That was really bad. No one comes out of it with any credit.

Holgate is NOT a CB, i'd have Ajayi in over him next game.

MOwatt was utter garbage, we needed Diakite on for him to give the team balance but i think the managers opinions on who he rates and doesn't might prevent this.

Wildsmith was poor, i'd happily see him dropped. He isn't our future.

Adam Armstrong out wide was maddening.
I agree about Armstrong.  At 0-2 go 424 and lump it.

Pretty weedy effort generally.  Wildsmith might be a bit better than Button.  No boss on the pitch.  First disallowed goal very unlucky, payback for Burnley maybe.

I personally don't really like the overcelebrations that happen often these days, but I appreciate the passion.  We could have done without the cards though

Ref could have just laughed at the handbags, but there we are.  Putting your arm up like that is silly.

Good game today, 2 fine saves -  maybe could have done better for their goal but will have to check replays

I wonder if he's planning to try the Celtic tactic of 6 up front?  (Didn't work as I recall)

Palmer is very solid, but Griffiths does seem to have that touch of "je ne sais quoi" that makes the best keepers.  We'll find out soon enough!

Would appreciate you chucking a couple in the back of the net on your next visit please.
Which will be next season.  No hard feelings, that's your pension sorted Alex.

He’s a perfect 10…but he wears a 12 😀
Nice one

Keepers are so hard to judge - historically never commanded comparable fees to outfielders, often develop late.  Palmer could be a respected Prem keeper for a decade, or be back in the Championship next year forever.  Who knows.

Don't see we had much choice to be honest.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Tony Mowbray appointed as Head Coach
« on: February 02, 2025, 11:25:42 AM »
Pointed out on the match thread that Mowbray isn't a genius tactician, that's not what he was appointed for, it is his style of man management that is his selling point, he tries to get a group of players set up for attacking football and let's them do their thing on the pitch. No great leaders there, unfortunately.  Jonas for example, or Bartley, would probably have got the back 4 lined up to be solid after we scored, not carried on so open.

Mowbray isn't a great tactician, never was.   This sort of thing happened quite often in his first incarnation.  He shouldn't be hung out this season, but if he hasn't got a team gelled by Octoberish he might well be.

Take the shilling now, if he's decided he's away he'll be no good in the run in, just human nature.

They're goalie had a mare, but we flooded the box to create the opportunities.   Carry on Tony, I'd rather go WLWLWL than DDDDDD

Mowbray impressed with what he saw from Price in their training session,.doesn't say whether he will start or not though
Pulis used to chuck new signings straight in, great when it worked, not so good when it didn't

They wind is in Portsmouth's sails right now, while we are all at sea, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if we lose or draw.

Not really an old fashioned snotter, but got that bit of edge all teams need somewhere.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Grady Diangana
« on: January 24, 2025, 06:48:49 AM »
The best outcome is that the combination of Mowbray influence and Grady needing a new contract results in some good performances that help the team. But he’s gone and it’s best for all that he goes. He never wanted to come to the midlands but fair play he’s been professional and he’s given it a go. He’s just never been the player we wanted to be.

I’ll have no ill will toward him and hope he goes on to reach his potential but have no desire for him to stay because he needs to get back to London.
Pretty good summary.  Seems a nice guy, played a bit of good footy for us at times but we have paid through the nose for it.

And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

Beats me, Swifty.
I thought of that song too
