Berihino deserves a pat on the back. Played for the team tonight in a defensive first role. It will make him a better player for it in the end.

Brunt was, by and large, terrible.
I must be the only guy in the country who doesn't find him annoying.
Hopefully Michael Owen of BT next for the chop.
What exactly does Paul Jewell bring? Can't say I've been awestruck by any of his sides up to now.
I hope we have at least someone on the training staff that will help develop players technical skills.
Wonder if Irvine has been stood in his back garden all afternoon staring at his watch?
Times change, what was considered good enough a few seasons ago isn't now.
To judge a coach then you look at players. Has the individual shooting, passing of indivdiual players improved or declined ? Have free-kicks or corners improved under the current coaching set up ? Has the goalkeeping coach improved the current keepers ?
For me the answer is no. Nothing personal against the coaching staff but they have not improved the players how coaches should.
Time for change. I'm not sure Downing or Kiely will go at this stage but I would expect to see more change in the Summer when Pulis has looked at the who set up and has his feet under the table.
But aren't the Newcastle fans the best judges?
Agreed, but didn't we already try that with Pepe Mel?
With the squad we now have (once they are match fit), a decent coach with passion could do very well for us. There were and are plenty of them around who would fit the bill. Pay compensation if necessary. Sherwood was NOT the answer. It is the most important appointment in the club, and as JP well knows we can't afford to keep getting it wrong.
Nigel Adkins was the type of appointment who would have fitted the bill perfectly.
If we want to be anything other than a great footballing side this club turns it's back on our legacy and joins those clubs who only care about dancing to Sky's tune. I want to be in the best league playing our best football. Like I said before if football no longer becomes about entertainment there is no need for us to be there.
You want more fans and a bigger stadium, you play good football. You want to be a world known club, you play good football in the best league. You want to come back every Saturday, regardless of result, happy and entertained, you play good football. You want to attract the best players you play good football. The fact that John Walters, Alan Hutton and Stuart Downing being linked with us was met with widespread anger shows we care about who plays for our club.
If Pulis comes to this club I'll give my season ticket away. If your only concern is staying in this league at the expense of any entertaining football you can't sit and slate the chairman for his actions. I want to watch my team play well and winning games come from that, not play badly but efficiently.
Anyone who wants Pulis at this club needs to really consider why they follow us.
Anyone. There are people applying for the Leeds job. He'll be gone by 9 pm the Sunday of the Burnley game. I'm hoping there is an emergency meeting occurring as I type!!!
If this result came before the Swansea one, I think people would be saying things like we were unlucky, individual errors cost us, could have gone differently.
Obviously that's no excuse. We weren't good enough. But I think there are some massive knee jerk reactions on here.
Yeah well done Alan for you awful clearance and dreadful goalkeeping error.
