First 45 was decent enough , they actually put some good moves together . Grant with one from a neat AC ball , Clarke a poor header from a Townsend cross ( will he ever score ?) and Grant again with the miss of the season .  Yes Jerome hit the post but we should be going in with at least 2 goals .
2nd half  ......, well its almost like the misses from the first 45 mentally got to them . Everything good vanished , sloppy marking from AC and Bartley from.a lovely set piece ball in ( remember one of those ? ) . After that the collapse and lack of mental strength / character was shocking  , words can't describe how bad that last 35 mins was . Lazy , spineless and washed up most of them .

Firstly some perspective, this was bad yes, but those of us supporting Albion will remember worse when were in league one. That being said, we are now in major trouble with a team that looks barely able to survive in the Championship.  With the exception of for the moment our keeper, we have significant problems in all other departments.  Our midfield particularly looks very weak.  The defence looks poor and we simply do not look capable of scoring at all.  There is something rotten at the heart of the squad, and we now know that this is about the squad and not just Management (if we did not before).  For those saying we need a change in Management, that is not going to happen anytime soon.  There is no mechanism to do this, unless you have a spare £200m at hand.  Given our owner is in China, there is even less pressure that can  be applied.  We have to hope Bruce can do something with what he has got, but it is difficult for us all.  This is the season where we have gone from storming the league through to worrying next season we could get relegated.  Football is as they say, a funny old game.

The stupid thing is that, SB will see that we have lost and bring Livermore back in. How the FLIP will that solve our team.  It is all because of the overplayed players and the lack of knowledge from the Appalling board decisions.

Like they say in life - You reap what you sow.

If you don’t invest in the squad then this is what we will get.  How come 100% of this forum see that and they don’t?
Diangana / Grant / Dyke = £22m plus, it's not lack of investment it's bad investment
You can add Sturridge / Krychowiak and Allardyce to the waste of cash pot too

Dear lord, when did we get so hopeless? When it was goalless at half-time you felt a certain inevitability kicking in. I just fear we’re sleepwalking to league one the season after next. These players are seriously hopeless.

Said it at he the time of vals dismissal this squad is bang average. No matter who’s in charge. Val had done wonders to get this squad challenging for most of this season. Yes I agree it wasnt pretty and was boring and we were dropping like a stone but no manager is turning this particular squad around. How many managers of certain players in this squad outran it comes to a point where you have to think it’s the players rather than staff/management. Lack of investment and lack of a recruitment plan is also as much to blame though.all I think any baggies fan is after is a team that plays decent football and gives 100 per cent where possible. Not a massive ask I don’t think. This lot are awful to watch and lack passion in my opinion which is criminal

I’ve nothing to say really.

Didn’t watch it, thought we would lose and wasn’t surprised when I checked the result.

Not 1 leader in the entire playing staff, nearest thing we have is Jake and he cannot lead by example.
Not 1 talisman figure who an create anything
Not 1 character, where is the Sneekes / Scharner / McInnes ?

Bland, bland, average, I dread to think what that dressing room is like

I didn't say he was, I did say he is the nearest we have, which justifies my point

I don't think he is. To me it's an absolute no brainer to give the captainship to Dara.

I woke up this morning around 6am and I thought ok, I’ll have a look at the replay.

From the start you could see they had more energy, passion, cohesion and will to win than us.

We looked hurried, hassled, confused, incompetent and in some cases just plain lazy.

When their first goal went in I started to flick forward every five minutes or so to see if we might have miraculously scored a goal. Nope.

Then it went 2-0 and then I turned it off.

7 hours of football without a goal is just unbelievable.

I played over 45s football for a few years and played up front - probably one of the slowest and clumsy strikers you’ve ever seen, even for over 45s.

But I reckon I could have scored that goal Grant missed, he had enough time but botched it.

Terrible at the moment but as Bruce said let’s hope we’ve now bottomed out.

So this

I’ve relentlessly “followed” Albion since moving to the Southern Hemisphere 12 years ago, got up at all hours for evening kick offs, play off against the vile etc.

Now I just wake up , check the result and sigh.

Numbers are really going to drop soon, not sure what the answer is. We’ve been in decline for years and now it’s becoming very apparent.

Sad times for us Baggies ☹️

Nobody has said we have the best squad in the league, people always rated Fulham's and Bournemouths better.  Every team in this league has weaknesses in every department.  Ok, name all these squads that are better on paper than ours.  That's why it's so frustrating to see the team struggle so much because we know they're capable of better.  I'll repeat a point I made in the last game - why are you so against the players if they're playing to the ability you think they have?

Grant's our top scorer and we know Diangana is an excellent player as we've literally seen it with our own eyes.  We're stuck in a horrible patch of form and confidence looks rock bottom.

1) No but many were saying that we ought to be promoted with this squad.

2) I have done so already by comparing the vital midfields and granted that our midfield might play well on paper whatever that looks like..

Fulham: Harrison Reed;  Cavaleiro, Tom Cairney; Loftus Cheek, Lemina

QPR: Johansen; Field; Ilias Chair; Albert Adomah

Sheffield Utd ; Sander Berge, Oliver Norwood, Gibbs_White; Hourihane

Stoke City: Allen, Nick Powell;  Shaqiri

Bournemouth: Danjuma; Phillip Billing; Jefferson Lerma David Brooks

Blackburn:  Bradley Dack; Rothwell; Dolan

Nottingham Forest: Garner; Dias; Yates (Spence attacks from full-back)

cf
WBA:  Livermore; Mowatt; Molumby (TGH never started)

But is the lack of energy that I find so annoying.  Indeed they're  moving like they're super talented but that's only in their heads.

Is that the Shaqiri that hasn't played for Stoke since 2018 (he went to Liverpool, Lyon and now plays for Chicago Fire).  I think you mean Vrancic or maybe Clucas?

I do agree with the general point you are making though.

Anyway onto the game.

I managed to find a stream to watch at work.... after a slow start we looked the better side for 25 minutes or so, should have scored 2 or 3 and then fell to pieces after they scored.

Been saying for months it wasn't the manager it was the players, but was told a few times that a new manager would get these players firing again. Bruce even sounded like Ismael in his post match comments about creating chances but not scoring.

Johnson and Carroll will leave. Molumby and Clarke will probably return to Brighton. The rest will be the bulk of our squad.

Finally got around to watching the extended highlights last night. To say I was angry would be an understatement. Bitter, yes. Twisted, definitely. Perplexed at how abject some of them were? Not remotely.

Said months and months ago this side lacks character. I've seen pygmies stand taller on programmes by Sir Richard Attenborough than some of the players did on Saturday.

Delighted not to have spent money to watch them go through the motions again. £32 per ticket plus £1.75 admin fee with transport and refreshments on top for that? FROff.
