West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: The Tchoyi and Long Partnership
« on: October 16, 2011, 05:05:56 PM »

Maybe I am in a minority of one, but I thought that Tchoyi, was shocking today, and I was very happy when he was substituted.

He played OK in patches early on, but he hasn't a clue.

I can remember comments from Moscow, that he was a star for the first 12-18  months then, he was a disaster, hope history isn't repeating itself....

West Bromwich Albion FC / Peace makes new offer for shares.

If he spent more time looking after the club, than himself, things would be a lot better....

Where does the TV revenue, gate receipts, sponsorship, transfer fees for outgoing players & the BIG COLA money go?

It's sad to think that, more than likely, this is as good as it gets. *sigh*

If there was more transparency then we would all know, and of course we have to pay Peace his inflated salary....let's keep our priorities in the correct order, the greedy accountant has to be paid first.

It would also be preferable if Peace spent as much time and energy looking after the success of the club, that he spends on sharp deals which allow him  to increase his share holding.....

A shocking performance, forget the mistake, but we were inept this afternoon, Stoke offered nothing, and unfortunately we matched them.

I think that Foster struggled initially, as Man U, put our defence under massive pressure, but as the game continued the confidence of Foster and our defensive unit became stronger.

I am confident that Foster will be an asset for us.

I keep remembering what I read about him when he first joined us, a lot of the Moscow supporters said that he had a fantastic first 18months, and then just faded out.

I would rather take the cash for him, provided that our board replaces him with a quality player, and not use Long as that replacement.

I don't want a miserable player ruining the morale at The Hawthorns.

Would you be happier if he sold our players at a loss every time.

Lets get Trev back or Thompson who couldnt sell Kilbane quick enough.

The relevence is that he drives a hard bargain for the benefit of Albion, if im not mistaken we have some very respected emplyees. Ashworth and Hodgson to name but two.

Are you suggesting that when/ if he gets a buyer that he will sell us down the river? take his money and run?
I would think that he would insist on a stay on period to ensure team investment is actually implemented if and when MR BIG  knocks on our door.
Your right we are a medium sized club with a CEO/chairman who is no fool and well respected in financial circles.

Your first comment benefits no one is is really irrelevant, and whilst I agree that Trev, was a joke, I believe that it was Thompson who was the architect of Albion's revival.

I think that your thoughts that Peace would stay on at the Hawthorns after collecting his multi-million pound fortune is pure fantasy, he will take his money and run.

And I will repeat my first thoughts on this issue, Albion are a medium sized business run efficiently by an accountant, who is vastly overpaid.

Fortunatley for us he over values some of our resale players too, Koumas, Kamara, Greening, Davies, etc etc.

Compare his costs which actually benefit the club, to say a players agent for instance, thats where the pi$$ take is.

Don't see the relevance of the argument, as all he is doing is making a profit for himself, it is his club, and his personal profit, ultimately.

So all the supporters who keep discussing his expertise in selling our stock at excellent prices, just remember who ultimately benefits!!!

Let's not forget that he personally will be the ultimate beneficary of a real King's ransom, when he eventually sells his shares.

As I said previously, Peace is a man who over values his real worth.

Approx 14k a week, for 5 days work, at say 10 hours a day, = £280 an hour.
Which for me is a kings ransom, but for an accountant in charge of and overseeing all things financial in a multi million pound business like running a premiership club is about right.

I would agree if Albion really were a multimillion pound organization, but he was paid his kings ransom for looking after a company with a turnover of £28m.....

It has also been noted that Peace is spending less time at the club, so your financial assumptions are probably not accurate.

We are still only a small-medium size business, I know we all think we are big time, but the realities are different.

I have always advocated that Peace pays himself a ridiculous amount for the job that he occupies, he is a vastly overpaid accountant, and they are two a penny.

He would deserve more if he was an entrepreneur, but over the seasons he has been in charge, I have never seen any of that spirit.

A greedy man is Mr Peace.

I suggest that you all read this article, to me it gives a fair and accurate report on where our club is financially, it highlights the problems and benefits of our Chairman's tenure.

I am sure that it will create a lot of intelligent debate.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Our poorest owner
« on: June 23, 2011, 01:19:54 PM »
We have only had one 'owner' that is the present Chairman, Mr Peace.

Tony Hale, Trevor Summers, Bert Millichip etc., have all been Chairmen and minority shareholders.

Whilst most of our previous Chairman, have not been particularly inspiring, I still much prefer the old method, and continue to oppose the current Chairman / Majority shareholder situation, that we currently have at the Hawthorns.

Going back a bit, Derek Monaghan.  Similar build to Robson (well at least he had the same daft 70s perm).  Got injured, I think.  And Martyn Bennett looked like he could have been good for a few games at first.  Don't know what happened to him?

I was talking to Martin Bennett about 12 months ago in Sutton Coldfield, he looked very well and told me that he had been living in Ireland.

Tesco is the largest retailer in the UK and the third largest in the EU. Why be embarrassed about it? The dingles look the stupid ones as the think it is an insult to call us Tesco.

Fourth largest in the world..

After watching the Chelsea midfielder recently, I have to say NO.

Maybe when he was at his prime, but currently, give me Mulumbu any day.
