Sky Live Games
« on: October 05, 2012, 11:29:02 AM »
The next batch of sky fixtures have come out.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11096/8140098/Festive-fixtures

Our fixture changes:  Sun Dec 16 WBA v West Ham (4pm)
                                  Tue Jan 1    WBA v Fulham (12.45)

3 years running now we have been at home at 12.45 on new years day, its ridiculous. No one at all wants to be there and the atmosphere is dead!

Can't quite believe that now, early new years day kick off 3 years consecutively and Fulham; why the hell would they want to televise that!

I'll be surprised if we get 20,000!

I don't really understand why they've put our game with West Ham on the TV. Oh wait I do, it's because they need to have West Ham on every week. I don't understand the obsession with them, they play dire football under Big Sam and they are not a big club yet are on the telly seemingly every week.

And an early kick off again New Years Day is just ridiculous.

Be lucky if there are more than 500 Fulham fans present.................

organised boycott? or synchronised arrival at 12.44!!This is just getting ridiculous, would be almost understandable if it was against high profile opposition, total joke and it needs to be pointed out to the powers that be in no uncertain terms.

There must be some reason for them constantly choosing us for 12:45 on New Year's Day. Its certainly not chosen for entertainment reasons. I'm sick of it now. Having to get up early to go to the game does limit the previous night's celebrations, and the game always turns out to be dire.

Gee thanks Sky they never show us on more than the minumum 10 times during the season at roughly £0.5m a go and the scheduling for West Ham Fulham and Southampton proably has taken a minimum of £300,000 off our gate reciepts across the 3 matches.

If it was the Villa I would understand, but its only Fulham, surley there must be a more attractive game on paper to show instead.

Getting up at 6.45am to watch us inevitably wave the white flag like last year? Not a chance.

I have just seen Moose from Talksport has tweeted than West Ham games for 1st, 8th and 15th December (including 15th versus Albion) have all been put back to 4pm the next day (2nd, 9th, 16th) which would indicate they are all on TV!

Havent something like 4 of their first 6 games been on TV, as well as by the sounds of it the 3 in December and thats not including when they may be on TV in october and november.

I am not sure where Sky get there info from but i dont think your average football fan would choose West Ham as their team of choice to watch on tv! Big Sam probably does get labelled a bit harshly but lets be fair West Ham arent exactly Barcelona to watch! I quite enjoy a pint watching the 4pm game on a sunday but not sure want to watch West Ham every game! Feel a bit sorry for their fans who go the games too as cant be much fun having all their fixtures changed.

Quakes beat me to it but I'll ditto what he said. Four freaking forty-five in the morning New Years day, damn!! I might as well just stay up all night. No sense in going to bed at 2 or 3 cause I sure as hell won't be getting up two hours later if I did. Would be nice to get a win then I can pass out at 7am a happy man with a great start to the new year.

I would rather 4.45 than 6.45, no way will I be able to stay up that long!

I'm not too bothered, we all know how it works with the TV games and schedules and these fixture changes are part and parcel of supporting a club at our level.

Agree it's not an ideal KO time on New Years Day but it's not like 12:45pm is the crack of dawn and it is possible to have a great New Years Eve without getting absolutely hammered, it's not like it's obligatory or anything?

Like everyone else I'd have preferred a 3pm kick off but for me it's not a major issue, if the Albion are at home I want to be there and an earlier kick off time isn't going to stop me.

I do though think it might be an ideal opportunity for Albion to consider a "Bring a Friend" for Season Ticket holders at a reduced ticket price or a similar type of offer, maybe kids for £5, that type of thing.

Really bad
Unless of course we are still top 6 in January,I reckon the atmosphere might be ok?
