Only just seen this. There is no question ohf him returning. He's been dismissed and the gardening leave is just the method of working his notice.

Thanks. So Leicester are obliged to pay him for the full remaining duration or can they impose a limit on how much GL he gets?

It would depend on what was in the contract. Managers contracts are fixed term and if they terminated by the club without notice or due process the club will be in breach of contract and the full value of the contract will fall due when it is breached.

Hence managers were fired by one club where given a big bag of cash and were then free to take another job the following day. However clubs have wised up in recent years and have started to negotiate gardening leave clauses which not only stagger the payments but also give them control of what the manger does in the short term, i.e. stop them joining a direct rival.

Each contract will be unique. If I were an agent I would try to negotiate as much of the full value of the contract as possible for my client and on the club side they will be trying to get the amount paid for breach down to little more than the notice period.

They don't impose a limit. Sometimes a non disclosure agreement (NDA) comes into things. Worst case for the manager is, if there's 3 years left on contract, they pay him for that long. It's ok financially but effectively denies the person the right to work elsewhere.

Seems to be down to the individual agreement then between club and manager as to the T+C's rather than a set legal thing?

Definitely so. And, unusually, football is like other industries in this area.

Brilliant week for young English talent in Europe this mid week. 17 year old Ethan Nwaneri scored a 20 yarder for Arsenal in the Champs league while in the same competition, Morgan Rogers bagged a hattrick.

Jude Bellingham scored a classy goal after a move he started for Real Madrid.

Spurs tonight had 3 young English scorers, Ajayi, Scarlett and 17 year old Mikey Moore, with 18 year old Archie Gray playing our of position at centre half and continuing to impress. Kobbie Mainoo was MoTM with a goal and an assit for Man Utd.

We still need better defensive options, but England's attacking potential looks frightening.

Wishful thinking DB that they are in the championship?  ;D

I don't think one round of fixtures should be season defining particularly with 15 to play but that might have been.

The Dingles are going to stay up. Not because of anything they have done. Overall they have been poor and remain poor, however they are likely to have been saved by the 3 promoted teams being inept, Until yesterday I harboured some hope that Ipswich might have enough about them to scramble enough points to get ahead of them but losing to Southampton at home leaves you wondering where the next point comes from.

The win does nothing for Southampton they were dead already. This brings us on to Leicester and whatever chance they had of avoiding the drop died when they made the inexplicable decision to fire Cooper and then replace him with Van Nistelrooy.

At the other end of the table Forest to continue to defy expectations and Brighton's upward trajectory seems to have stalled. Liverpool are cruising to the title and there is a battle royal going on for the Champions League spots and after yesterday the Vile are hanging on in 8th and are not really in the conversation so some comfort there.

They should have never loaned out Ward Prowse in the first place. He scored 7 goals last season with 11 assist. Those are crazy numbers by anyones standards.

The only reason he didn't play much at Forest is because they're currently 3rd in the league. It was a terrible call by West Ham at the time.

I understand from perusing Footy Headlines Kit overview for the 25/26 season that Leeds have already been promoted to the Premier League, do they know something we don't?

Everton win again, flying under Moyes. They have survived getting into the new ground in the PL.

And people on here were turning their noses up at him when it was suggested we go for him.

I remember at the time where he was spoke about on here and my exact words were;

'Won a European trophy in 2023, not bad for a dinosaur. If there is any chance that it is affordable and he is interested, then he would easily be my first choice.'

He has turned them right around when they looked awful under Dyche.

I’m with you, Zac

Just checked and my comment was:

‘Moyes is far from a dinosaur, but there’s no way he would come here I’m afraid‘

I made the point on X yesterday that he was unfairly labelled a dinosaur. Good manager and seemingly a top bloke too.

All a bit irrelevant as he turned us down ages ago.  He's going back to Everton to shut his critics up there.
He has his methods and his disciplined approach - not a "let it all hang out man" type of manager.

Achievements don't matter, especially if they were done in extremely difficult financial circumstances.

Some were slagging off Wilder at the start of the season and the oft used dinosaur came out to describe him.

I mentioned Moyes on here few years back and he was already in the Jurassic age according to some then.

No respect for defensive discipline and solidity it's all about champagne football fantasy on a dripping sandwich budget.
