West Bromwich Albion FC / Subsidising of away game tickets.
« on: December 03, 2015, 08:38:18 PM »
As our away support seems to be dwindling and tickets remain overpriced, I think it is evident the club needs to consider subsidising away ticket prices, and I think some action needs to be taken. Other clubs in the Prem are a step ahead of us, e.g:

Villa subsidise tickets for a minimum of 5 away games per season.
Swansea subsidise every away game and caps the price of them at £22, which is a fantastic move.
Stoke do free away coaches for every away game.

With the amount of money in the Premier League, and especially considering the new deal next season, it is imperative the club look after our fans or our support will shrink further and people will continue to be priced out.

I notice we have only taken up a maximum allocation of 1605, which is fairly shameful to be honest as the usual is nearly 3000. Does anyone reckon anything can be done to improve our away support? This is not intended as a criticism but there is a huge disparity between our atmospheres at away games. I think we have quite an old crowd and many who don't always stand ( Which does contribute to the atmosphere and is more intimidating)

General Football & Sports / Rangnick moves to Salzburg
« on: June 24, 2012, 02:51:48 PM »
Rangnick becomes sporting director at Salzburg, very odd:

"Ralf Rangnick and Gerard Houllier have joined Salzburg, with Roger Schmidt appointed head coach of the Austrian champions.

Rangnick has been linked with several coaching vacancies across Europe, including West Brom, since quitting Schalke in September last year citing exhaustion.

He has now been named as Salzburg's sporting director, while former Liverpool and Aston Villa boss Houllier will serve as the club's global sports director.

Schmidt arrives from Germany 2 Bundesliga side Paderborn, having guided them to a surprising fifth place last year.

Schmidt replaces Ricardo Moniz, who unexpectedly left the club following their title success earlier this month."

Apologies for yet another Valero topic, but on twitter Guillem Balague has just said "Man City are casting their eye Villarreal's Borja Valero."  :o

General Football & Sports / Paddy McCourt
« on: August 15, 2011, 12:02:46 PM »
Maybe we should have paid that extra 10K or whatever they wanted! :

Liverpool have launched a bid for Celtic's Northern Ireland winger Paddy McCourt.
The man dubbed the 'Derry Pele' scored two stunning individual goals in a 4-0 European Championship qualifying defeat of the Faroes Islands last week.
And the Scottish Sun revealed that scouts from all over Europe are now courting the former Rochdale player.
Celtic are keen to keep hold of the 27-year-old, despite him being on the fringes of their first-team for the last three years since his move from Derry City in 2008.
But Reds boss Kenny Dalglish believes the tricky winger will provide much-needed guile in the final third as he continues his rebuilding process.
Wolves and Blackpool have also expressed an interest in McCourt but they are likely to be blow out of the water by Liverpool's interest.
