Luke Williams saying no approach made to him by us as of now.

@simondavies45

Spoke to Luke Williams who says no approach has been made by West Brom amid speculation over his future, but admits such talk can “create uncertainty”.

After today’s loss at Portsmouth: “If they were at the game today I won’t be going anywhere will I?”

@alex_crook

Asked Luke Williams for @talkSPORT if he could assure #SwanseaCity  fans he would stay in the wake of #WBA links: "Well, I'm not sure they want my future to be here after just watching that that performance. I certainly haven't had any contact from West Brom."

Swans fans are happy for us to have Williams after being thumped 4-0 by Pompey today!
Not surprised, awful result. Only one game but makes you wonder. Given our performances in the last 2 and half games, the attacking intent shown and the stats to back it up I’d be in no hurry to replace Brunt and Abella. Corberan with the handbrakes off maybe?

Definitely looks and feels less restrained.

It appears we're interested in certain managers because they play possession football and that style of football has often led to promotion.  I am concerned because it doesn't cut it in the Premier and managers seem unwilling to adapt...

Wallace is out of contract in 2026 not 2025.

Realistically the only way he will go  before then is if he gets lined out this month and does well enough for someone tintake him off us on a portion of his wages.

It was always a silly contract to give out but such was the short termism of Bruce and Gourley, a terrible pairing for a crucial season that will haunt the club for years to come.

Many a poster were praising them two for signing him and Swift.

When I gave the counter argument it is not hard to offer the highest wages to those with the best stats and wanting their last big payday that we should be for younger with potential resale, their weren't many that agreed as both were doing well at the start.

Very few promoted teams can play the same football after promotion.  They’d get battered every week even more than they do now

No need to rush, can't do it by Sat realistically, then a cup game we will almost certainly lose whatever team we put out.

Brunt has done ok, so take the time to get this right.

Mini-update from DOOD and company!

"Latest on manager search

Performance and results continue like today, it takes pressure off making a quick decision regarding a new manager.

Talks are planned to continue tomorrow with names already mentioned 👍

Let's see how it pans out.

He then  goes onto say in a different comment that despite what Williams says about no contact club has been speaking to his agents for a few days now.

I do know we have spoken to Ryan Lowe and he is keen, not sure if we will go any further though.

He did an excellent job at Crewe and Plymouth and seemed to be steady at Preston but their fans hate him so maybe not!

I am not overly struck on Williams, reading Swansea fan views he seems to be a football hipster, will only play one way and thats possession based, they have a better suited squad to that style than we do, i also remember how our fans were at games when we tried it under Darren Moore and i am not sure its a good combination.

If i was looking lower leagues i would be looking at Dave Challinor at Stockport, he seems a progressive coach, he did well at Flyde, back to back promotions with Stockport and seems to play decent football, and only 49 so not a dinosaur.

Not saying him but i would think i would rather him that Williams if we are looking outside the usual names and ready to pay compo.

Will Schumacher be first on the Podium or will a Williams beat him to it.

If we were able to replicate the quality of our first half play particularly in attacking, as versus Preston, for all our games, I wouldn’t be adverse to Brunt and Abella running the team until the end of the season.

It would result in the general style of play not being changed to that preferred by a new HC which would take time to bed in, but would retain the basic Corberan’s methods and add to them by injecting a more speedier attacking style with less tippy-tappy in build-up.

I would rather us take or time for the right person. I’ve often thought that more pace is needed in our attack. We slowed down considerably after the substitutions.

Williams sounds like Corberan part 2 with slow possession based football. No thanks.

I’m not adverse to bringing Williams in it’s good the club are looking to recruit a similar style of manager, look how disastrous the appointment of Val was we lurked from one style to another which resulted in a mish mash of players unsuited to play any 1 style of football.

I have to say though Williams comments in the press & how he’s handled the interest has put me off, I think it’s shown a real lack of class towards his current employers for a job that is only a slight step above Swansea. God knows what he’d do if a Premier League job came calling.

I absolutely second this! Nothing wrong with leaving them in interim for the whole season if things are going well and they haven't found their target instead of rushing and getting wrong on in. A bit like how we did with Jimmy Shan.

I can't say I'd heard of Luke Williams a fortnight ago. However, I'm getting the impression that what's attracting the owners is that he can work on a tight budget. He's also got decent coaching experience but at a lower level than Heitinga for example. Worked with Russel Martin at MK Dons, coached at Brighton but was nowhere near the first team. His first first-team job was at Notts County, where he did very well, but they were non-league at the time, whilst at Swansea he's lost more than he's won. I'd be giving him a miss at this stage.
