Oh dear. You can only conclude that we're led by donkeys or that we're in serious financial distress (they're hardly mutually exclusively of course).

And yet we are told that fans were ridiculous for thinking we could get £25m.

I don't really understand why more clubs weren't in for Pereira. People will quote the Al Hilal offer, yet that came in only 3 weeks before he left. Where were they before? Such a strange situation. Either way, Pereira is top flight proven, Danjuma isn't. We need to learn to sell properly.

stolen a few posts from another board, suggests Arabia was the plan all along.

"All I'll say is this.

I know a bit more on the Pereira deal, we really had little choice. I can't make too much public since I shouldn't. Pereira was the biggest twit in the whole affair, Dowling and his illegal ideas a close second
."

-

"There wasn't. Honestly.

The guy is a mercenary twit, that's what every coach and manager who has worked with him, except Bilic says about him.

He wouldn't sign the new deal because that would have increased his market value, since the basis of it is contract value, and he wanted to stay as cheap as possible to get his move to Saudi Arabia or China for massive wages.
"

-

"We certainly could have let him rot, but that wasn't what Val wanted, he doesn't want any players here that aren't 100% committed to West Brom and his tactical ideas. He is big into club culture. He wouldn't even have let MP play in the reserves, lest his influence rub off on them. At that point, no one would have paid much for him.

It was a mess, and one the club do hold some blame for, but quite honestly, with MP, it was always going to end badly, it always does. Like Wingie before him, never really quite hits what you think he can.
"

This has just been posted on Twitter funnily enough by wba xtra who was ahead of everyone including Romano on the MP deal.

"Not sure many people know this but I was told Guochuan Lai personally accepted the bid for Matheus Pereira from al hilal. Ken ect was holding out for more. Lai intervened and accepted #wba"

Then goes onto mention other suggestions that can't be discussed on here for obvious reasons.

Clearly the deal Lai made for MP gets worse and worse with every passing day as we see other transfers take place.

Worse for who though?  I bet Lai has done well out of it.

I would not be surprised if he hasn't but we can't say much more. It wasn't a good deal for the football club is all i can say.

From what i've seen and read, there's a general feeling that Blues, Peterborough and QPR have done good business.

I think the incoming business we have done has been pretty good too. They've all come with a purpose and solved a problem.

Fulham 2-0 now. Fulham and Bournemouth will be real challenges to over come this year. Just hope Parker hurts Bournemouth and doesn't prove me wrong that he is an ordinary manager.

Carvalho at Fulham looks an exciting kid. Hope he picks England over Portugal.

Looks like the point we got away to Bournemouth was a great result in hindsight.

Could turn out to be a absolute gem. 6 goals and 4 assists in your first 25 games pro games at 18 is a great return. Minimum expect him to be a top championship player if he stays injury free.

Same, he should do well at this level. Could be a real real player in a few years if he keeps developing. Isn't he a WBA fan? means little nowadays of course but just can't remember if its true or not.

2-0 Fulham, if we win tonight  us and Fulham can start pulling away ever so gradually from the rest of the rubbish in this league.
