Real Madrid To Bid For Borja Valero
« on: February 19, 2011, 04:00:11 AM »
"Real Madrid are set to launch a summer swoop for Villarreal midfielder Borja Valero, according to reports.

The Madrigal club will look to hold out for a fee in the region of €18 million for the former Mallorca maestro, but Madrid coach Jose Mourinho will hope to negotiate a lesser valuation for the star."

Damn, it's a pity it just didn't work out for us...  Surprised to see he's still only 23 according to the report.

He's played in a number of positions for Villareall. I saw him deployed on the right of a diamond system against Napoli. He's much more comfortable/happier in Spain.

It never worked at ours because greening was in the same midfield, greening getting the ball and doing is famous blubottle impersonation and Valero was left like a spare part.

Pity.

still we move on as someone once said.

Christan eriksen said that he doesnt want to move to the premier league, as it wont suit him, he likes to be on the ball, his frame isnt the biggest, and you dont get enough time on the ball .. clearly what happened with Valero

In spain, he's allowed more time on the ball, the pace is slower so being box to box is easier

We played him alongside Greening and the korean guy (forgot his name) ,  Valero should clearly have been in an attacking position, and we needed some powerful man in midfield

It's a shame it didn't work out

I can't see him going to real madrid .. they have sergio canales breaking through, they bought in khedeira to play alongside xabi, they still have lassana diarra , and kaka is coming back in granero and pedro leon can play centre mid too

Then again, if i was spanish .. I'd hate to live in england and would find it hard to settle

Even allowing for being played out of position I just dont think Valero fancied it over here.
Obviously prefers the surroundings of his homeland

How can they look to buy him from Villareal when he is still officially only on loan with them?

im the same if i had a choice of playing in england or spain i would choose spain as it suits my game better, instead im in the empal league, but valero the pace is to quick in england for him and didnt get used to it in short space of time
