I think most PL teams need a player like Sessegnon in their squads.

I don't think he fits in at all to start for us but he should certainly be on the bench because he is a very different option to everybody else and offers us a plan b if he is brought on in a game and we are behind.

Wouldn't say Gamboa was exactly bombed out by Irvine. As I remember it he was a regular inclusion in the squad but (for some reason) he preferred to play Wisdom (who started for Norwich on Saturday).

Because their normal right back was injured, let that sink in, Wisdom was preferred to him. That buddy is being bombed out.

I appreciate you don't rate Wisdom but someone clearly does having picked him for England at every representative age from 16, being handed a four year contract at Liverpool in the summer and still getting first team Premier League football.

Love it, I get the need for stability and staying in the glory league, but there is no reason why our rb and lb can't start when brunt and Dawson are injured (or cup).
Paying 8 mill (over a quarter of our net spend) on a CB , then playing him RB against the best team in the land ,then bombing him out?
Not playing our best footballer (sess) and expecting flair from fletcher/Gardner and Lambert is just puzzling.
Yep we will stay up, I will stay away.

Motm today for me. Brilliant going forward, and his defensive side has improved majorly. His tackle on Billy Jones and then him tracking back to make that challenge right at the end was superb from him.

If we can get Sess playing this determined week in week out he should be first name on the team sheet.

Indeed, makes you wonder about the other results without him this season...could he have been the difference vs Southampton and Watford?

I've always rated him. Yes, he's inconsistent but especially at home is very useful. If he wasn't inconsistent he'd be playing for a far better team so I've never agreed with that criticism either.

Adds more excitement going forward and takes the ball to teams that we lack. Need that in a player that can actually make something from his play. I like Sess a lot and having dopey sods around him who can't attack to save their life doesn't help but until he starts creating and finishing chances he's a luxury.

I thought the defensive side of his game looked much better his tracking back and covering of Dawson in the last minute was impressive. Going forward he was a major outlet for the team other than hoof it it up front.

He shows that attacking can be done in a Pulis team, if players are allowed to be themselves rather than a Pulis puppet.

He did play well today not going to deny.

However these performances are few and far between as we have seen over the last 2 years, I'm kind of hoping that we may see a few more of those performances though to keep himself in the team. if he does ill be a happy chappy.

still needs to do more in areas that hurt the opposition though

Nice to have him back on the scene. The main criticism of him tends to be lack of end product but we've hardly seen any end product at all from his replacements in his absence.

I assume Morrison was injured which probably explains his selection and being against his old team so perhaps up for it.

Don't be surprised if he is dropped once Morrison is back.

I thought I had missed the news of Pulis' sacking when I saw Sess in the starting XI. In my opinion it was welcome surprise! We have been pleading for Pulis to use more pacey attack minded players on the wing so it was no shock for me anyway to see Sess have a great game pushing forward and attacking but as others have pointed out what was a bit surprising and nice to see was his defensive contribution the entire match working hard & tracking back supporting Dawson. It was nice to see a player attacking his defender(s) to get into the box and/or get a cross in. Just hope this wasn't a decision where TP felt this was his best available option and it's another dozen games before we see him again. A side note if McManaman isn't hurt then Sess getting the start certainly doesn't bode well for him.

I think Pulis is still pi$$ed with Mcmanaman for his dive earlier in the season.
Seems like a very unforgiving man.

Not sure if it's normal as I'm usually away as soon as the final whistle goes but we were late out of the ground yesterday and McMannaman was doing some work with a coach on the pitch after the game. Maybe that is a sign he was carrying some kind of knock.

When it comes to Sessegnon I had genuinely forgot what he looked like but he put a man of the match performance in but understandably tired as the game went on.

Outstanding today. Not just for his skill and control but also his defending. Superb tackle in the left hand corner when Sunderland were a man over. Should start against Norwich

Re-watch their main goal threat (the Myhill corner save). It came from Sessegnon failing to run with his man who delivered the ball to their shooter. They could have easily gone 1-0 up and it would have been his fault.
