Once again proving that football fans are so fickle.

Rules simply don't apply to footballers, do they? If I said on here what I think of some of the posts and members, I'd be banned and called all manner of names. A jumped up little leech publicly insults his employer and not only gets fans kissing his backside but gets a massive pay rise.

He could score a hat trick in every single game and it still wouldn't cover over what he has done in my eyes, because he stands for everything I hate about modern footballers. People who kowtow to this type of behaviour baffle me.

Yes he got the final touch today but it was a goal for West Bromwich. A team goal. I hope he leaves in January.

Very under rated IMOP and better than Foster but not as good as Hoult or Ossie. Probably would have won the league with either those two in that team.

Although I had the pleasure of seeing 'those' Albion teams of the mid/late 70's through to the early 80's, I never had the pleasure of seeing the likes of Barlow, Astle and Brown et.al playing in the flesh during times of arguably greater footballing romance.

While I have admired the combination of skill, technique and strength in many of our players over the years, I can honestly say that I have never looked on any of them as heroes.

To me they are sportsmen, some of whom have been better than others.
Meanwhile others have gained favour with me by their efforts rather than by their skill.

Sorry, no hero worship to be had from me.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.
Oh, and always remember to defecate on those Vile chaps in claret and spew.

How about ol fist pumper Paul Robinson for that equaliser in stoppage time in our Great Escape season! Wasn't a winner I know but it sure as hell felt like one!
I was at the 79 game when Tucka Trewick got the winner & it felt great, but when my own personal fave Decka Statham got the only goal a few years later, I was on cloud 9, I was smiling for week's after that!

Perhaps you never saw the King in his pomp. Admittedly I was a kid but kids and adults a like worshiped him as if he was Corberan.

I'll see your King and raise you Three Degrees.

To be a real hero you have to be humble. Thats why we don't have any real heroes at the moment.

For people of a certain age Jeff Astle was our hero.

I have been very fortunate to be born at the right time and to have followed the Baggies at the right time.
I just caught a glimpse of Barlow and Kevan.
Bobby Robson just lived up road from me when he was playing.
I watched Chippy Clarke develop. Jeff come and blossom, backed up with Bobby Hope and Bomber.
Saw the 3 Degrees come and flourish.
Osborne, Kaye, Sneekes, Willie, Super Bob even Lee Hughes...I could go on, but these are just to name a few (too many to actually mention...and I bet I have forgotten a few too)
Age has a lot to be grateful for. [67 soon].

For people of a certain age Jeff Astle was our hero.

Jeff was a common man with NO frill or ideas of grandeur, He would walk into the Jinglers "the crown & Anchor" hollyhedge rd & have a pint, laugh & joke with you at times he he would come in with Bomber or Cantela
Jeff was "THE WORKING CLASS HERO" in my opinion.
