrison/Vela                   Brunt  ?

I reckon we'll eventually see Morrison on the wing over Thomas. Dorrans would be wasted on the wing, lets be honest.

Not saying he should play there, but I'm sure he played as a winger/striker for Livingston.

Also, With Vela behind Pete would be deadly.

I feel that Roy's teams may possibly get a lot narrower with time, right and left midfield players, rather than out and out wingers.

I could be wrong.

Dorrans is our playmaker, he needs to be in the middle of the park to dictate the play.

He played on the wing on numerous occasions for Livi, and Partick. I'm not sure he would fill his potential out on the wing.
