Update on Dike from the E&S paywall:
The United States international striker has not played for 11 months after an Achilles injury sustained last February, which was his second in the space of a year.
The 24-year-old's return from a fourth major fitness setback in a little over two years at The Hawthorns was delayed in late October when he picked up a hamstring injury on return to training with the first-team fold.
Then boss Carlos Corberan said the delay was not a surprise given his time out and that the setback will help Dike in the long term. Just before his exit for Valencia, the former head coach said he had full confidence Dike would get his Albion career going again.
Under the interim management of Chris Brunt, Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill - who are set to remain in charge for a fifth game at Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Saturday - Dike took his first steps back into team training during the busy spell of games between Christmas and New Year.
Brunt said: "Daryl has been out and about doing bits and pieces with the squad but still doing bits and pieces with the fitness coaches.
"He's progressing OK. I think with the nature of the injuries he's had we've got to be cautious with him, but he's been positive and is optimistic.
Daryl Dike was in tears as he was taken off at Ipswich in February.
"I don't think I can put a timeframe on anything without speaking to sports science and medical but he's doing OK. He's in an alright place, so let's hope he keeps progressing.
"If we can get him fit and involved towards the back end of the season he can be a big asset for us."
Dike was carted off in tears having ruptured his Achilles at Ipswich's Portman Road last February. He had only returned the previous month from the same injury, on the other side, suffered in April 2023.
Albion's plan for Dike's return is either after several full sessions with his senior colleagues, or possible match action for Richard Beale's under-21 side, who are next in action against Everton on Friday night at Solihull Moors as Premier League 2 action resumes.
