The EFL’s position with Wigan has become a whole lot more difficult after tonight’s results

If they win the appeal. Barnsley will be straight down the solicitors.

Yep absolutely, just what the EFL wouldn’t have wanted! It was ideal for Wigan to just about stay up with the reduction, meaning some concession on the deduction wouldn’t really have changed anything

Think it’ll be a Swansea vs Cardiff play off final

Forest capitulation is the worst since Cardiff went into the final game 3 points and 11 goals ahead of Preston for the last play off place, and lost 6-0 to them

Last night in the Championship.

3 promotion contenders fail to win.

Swansea and Forest contrive to find the only results that could let Swansea into the play-offs by a single goal.

Barnsley who have been in the relegation zone pretty much all season get out of it by winning at 3rd place Brentford.

Totally standard for the Championship.

The Barnsley manager would have them about 13th since he came in and I’m sure they were well adrift. What a job he’s done. One to look out for for sure.

Just looked and hes only 43!! thought he was in his 50s!

Showing the strain of a relegation fight but fair play to them all.

Congrats to Barnsley for turning it round. One of the teams at the bottom that have given us 2 real games this season. Feel bad for Wigan though, lost 1 game since Feb (and that was Brentford). Wouthout the points deduction they’d be well clear.

Oh and special mention to Forest. How have they managed that.

Ha, exactly.

I haven't seen the goals, but I hope Samba had a mare. Hope that knee-slide in front of the Smethwick was worth it?

Wow, how did Forest mess this season up so badly? :-X

Also, some 6 games ago, all these teams who were in the bottom five ended up staying up...!
(Huddersfield, Middlesbrough, Stoke, Barnsley, Luton)

So... would points per game have been fair?

The play offs are fascinating now.

A reeling Brentford vs an on fire Swansea (Connor Gallagher and Rhian Brewster are players we have to be looking at now).

A shaky yet dangerous Fulham vs a decent Cardiff side as well.

You could make a case for any of that 4.

My personal preference would be Cardiff or Swansea, from a purely self preservational point of view.

Colin Murray has just said Wigan have gained 7 more points than us in 2020 and have been relegated. Incredible stat.

Wow!

A couple of things this stat shows:

1) Our first half of the season was outstanding - just a relentless pursuit of promotion.

2) Something has gone amiss in the second half and we need serious investment if we are going to compete next season.

Bravo.

So this virus thingy must be very selective as it appeared to affect us and not Wigan or Brentford?

Not from December to February. We have got seriously lucky here. Full credit for how outstanding we were August to November.

My 9.15am call with a Forest fan tomorrow is going to be fun. Thankful we're still working from home as the office would not be a fun place to be.

Edit:

To out it into perspective, I I cluded Forest as outsiders in my own Excel run in predictions, and now they are out of the playoffs. Crazy
