Can't believe it, Torres scores his £50 million goal....
Deserved it for the defending second half no thanks to the 'legend' Terry
Just waiting now for the media to Bash West Brom over sacking RDM. They can do one, look at Avran Grant in 2008 2nd placed finish and a Champions League Final, he follows this up by relegating 2 clubs. Not saying RDM is a bad manager but am sick to death of glory hunters and the cockney media giving us a hard time.
Classic reaction by Neville to the second goal :) so funny.
I agree.
I'm so happy for RDM don't get me wrong - as long as the media stay clear of the WBA sacking I'll stay that way.

Hilarious.
The UEFA YouTube Footy Police have already killed your link.

They'll never stop me! ;D
I'm sure I've just dreamed that.
Absolutely fantastic defensive performance. Incredible. I said it was game over as soon as Iniesta scored. Probably one of the best team performances I've ever seen in my lifetime.

that was amazing!! ying vs yang. Mongoose vs snake!
Mereiles, ivanovic , ramires and terry out
What a totally enthralling game.
If RDM could have got our defence playing like that he'd still be here and we'd be top 6
First final at a playing teams home ground, right? Can't wait for the final...Wasnt the Liverpool / Roma final in the 80's at Roma's ground. I know it wasnt the Champions League then but it was the European Cup I think ?

Drogba - wow.
English football at the top of Europe. Fair play Chelsea. It wasnt pretty but they did it.
The Champions League groups for the 2012/13 season have been drawn:
Group A: Porto, Dynamo Kiev, Paris St Germain, Dinamo Zagreb. Hard to know who will come out of this group
Group B: Arsenal, Schalke, Olympiakos, Montpellier. Arsenal could have a bit of a problem here IMO
Group C: AC Milan, Zenit St Petersburg, Anderlecht, Malaga. Milan and Zenit are my tip in this group
Group D: Real Madrid, Manchester City, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund. City are doomed
Group E: Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, FC Nordsjaelland. I know Chelsea are the champs but this may be a step too far
Group F: Bayern Munich, Valencia, Lille, BATE Borisov. Munich and Valencia for me
Group G: Barcelona, Benfica, Spartak Moscow, Celtic. Sorry to say this but Bye Bye Celtic
Group H: Manchester United, Braga, Galatasaray, CFR Cluj. United look to be in the best position of any of the British sides
Be nice to see our names up there next year eh? I wouldn't expect a lot of wins but to just get to the group stage means a financial windfall... plus it raises the club's profile abroad.
What!?
Time to bring this back I reckon. Real Madrid vs Man City tonight. Promises to be a cracking game.
Saw this stat on another forum regarding Mourinho's home record: He's only lost 4 of his 573 matches at home.
Joe Hart has got to be very disappointed with both the late goals. Should have had them both really.
I dunno. Ronaldo really smacked it. Even if Hart had gotten to it, with that wicked bounce it took, he never would have held it.
Definitely shouldn't be getting beat at the near post by Benzema, but was totally left in the lurch by Kompany ducking his head on the winner. Totally wrong footed him...
City now losing 2-1 to Ajax.
3-1 bye bye City!
Hope all the English sides go out so we hear less of this snoozefest of a "competition".Well Man United should certainly make the quarters and Arsenal are still in a strong position.
Hope all the English sides go out so we hear less of this snoozefest of a "competition".
Yeah ruby but I can see where he's coming from. If the Albion were in Eurpoe then of course we'd enjoy it because the game means more as we are invested in our club, however to a neutral CL game can be a bit dull at times.
Chelsea win 6-1 and get knocked out.
Embarrassing dive by Samaras really and quite a lucky penalty from Commons. Brace ourselves for the media fascination ::)
Just two words Liam......Kyle Lafferty :P
As much as you criticise Celtic they didn't qualify just on last nights game, its 6 group games not just one but don't let that get in the way of the bitterness ;)
Celtic lol. Lets see how much further they get when the heat is turned up.
Seriously, Albion are a better team than Celtic.
Juve beating Celtic after 3 minutes :D
Watched the game, I honestly think that if we were to play Celtic we would beat them with some comfort really.
Imagine the hiding we'd give to Rangers then... :D
Imagine the hiding we'd give to Rangers then... :D
The best United can do is give Real the ball. Sounds mad I know but a very large percentage of Reals' goals have been scored on the counter-attack. They beat Seville the other day 4 - 0 with all 4 goals coming from Seville corners !!! Seville took the corner, it got cleared and Madrid scored on the break. From open play, Madrid create f/all !!!Some say we were terrible against liverpool because we created f/all for 80 minutes and only threatened at set pieces and counter attacks. Does this mean that we're as good as Real? :D

If thats the way you want to interpret things mate........who am I to say otherwise :D :D :DYAY!!!! WE'RE AS GOOD AS REAL MADRID!!! SUCK IT VILLA
I would rather us have, 3 shots on goal and score from two of those efforts than have 20 shots on goal and score none of them.
How is Michael Oliver officiating in the Champions League?!!
Does everyone want English teams to win in Europe? I dont know if I'm different but I honestly never want then to win. I love seeing United and Arsenal fail in Europe.
Great to see United get cheated out of a result.
Oh and has Fergie got down the steps yet? ;D
Late, high and studs showing is not serious foul play ?
I think the rules would apply if this were an incident where two players challenging for the ball and Nani had raised his foot recklessly or with intent... but it wasn't. He simply tried to bring the ball down with a bit of skill and the other player ended up get a prod of the chest. They way he rolled around was pathetic. This is something that happens in every game of football and if a player raises his foot to control a ball means he has to be sent from the pitch then i feel the game is being ruined. Never was that a red card
Does everyone want English teams to win in Europe? I dont know if I'm different but I honestly never want then to win. I love seeing United and Arsenal fail in Europe.I'm over the moon when our biggest teams lose any game, but particularly when they get knocked out in Europe. British football is loaded significantly in favour of these clubs and the "Champions" League format and qualification just serves to perpetuate this. I'd back any British clubs that don't often get into Europe, except if they're from London of course!
Strange and sad to think that David Beckham is, in a sense, currently carrying the entire achievement of English football on his shoulders. Can we do no better than this?
Fanatstic by Dortmund. And they were so offside in the end! Looked like a rugby game, that final push. But it was good football. I like it when the officials take more of a hands-off approach. Totally neutral on this, but I felt bad for poor Malaga. So close!
They have been my outside bets since the early group stages by I thought they'd blown it tonight !

3-1 Dortmund at the moment and Ozil booked after asking the ref to book a player! good to see.
Without Messi Barca look a very average side.
They are. Great individuals but an average team by Europes's bests standards. Shows just how good Messi is.
0-1 Bayern Robben. looks like game over! wonder if they will bring on Messi now?
0-2 Pique own goal!0-3 Muller
All German final. Has the makings of a good tie.Agreed I'm sick of the media hype of Ronaldo v Messi.
I'm also pleased it won't be Messi vs Ronaldo hogging all the media attention.
Remember watching the Barca v Madrid semi final a couple of years ago which was nothing special. Very much looking forward to this final though.
That's right. If I remember correctly it featured endless fouls and persistent diving before Messi produced a bit of magic from nowhere.
Money wise, El Classico would have been the perfect final with the focus being firmly on the figureheads of modern day football, thankfully, we'll get to watch two efficient German sides who will both produce good football with a far greater team ethic. The way they have both dispatched over the Spanish giants has been eye-opening but entertaining also.
Bayern Munich have already signed Gotze so god knows what they will be like if they sign Lewandowski - This also comes with Pep Guardiola being in charge.
Big game two German sides......Im not seeing a goal fest! Probably be one bit of quality that seperates them. I think it will come from Bayern.
Champions League final tonight - Dortmund vs Munich.
Both two very good teams and I'm looking forward to the game. I don't have any feeling for either side, I'm hoping for a good game of football but I would like to see Dortmund come out on top giving their troubles many years ago and the way in which they go about their business, recruiting from their academy etc. Bayern are too reliant on purchasing players at high costs and having signed Goetze from Dortmund, it also wouldn't surprise me to see them purchase Lewandowski who is out of contract - no doubt Guardiola shall also spend a bit in the summer increasing their superiority in German football.
I also like Jurgen Klopp. He's a Paul Scharner character and this game needs characters like them.
Going to be an entertaining game.
Karaganda is an industrial city, built to exploit nearby coal mines using the slave work of prisoners of labour camps.Just like Glasgow! ;D
In exploiting the rich coal deposits, the Soviets undermined the entire city, and the town had to be abandoned completely and moved several miles to the south.
In the 1940s up to 70% of the city's inhabitants were ethnic Germans. Most of the ethnic Germans are descendants of Soviet Volga Germans who were collectively deported to Siberia and Kazakhstan on Stalin's order when Hitler invaded Soviet-annexed eastern Poland and the Soviet Union proper in 1941. Until the 1950s, many were interned in labor camps, often merely because they were Germans. The population of Karaganda fell by 14% from 1989-1999; it was once Kazakhstan's second largest city after Almaty. One hundred thousand people have since emigrated to Germany.Sounds like a real vacation spot. 8)
Karaganda was often used as the punchline in a popular joke in the former Soviet Union. Karaganda is fairly isolated in a vast area of uninhabited steppe, and is thought by many to be "the middle of nowhere".
a kazakh fan has just been on skysports and said they have sacrificed a sheep to help them win at celtic tonight. anybody up for this before swansea?I'd prefer sacrificing a Wolf or a Seal tbh !!

Well done to them I suppose (through gritted teeth).
Managed to save themselves around £13million by qualifying so I've read.
Heard Scott Brown was up to his usual dirty tricks, following the trend of Neil.
Maybe they could pay off a couple of Rangers bills with that ;)
Anybody catch the Benfica game last night? The referee should be sacked. Played 20 minutes of the second half with most of the pitch underwater, the ball coming to a dead stop. Amazed nobody got badly injured. Olympiakos had a certain goal saved by a puddle in the goalmouth!

I did, in my opinion someone from UEFA must have told both teams and the referee that the game has to be finished as it was an absolute farce. I believe something was said as both teams were just getting on with it and not complaining at all even when the incident happened what you mentioned.
Nothing to do with the fact I had an accumulator with Benfica to win and I would have won something if the game was abandoned, not at all...
But it was surreal, usually the players and managers would be telling the referee that it's dangerous to play on, but they carried on as if nothing was happening! The fans were furious and rightly so, they've paid to watch Champions League football, not the farce that we all saw. To be fair it did improve in the 2nd half, but they essentially had a 70 minute football match. Unbelievable. Surely there are contingency plans to cope with a postponed/abandoned game?
Haha, exactly the same here mate thats why I had it on after half time.
I turned off at 2-0. Sounds like a great game.
Noticed on Twitter that somebody was brave enough to have a tenner on a City victory when they were 2-0 down. Won over £1400.

Odds of 140/1? That seems extremely generous!
We really need Sunderland to win the League Cup so that an extra Europa League place doesn't go to the PL. Imagine if United failed to get into Europe at all! ;D
The quarter final draw
Barcelona v Atletico Madrid
Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund
Paris St-Germain v Chelsea
Manchester United v Bayern Munich
Real Madrid 3 up against Bayern. Chelsea should they get through could be seriously tonked by this lot!Your forgetting Mourinho's knack of getting big results against the odds like he did with Milan against Barca and again on sunday with Chelsea beating the scousers on thier own tip. Never underestimate him.
I thought Real Madrid were absolutely immense last night. Fantastic football.
Id hate to be a defender up against a front 3 of Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema...nightmares thinking about it!!
what about our lot
Your forgetting Mourinho's knack of getting big results against the odds like he did with Milan against Barca and again on sunday with Chelsea beating the scousers on thier own tip. Never underestimate him.
Anyway, they have to get to the final first and Atletico may have something to say about that !!! ;)
Bit od an aside, but Rosenberg has just scored his 2nd of the night, his 4th so far in Champions League qualifying. He's got 13 in 27 games prior to tonight for Malmo....
Totally beyond me how it didn't work for him here. Has talent and worked hard for it to work, plus he's a top bloke.
Shame for us, but I'm happy for him.

Never got the chance up front really did he. Except in pre season when he scored
#backtheberg
Markus scored twice last night as Malmo beat Salzburg 3-0 and 4-2 on aggregate and qualify for the Champions League group stage. His second goal was a very composed finish.
Malmo are the first Swedish team to reach the stage since Hellsingborgs in 2000. ;D

Welcome to WestBrom.com Markus, well done!
Man City are higher seeds than Liverpool, and yet have a much harder group. Meanwhile Arsenal are top seeds despite having had to qualify.
UEFA's ranking systems are a bit screwed up.
Markus Rosenberg scores for Malmo in the Champions League against Olympiacos.
All those who said he was rubbish.... He did it at Ajax and Werder Bremen and Malmo and now again at Malmo.... I still consider his time here one of the strangest statistical flukes I know in football. Him & Anelka should have been a brilliant pair.

Malmo 2 Olympiakos 0 in the Champions League. Both goals Rosenberg, and both goals quality.
He really did look like a top European striker based on the clips I saw.
Arsenal can pass it round beautifully at times defensively when pressed they ain't got a clue.
They won't have a problem then on Saturday.
I just think it was extremely stupid of the Liverpool player to give the referee a choice to make, despite looking over his shoulder twice he should know he has no need to put his hand out as the opposing player was nowhere near close enough to challenge him. At the same time I hardly see it as a foul to be honest, let them use it as an excuse but anyone who watched the game will be able to tell you they were clearly second best all night.
Red card all day long. Eyed him up and swung an arm out. He was two yards away so didn't need to do it.
Didn't make a difference to the outcome as Liverpool were shocking, bit like the famous 'atmosphere' . If anything they improved with ten men.
Basle fans were superb last night.
Never a red cardExcept that it is... Markovic looks over his shoulder TWICE then flails his arm back with fingers splayed. Essentially even if he didn't make contact, the INTENT is worth a red card by the fat that it was specifically aimed at the player's face. we know there doesn't have to be contact for it to be a dangerous action.

Terrible decision. Red card for a hand off = 7 vs 8 every week.
Terrible decision. Red card for a hand off = 7 vs 8 every week. You call whipping a backhand at another person's face a "hand off"? I call it more of an attempted a B***h slap.. By the rules of the sport near enough ANY intended contact with the face is a sending off. Which as Morany and I have stated is made in this case by the fact Markovic looks to see where the player is before committing. take the refs position into account where he sees the hand in front of the face and not the necessarily the depth and, from his POV, it's stonewall.

I can only assume that you have never played football. Was an attempt at a hand off. Player just wasn't as close to him as he thought. Terrible decision and terrible play acting

Where do Paul Scholes loyalties lie?? Haha, behave yourself. I'm an Albion fan.

He's on a different planet !

Real v Bayern final
Celtic 2-0 up at home to Malmo.
Rosenberg suspended for Malmo
Some decent ties , groups just been drawn for anyone interested :
Group A: Paris St-Germain, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Malmo
Group B: PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, CSKA Moscow, Wolfsburg
Group C: Benfica, Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, Astana,
Group D: Juventus, Manchester City, Sevilla, Borussia Monchengladbach
Group E: Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma, BATE Borisov
Group F: Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Olympiakos, Dinamo Zagreb
Group G: Chelsea, Porto, Dynamo Kiev, Maccabi Tel-Aviv
Group H: Zenit Saint Petersburg, Valencia, Lyon, Gent
All the english clubs should get through this time, with only Arsenal not winning their group. Don't think that happened for a few years.
Hate this tournment. How can you be in the champions league if you finish 4th
Not too bad to watch from this ankle but not for the squeamish I guessThat looks awful
https://youtu.be/7cL95tm56pY
He's just been tweeting :D
That looks awful
Shame, no sympathy for any United player. Good result as well.Have to say Jacko, Manc or not (and I can't stand them) you've surprised me with that reaction.
Shame, no sympathy for any United player. Good result as well.
Disgusting comment, I wouldn't wish serious injury like that on anyone from any club even our rivals Villa and Wolves.
I think the Liverpool board is red kop or something like that, I guess your comment is welcomed and applauded on there.
Ideye starts for Olympiacos tonightJust missed a great chance
Arsenal done really good, fantastic game. Now they'll go on to lose the next two.
Now they'll go on to lose the next two.
it was like it meant nothing to them.
yaya toure was a disgrace
I seriously think had it been Leicester they would have beaten Madrid last night, if they stick together they will supprise a few next season in this competition
Celtic though... ;D
Gamboa playing for Celtic tonight.
Only Messi, Suarez and Neymar to worry about :o
Gamboa playing for Celtic tonight.

Reports that he looked like a rabbit in the headlights and not up to that standard, but it was a particularly on fire Barcelona.
I'll be interested to see how he does over the course of the season.
Just shows how poor the standard of football is in Scotland. OK it was Barca, arguably the greatest side in the world, but Celtic were like rabbits in the headlights. Very poor.
And to think they just beat Rangers 5-1.
On Guardian football weekly someone said they thought Celtic would finish 12th in the premier league. Now we're not great but I'm 99% sure Barca wouldn't put 7 past us.
5 of the 7 goals were played in behind Gamboa but as you say it was Barca... I'm sure he'll be fine against Hamilton and Dundee.
Leicester looked very good and from what I hear so did Man City.
Could be a good year for English clubs in the Champions League.
Leicester did extremely well albeit against the worst team in the thing.Worst team in their group, I think it would be between Bruges, Celtic, Legia Warsaw and Rostov as to who is the worst team in the whole tournament.
What I wouldn't give to see us win 3-0 away in the Champions League...
...or win 3-0 at all...or win...or just score.
What I wouldn't give to see us win 3-0 away in the Champions League...

Brilliant. I was thinking just the same thing. Living in Leicester it is so hard at the moment. But on a positive note I have got a ticket for their Champions League match against Porto so maybe I can see some class and goals
Yep, I'm only immensely jealous!
What a joke >:(
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37720274
All about money again!
Think when Leicester get a proper tie they'll be found out. They've had it relatively easy so far

Think when Leicester get a proper tie they'll be found out. They've had it relatively easy so far
Isn't that what everybody was saying last season?
And I imagine they'll be beaten next week too
You are probably right, but they were hardly found out last night. Basically Athletico ran out of ideas, and you can see by the reaction at the end that they knew they had some work to do.......
But like I said they still lost. Athletico can run out of ideas next week and still go through with a 0-0. Leicester will still be knocked out whether they played well or not if they don't win
Thanks for clearing that up Brom, I didn't realise that ;)
Be positive Brom, they are the only English side in the Champions League and it makes a refreshing change that its not the 'usual suspects'.........
What a worldy that goal was
City just cruised passed Basel without getting out of 2nd gear and spurs looked immense away at Inter...
Inter? I watched them against Juventus ;D ;DI can't even blame predicted text ..complete brain fa*t from me...yes Juve.!!!!
Pep not quite up to achieving what Pardew managed ;)Oh yes he is he"s losing :D :D
Oh yes he is he"s losing :D :DI think you know what he is on about ;)
What makes me laugh is that football media painting the scenes as a few bad eggs spoiling it for everybody when there is clearly hundreds if not a few thousand outside the bus contributing to the ugly scenes. Yet we must remember that Liverpool have the most passionate fans. Ridiculous
Right with you. The way their fans are depicted as loveable, knowledgable, super supporters is laughable. This was not a few rogue hooligans with a bit of jolly banter, this was a concerted, orchestrated attack on the opposition team.
And just because it happens elsewhere? So what?
My question is this, what do you suppose the press reaction would be had Millwall fans behaved like this, or Leeds? There would be howls of anguish and a public enquiry. But those Scousers eh? Cheeky rascals just having a bit of a laugh.
Made me Join in and Sing You'll Never Walk alone that was passionate last night.More like never walk again if some of the misses thrown hit someone
Never a penalty...Oliver ruins yet another game...It was difficult to tell if it was. Defender shouldn’t have charged in. Buffon didn’t help the cause by getting himself sent off.
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid
Liverpool vs AS Roma
Liverpool now 2/1 favourites.
Oliver wouldn't have given it at the other end. That should be the first thing that goes through the referees mind.
So he shouldn't give it to Real Madrid. But if it happened to Juventus he should give a penalty as he would give it to Real Madrid?
Thank god that Liverpool didn't turn up on Saturday :o
They ran out of steam against us in the last 11 minutes. Different game next week now
The pitch has dried out evidently.
fantastic to watch, despite Roma getting a lifeline i still think Pool will get to the final. was strange watching an Italian side defend so poor and giving one of the best players in the world atm in Salah so much space. Strodder would have nailed him within 10 minutes.😋
Mo Salah thoughAs much as I don't like Kopp after what he said about us Liked him before that Moan about us I want Liverpool to do well because of Mo Salah hope they win the Champions league didn't rate him at Chelsea went quite Now I rate him at Liverpool.
:o
Love the way people are banging the Salah for the Ballon D'or trophy and how he should win it. Granted he should be in the running but unfortunately Cristiano Ronaldo is having the sort of season, and breaking the sorts of records that only get broke once in a lifetime.
CR7 290 games, 309 goals
Mo Who?
CR7 290 games, 309 goals
Mo Who?
I didn't realise he'd had such a good year. 300 plus goals is some going.
The word you're looking for is context...
Oh dear, you really are clutching at straws ;D
How? We're talking about THIS years European Footballer of the Year award? What's Ronaldo done THIS season?
Have the candidates for the Ballon d’Or been announced yet? If not, it’s a little premature to be putting any names forward, no matter how outstanding a season they are perceived to have had.
As you such a stickler for context, well here we go, so far this year.
CR7 played 40, scored 42 , Ratio 1.050 G/G (all competitions)
CR7 European Cup played 11, scored 15 Ratio 1.363 G/G
Salah played 47, scored 43, Ratio 0.914 G/G (all competitions)
Salah European Cup played 13, scored 11 Ratio 0.846 G/G
Oh and what has Salah done this season?
Kevin De Bruyne won a Premier League medal, so we know that winning things is no guarantee of an award.
Salah 47 games 43 goals 13 assists.
Ronaldo who?
I missed Millers OG, but I wasn’t on my own, Loris missed it as well ;D
Would that be the Loris that plays in goal for Spurs? no wonder he missed it he probably had his feet up at home watching the game on tv somewhere in the home counties. :D
I thought the Liverpool goalkeeper last night was "Loris" Karius, who I'm on first name terms with, obviously :D
Spurs keeper has 2 L's in his surname name I believe, Lloris :D
But I will stand corrected
Liverpool fans given 16,626 tickets for the final. I bet triple that turn up. They never learn.
Liverpool fans given 16,626 tickets for the final. I bet triple that turn up. They never learn.Isn't it something like an 80,000 seater stadium?
I don't hate Liverpool, I hate Klopp...not mad keen on Real Madrid either though...pity they can't both lose.Opposite with me. Reluctantly decided to support Liverpool as I think Klopp's a breath of fresh air for our game.
Opposite with me. Reluctantly decided to support Liverpool as I think Klopp's a breath of fresh air for our game. When you say 'our game', do you mean the one where he accused us of cheating? Or maybe the one where he celebrated with his team for drawing with us? Or do you mean the English game in general. The one he has a cheeky tooth-filled grin for when things go well, or the snarl when he feels he’s been cheated. I don’t mind you liking the guy, but I’ve met too many like him, I don’t care for him. ¡Hala Madrid!😉

He has gone back on what he said...not sure he actually said sorry for what he said, but anyway there was no need to say it in the first place he could have been more gracious or just said nothing. He didn't apologise, he just described the comments he made as "rubbish".
Come on Real - coupled with the result from Wembley earlier - make my day...Ditto. I’m so happy at the moment. :D
There’s an awful lot of tears being shed so far today.
Interesting that no Liverpool players seemed to go to Karius at the end of the game. He was left all alone in his area before a couple of Madrid players went to console him.Klopp also ignored Karius, showing his true colours.
Those loveable, salt of the earth scouse types eh? Warm hearted as ever in supporting one of their own.
tbf they were a couple of shocking goalkeeping errors!
Klopp also ignored Karius, showing his true colours.
Klopp also ignored Karius, showing his true colours.
Feel for Klopp, Liverpool by far the better of the 2 sides, Salah's arm wrenched out of it's socket by Ramos (no punishment), then the keeper chucked 2 in.I thought Liverpool certainly started strong, and with their high pressing game plan, Madrid we’re struggling to get into the game. After Salah went off, Liverpool started to drift back, opening the game to Madrid. There was only going to be one winner then. Whereas Liverpool are a good team, Madrid have a group of very talented individuals, and it showed. Modric was MOTM for me. Confident, and never put a foot wrong. Marcello looked like he was playing against kids. I must say, it was one of best games I’ve seen in quite a while. I also believe, despite unfortunate incidents, Madrid were worthy winners.
Needs a decent centre mid (Keita) and a decent goalkeeper, and they'll win the league.
I'm glad I didn't have a wager on the game, having been advised that Liverpool were unbeatable in this competition earlier.
Liverpool showed signs of naivety and Real Madrid's experience, overall quality and class were indisputable in the final analysis. Additionally, as soon as their talisman went off Liverpool started to flounder and there was only going to be one winner after that. Madrid could and should have scored more, Bale should have had a hat trick but for some quality last ditch desperate defending.
So, Liverpool are still trophyless under Klopp after being in charge at Anfield for 3 years and was this Klopp's third or fourth loss as a manager in a European final?
I do feel for Salaha and hope he recovers from injury in time for the World Cup, he is a quality player and would grace that stage.
I also felt for the young man Loris Karius, his mistakes cost Liverpool, but he wasn't alone on the night although his errors were glaring. I was surprised at the final whistle that it was the Madrid players that were consoling a distraught Karius with not one Liverpool player in sight to do so that I saw. I hope he can recover from this nightmare display and go on to have a great career ladened with Trophies
Karius has received death threats, for god sake it’s a game played by humans who make mistakes

It's already up to 333,546!
Jacko' gets about a bit :P ;) .
So far, Klopp's not very good a cup finals, he's now lost five in a row
German Cup: 2013/14 and 2014/15 with Borussia Dortmund
Champions League: 2012/13 with Borussia Dortmund
League Cup: 2015/16 with Liverpool
Europa League: 2015/16 with Liverpool
6 surely? They lost on Saturday.
“Loris Karius: Liverpool keeper concussed during Champions League final - doctorsâ€
That explains it all then, but at what stage in the match did he suffer the confusion?
Did anyone see any collisions that may have caused the concussion?

It's being reported that there is a proposal to move CL games to weekends in order to catch Asia and American markets! >:( >:( >:(UEFA deny and have denied since Der Spiegel broke the story early December
Domestic games to be shunted to mid week and could well be the death knell for the PL as we know it as the top six pi** of after the money (good riddance to 'em in my view)

Pep Guardiola - one of the best ever. He's done it in 3 major leagues. His teams just play scintillating football. Yes, he's got money but he was the one who rescued Messi from the scrapheap.
The Barcelona team he managed will never be surpassed IMO.
Messi was being released from the Barcelona academy for being too small. It was in Graham Hunters book from about 7 years ago. All other Barcelona coaches were happy for Messi to go.
He joined the Academy in 2002 and was playing in the 1st team 2 years later.
Was going to say, it definitely didn't happen. Barcelona essentially bought him as a teenager, relocated him and spent a fair bit of money of him.
Says a lot when Guardiola's only Champions League medals have come managing Messi.
Unbelievable start!
5 goals in 21 minutes. Cracking game.
Meanwhile in the other tie. Liverpool battering Porto and must be favourites to lift the trophy?
Incredible ending to the game VAR disallowed Sterling's hattrick and City winner in 93rd minute.
Ajax v Barcelona Final
And Both clubs can trace their footballing heritage to ex Albion Manager Vic Buckingham.
Loved it, loved the drama! Has anybody seen a replay of the offside with the lines they use? Wondered how clear it was as haven't seen anything.
He was offside maybe 3 or 4 inches. Very close.
Ouch, wanted to see them do the quadruple just to annoy Man U and Liverpool fans, never mind!
Liverpool played well but missed chances at crucial moments, should've made it 1-1 and given themselves a great chance. be interesting at Anfield where over the years we've see what they are capable of.
Thought it took a slight deflection, not that it made any difference, great goal. Liverpool need a Dortmund performance, and with their Legue exploits still ongoing I just don't think they've got it in them.I thought he took the goal superbly. The rest of the time he spent winding up the opposition. As a point of interest, what part of his leg did he use when he hit the woodwork for Messi’s first
Luis Suarez was absolutley superb.
Anyone wanting to see an example of near perfect, attacking passing football, take a look at this young Ajax side v Spurs. They never seem to panic into whacking the ball anywhere. They pass out from the back and when you are expecting a cross from the wing, they work the ball into the penalty box with short passes.
The ex-Southampton player Tadic is a key man, playing as a No.9, but obviously no typical target man. They haven't quite got the flair players of the great Cruyff, Neeskens, Krol team, but wouldn't surprise me if they go on and win the trophy.
And they disprove the theory that you need a fat cheque book to suceed. Most expensive players Tadic and Blind.
They'll get hammered by Barce.
Aren't these top European clubs aware that the Vile will be playing them in two years time?
They'll get hammered by Barce.
Not a fan of Liverpool..but what a performance.. Barca thought it was all over after the first leg..Suarez and Messi totally anonymous and can't remember watching 2 poorer full backs..TAA and Robertson would walk into that side..nice to see Suarez skulk off..Messi was semi anonymous but he still put Barca's clearest chances on a plate for Alba and Suarez.
Fantastic. Absolutely delighted for them. Hopefully Brighton can do them a favour Sunday.Their lot are going to be unbearable as it is. Let’s not make it worse. :D
I don't like them and Klopp is an absolute moron - so I was unhappy to see them win tonight. As long as they lose the league on Sunday and then to Ajax/Spurs then I will be satisfied.I'm with you
just brilliant, and honestly not suprised, said after the 1st leg we've seen Liverpool do the unthinkable in European football over so many years not to write them off. can't underestimate what a performance like that is against a team of Barcelona's calibre. one for the history books. That was one of Barcelona’s worst ever displays. After giving away possession numerous times in dangerous areas, falling asleep on the corner goal, they eventually woke up when it was too late. Their culture of never playing safety first was the undoing of them. Looking forward to a good game tomorrow.
credit where its due, great result !
Ajax 2-0 at half time and comfortable..2-2 game on.
Well done to Spurs and good luck in the final. Pochettino, what an excellent manager he is.Just heard that Kane, as club captain, ripped into them at half time. What’s a club captain? ::)
This is terrible, hate spurs and levy.
I was hoping Ajax would clean the floor with them.
I applied and failed to get tickets for the final. I think they'll be going for a fortune.
I was offered £500 by a Chelsea fan when they won the league at our place, but this will be a different level.
I hope the lesser evil of Liverpool win it now and spurs finish 4th and Arsenal win the europa league and deny spurs a place in next year's champions league.
Poxy spurs always unsettle other clubs' players like they did with berahino and try to get the price knocked down that way whilst proper top clubs like man utd get told the price and either pay it or walk away.
But, when selling their players spurs want top dollar. I just hope erickson and alderweld see out their contracts and leave them with f all transfer fees.

Liverpool meanwhile raided some very promising young players from our academy, paid next to nothing in compo' and moved cheerfully on. Wash, rinse repeat as they presumably go around other club academies too. Talking of unsettling players pop onto a Southampton forum sometime and ask them what they think of Liverpool's recruitment techniques. They really aren't a favbourable alternative transfer wise to Tottenham. I'm really not the greatest fan of either club to be honest.
That's why earlier in this thread I said i wasn't happy about the Liverpool comeback and mentioned them taking dhanda and sinclair, I had hoped Ajax would have won and wiped the floor with them in the final.
I know they unsettled lallana and mane amongst at Southampton, and the dingles claim klopp asked their player vinagre if he fancied living in Liverpool after their fa Cup game, but now in my eyes they are the lesser evil because they have won it before and if spurs win it we'll never hear the end of it.
I just think it a pity that Ajax, a club that does all the right things in bringing through their youth and junior players, just lose out. The most expensive players in their team were Tadic and Blind. Full credit to Pochettino, who I think is right up there with the greatest managers in the modern era, but its ironic that 3 of Spurs' best players were all products of the Ajax academy.
Two great comebacks by Liverpool and Tottenham, but whose was the greatest?
I can't stand Liverpool, their fans, Klopp or Scousers I hope Spurs smash them in the Final!I am totally with you
Don't sit on the fence mate, say what you think eh.
So you hate everything about Liverpool city and its people, what a nice person you are.

So you hate everything about Liverpool city and its people, what a nice person you are.

I see,so thats alright then mate.
If you were in a horse race you'd be the one with blinkers on.
Try living in Millwall or Tyneside or Nottingham or Birmingham etc everywhere seems to have its problems, havnt you suffered similar anywhere else.
It must be milk and honey where you live, lucky chap.
He's already stated it's not about the city of Liverpool...
I have been to Liverpool and think it's a great city, but as a club it has too many plastic fans who can be unbearably arrogant at times. In some ways they are like a more successful Villa, i.e. their fans have an entitled attitude and see many other clubs as beneath them etc.
I'm sure there's some good fans in there but I live in Birmingham and I've met far too many Liverpool fans who support them because they're successful rather than a genuine love. That is what annoys me, it's a fake support; true support is suffering, losing games and playing badly. Ironically a lot of them moaned about Hodgson when they finished mid-table when most clubs in the country would be very happy with that. It was a one-off blip and literally that is the worst the club has been in years.
So I think it's only fair that their fans are seen as worse than most, because they are. Unlike the other places you've mentioned, their fan base is mostly unorganic and has no connection with the club. They are plastic and arrogant and that is why they are disliked.
Hodgson deserved all he got from Liverpool fans, he tried to replicate what he did at Fulham with one of the biggest 4 clubs in the world, it was doomed to failure. He also tried to impose his conservative style of play on a side that have been passing the ball for fun for 4 decades and winning everything in sight. It was a massive learning experience for Roy and one that he seemed to not pick up the lesson from: as England coach he made all the same mistakes.

You've both managed to highlight exactly why people have a problem with them
Turned the argument, didn't answer about heysel, didn't answer about smashing the city coach, didn't answer about the fireworks.....but it's now Roy hodgsons turn 🙄
Heysel would have happened irrespective of the clubs and fans involved. Hooliganism was rife, the stadium was crumbling.
The fireworks happens all over the world. England fans do it regularly.
The Man City coach incident is inexcusable.
Don't sit on the fence mate, say what you think eh.I am a nice person! I can only speak from experience I have been to Anfield and Goodison horrible people also been to Liverpool just to visit and with work. I also worked with Scousers in London never once have I had a good experience with them so I stick by what I said.
So you hate everything about Liverpool city and its people, what a nice person you are.
Where are you from that's so great?
Heysel is an incredibly sensitive subject. However you cannot blame Liverpool for it. All you have to do is some light reading, speak to people who went to the games back in those days and the hooligan element was ever present. The 'taking' of home ends whilst not as ever present was still active.I saw heysel live on the to , I cried at the time
Two wrongs don't make a right but you can't be critical of the fans who were there when it was pretty much the way pockets of fans of every club behaved. The disaster down to the shocking state of the stadium.
Of all the armchair fans in Britain I think Liverpool have the worst. It doesn't bother me who wins it as there will be pros and cons to both. I don't like Spurs either so it's a tricky one. In a nutshell I don't care.
I also find it funny how people will add a story of kids minding a car (which is a great affirmation of stereotype) followed by not seeing it anywhere else. My first time at The Emirates and I saw the exact same thing happen, so find it hard to believe that it has only been witnessed once and just so happens to be at Anfield.
Either way, great semi finals. Won't watch the final.
I saw heysel live on the to , I cried at the time
I've watched it back since and when Liverpool fans are picking up pices of metal and brick work and charging at the juve fans....yes you can blame the fans that were there .
I have never seen the "look after your car " at any other ground, it's factual (to me) so I stand by it
The general behaviour of livpool fans is bad , Munich was a terrible disaster , no one can condone mocking it

You stated"you can't blame the fans that were there"
I genuinely don't understand this point.
You stated"you can't blame the fans that were there"
So what were you blaming them for? Weapons and hooliganism went hand in hand unfortunately during that time. Absolutely nothing new there.
Were the Italians armed with anything at all? Any answer other than yes would amaze me as they are arguably worse than the Turkish fans.
There are many hypothetical questions that can be asked about Heysel.
One question that was already answered by both clubs before the match though was that Heysel wasn't fit enough to host the game. Both sides wanted it moved. It never happened.
During the tragedy the policing numbers were inadequate. Juventus fans attacked were in the neutral end and should never have been in there. Ticket distribution was a contributing factor.
The conduct of both Liverpool and Juventus following the tragedy (and I mean decades on) was nothing short of shocking in my opinion.
Margaret Thatcher then waved the white flag and lost innocent clubs like Everton the opportunity for their greatest side to ever go on a European adventure. How much of an impact did that have on their history? The Everton players to this day are still furious at that.
The most obvious loss though was that of life. To blame the deaths on Liverpool fans, some of whom I'm well aware stood trial, and hold it against their fans of present I find a bit bemusing. The whole disaster was more than preventative in nearly every aspect.
To be fair i've had that at the villa as well, few years ago now.
I would laugh my balls off if Barcelona fans re-paid the favour by setting fireworks off in the middle of the night tonight outside the Liverpool hotel, just like Liverpool fans did to them in their last game. That is all.Seconded, although it does give them their coveted "something to blame"
I have changed my mind and now I want spurs to win.
As I have decided that I want as many teams in England to win the champs league, that way it dilutes the vile's win.
They are so sacred about it my vile supporting brother want the Germans to win when they lost to Chelsea.
Klopp was disrespectful to my club on more than one occasion. He is a good Manager but finds it very difficult to give credit to the opposition in my opinion. Cannot stand the man, and I hope his team are soundly beaten by Tottenham, who have a Manager with real class. So for tonight only its a "Come on you Spurs" for me
How to ruin the atmosphere of a football game. Stick a band on the pitch 10 minutes from kick off. >:(
Boring match, terrible outcome
Harry Kane made a problem for poch by proclaiming himself fit in the press, fit enough to do bugger all other than dive as it turned out
If Spurs don't start with Kane and Dele......but do start Lucas M and Lamela ...I think they win
Get in. 6 times. Thoroughly deserved.Play Barca when they haven't been kept up all night
Play Barca when they haven't been kept up all night
A game that will be remembered for Imagine Dragons, a blue pitch on teams arrival, a goal at the beginning and end. Extremely disappointing. Should’ve been played in the UK. Same with the Baku fiasco.
Dele Ali is the most overrated player in the prem. I would have started Lucas over him today and you could have still slotted Kane in then.
Just wondering how Liverpool can win the ‘Champions’ League when they haven’t been champions for 30 years.
???
Be remembered more for the pitch invader I think :D
She had a peachy bottom! ;D...and what about those melons?? :D
Reflecting on the final on Saturday, I think Liverpool were a tad fortunate to win that game. But they had the highest stats in the goals for department.
I was particularly disappointed with Deli Ali, who does flatter to deceive. But more so with Mo Salah, but I suspect it reflects on his season overall and only managing 19 Premier League goals
Didn't think it was remotely fortunate. The early penalty and Tottenham's timid approach meant Liverpool could just sit on the lead. Had they needed to go through the gears they would have imo.
Does anyone know when the 2019/20 Championship fixtures will be published?I think you’re in the wrong room mate. Try next door. :D

Draw for the last 16, some toughies in there
Borussia Dortmund v Paris St-Germain
Real Madrid v Manchester City
Atalanta v Valencia
Atletico Madrid v Liverpool
Chelsea v Bayern Munich
Lyon v Juventus
Tottenham v RB Leipzig
Napoli v Barcelona
Prediction: only Liverpool make the QFs of the English teams.
Surprising prediction from Jacko ;)

I just don't get Atleti, spend over a £100m on a player yet still play like a Pulis team. Yes it is effective and they are very good at what they do but I wouldn't want to watch it every week.

First concrete story about a European Premier League today on Sky News.
Please let it happen.
It's a CL replacement, they would still play in the Premier League I believe.

Not champions league but Kemal Roofe has just scored for Rangers from inside his own half . Amazing goal considering the weather , lashing down with rain.
What's Fred got to do to get sent off? He's just stamped on a PSG player's foot.
Didn't watch the first half but he has now got a 2nd yellow, to be fair harsh one as well
Deserved to go for the headbutt first half but that was never ever a yellow for what he went for, clearly won the ball no idea why VAR didn’t overturn it or the ref at least go and look at the monitor.Yes, but he was lucky to get away with a stamp before which the ref gave nothing for.
The match between Paris St-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir has been suspended after players walked off the pitch in their Champions League Group H tie. This is 2020 the ability to take offence is infinitesimal.
Apparently one of the match officials referred to a player as “the black guy†The player concerned was in fact black.

There is no excuse for this really.id heard the official was trying to identify one of the couching staff. Not saying that is true but I couldn’t name Albion’s staff members let alone another teams.
These are all well known footballers, officials would be aware of the name of each player and failing that shirts have numbers on. There's absolutely no reason for officials to be referring to people as black and white.

You can hear what Demba Ba was saying "when you say white guy you say 'this guy' and when it's a black guy you say 'this black guy'" and it a point I was debating with a friend as she will never describe a person by the colour of their skin. She'll say "the person in the red top" or whatever and it's something I never really thought about so it's interesting to see it come up.
If I was, let's say, working in a cafe and the 2 people, a black person and a white person ordered a latte and tea, I would probably say "the latte is for the white guy and the tea for the black guy." But I don't think that's separating them and in the game last night there were many black and white players.
I guess it's a discussion for somewhere else in the bigger issue. I don't think I've gone into politics here, I've spoken about an issue in a Champions League game and I hope the mods agree.
Fair play to them for walking off and standing up for themselves in the moment.
There is no excuse for this really.

The word used last night to describe the colour black in the offiicials native tongue is "negro" which doesnt mean the same in their language as it's racist english counterpart. Maybe Demba Ba heard the word "negro" and kicked off when he heard it thinking he was being racist but if so Ba needs to educate himself that negro doesn't always mean what he believes it to mean. Especially if not in english.
At my company we had a black guy called Marcus, the only black guy who sat in a particular area. On more than one occasion I needed to direct people to him. After saying speak to Marcus, the next question was usually which one is Marcus. I'd always say the black guy. I wouldn't always have seen him that day or be able to see him to use another reference point.
I genuinely dont know if that is right or wrong anymore, but it was certainly no ill intent from me and no offence was taken by him. He would have no problem and identify himself as the black guy.
In fact, as a friend of his. I know he would absolute wet himself if he ever heard someone stumbling around trying to think of another way to describe him if you were trying to highlight the easiest thing to recognise. Same way if it was a guy with long hair, or a big beard, you'd use that. Short hair male, 5'10" to 6'1" doesn't often narrow the field does it.
I dont know if the words here or context was the same, but I would assume it wasn't for the players to walk off.

It wasn’t a player, it was a member of the coaching/training staff. No numbers, no names on show, dressed head to toe in black training gear.Very well put sir
4th official is Romanian, he used the Romania word for black which is ‘Negru’....Demba Ba took offence thinking he said something else.
I think it’s been taken out of context completely.
Everyone screaming for diversity and then not accepting that in other languages the word for black is similar to a term in the English speaking world that would be racist.
I’m unsure what’s racist about saying ‘the black guy’ either? What exactly is racist in that term? And if it’s racist then should ‘Black Lives Matter’ be changed to ‘Lives Matter’ to ensure that no offence can be taken anywhere

Good summary Tom. I didnt know the full story yesterday but I did wonder why some were kicking off for using the term black guy. Is the word black now offensive?
I stayed quiet yesterday as I really didn't want an argument, so I am pleased you have posted this. Sensible as usual.
From day 1 I have always thought that it should be 'All lives matter' but even that has the capability of upsetting some.
While that is true you could make the reverse argument that officials should be aware if words in their own language could me misconstrued as racist in another language, especially if that is the language they community to the players in.

The proposal is stalled because there is a dispute between UEFA and the ECA over who controls the Commercial Rights.
It is dreadful on so many levels. Bad for most clubs domestic leagues and the competitive balance of the game. It is also a slow acting poison for the broadcasters who will be footing the bill.
Seriously a properly constructed Super League would be better than this dogs breakfast.
I've been advocating for the super league for years, its an inevitability so just do it properly and let us (the rest) get on with real football. I have no interest whatever in champions league football and most importantly will not spend a penny on it, this will not change for the super league.Don't want a super league if that confines us to the second tier of domestic football.

On Saturday's evidence we don't need to feel inferior to the likes of Chelsea.
great as saturday was, we cannot compete with the "big boys" on their self propagated / manipulated playing feild for more than an isolated occasionSo like the American league with no promotion or relegation. Can't see the point of supporting a team which can't get promoted.

They don't want you as a fan, they want the folks in India / China / Krygystan etc who will pay to watch and maybe buy a shirt every other year depending on who is currently successful and worthy of their transient "support". Much as I have a small soft spot for the Green Bay Packers.
This isn't too far away from the impression I got off Williams and Goodman (?) at a supporters do just after the pre season tour in the Far East prior to the Pulis/Pardew/Moore season. They were off before the season was out.
..... its just a matter of time !

Much as I have a small soft spot for the Green Bay Packers.I'm not bothered who else around the world tunes in to watch English football even if they are transient 'supporters' who would switch between clubs like some people switch their favourite supermarket. As long as the Albion don't get boxed into a league where the height of our ambition is to be better than Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town. And I bet the vast majority of Wolves and Villa fans would agree with me on that.

And to bring it back to the CL thread, as long as teams are picked on sporting merit, and not by some 'formula' which makes sure the big clubs always take part.
I've got some bad news for you... that's exactly what they're doing with this Swiss modelWell, I think and hope there will be a lot of opposition to it. And not just here, but all around Europe. In fact I was watching an interview with Rudi Voller, the Director of Football at Bayer Leverkusen, and he said he is 100% against it, even if it helped German clubs.
How on earth does Choupo-Moting start in a champions league quarter final?
Bayern look so lost attacking wise with him.
What do I know, he just scoredThats so funny, I agree by the way, but its so funny
Bellingham gets his first Champions league goal tonight, only for Phil Foden to score a sensational goal to win it for Man City.
I’d have no idea what to do if I was the England manager preparing for the Qatar World Cup. We are rivalling France for the most loaded front four in world football. By 2022 and also the 2024 Euro’s, we will have potentially world class players not even making our bench.
So, to try and think of them all, we have; Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Sancho, Bellingham, Foden, Calvert-Lewin, Greenwood...Has Jake retired from International football?
Am I forgetting anyone ;)

I think we're particularly weak at centre forward. Any injury to Kane and the drop off is alarming.Yep....many talk about Calvert Lewin but for me he is nowhere near.
Stan's point about goalkeepers is spot on too. Hopefully Henderson can step into the void once he gets De Gea off his back at club level.
We won a battle but we are losing the war. UEFA have continued with their proposals for an expanded Champions League which will see 36 clubs in the Group stages and the Group stage games increased to 10. This was put together as a sop to the big clubs and they responded with the Super League. As such they need to rethink these proposals.
While obviously less revolutionary than a breakaway this will have a knock on effect for the domestic leagues. The football calendar is pretty full and there is no practical means of accommodating another 4 fixtures in the pre Christmas period. Something has to give and top teir leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A) probably will be under pressure to slim down to 18. Obviously the negative impact will only be felt by 2 teams in each league so won't draw the widespread condemnation nor trigger the solidarity that was evident last week.
Not as bad but still a step in the wrong direction toward fewer teams becoming increasingly dominant until we have a super league by default rather than design.

Chelsea beat Real 2-0 and set up CL Final v City. Chelsea deserved the win. Wonder if we would also have beaten Real.
Foden and Mount starring in Champions League semi finals. Hard not to be excited about England's chances over the next 3 or 4 tournaments.
Over the two legs that Real Madrid side have been appalling
You could have mistaken them for one of the old masters teams you’d see on sky sports
.......In the battle of the plastics I'm royal blue I think.
Another crazy decision making two teams from the same country travel to a country with 20,000 plus cases for a cup final.
What's wrong with Wembley?

Should play it at Villa Park ;)
Approximately equidistant...
Should play it at Villa Park ;)Or the Hawthorns, if capacity is not an issue at the moment. Excellent playing surface and we could do with a few extra quid. ;)

Christ they've actually offered :-X
City can't get into their rhythm. Chelsea picking openings quite easily in their defence. If Werner could finish, it would be 3-0.
From what I can see. All streams are rubbish.

Who cares?
A "Champions League" final featuring no champions.
Its a joke, its nonsense, its bullxxxx. However anyone spins it.
Couldn't give a toss who wins it. Its meaningless and pathetic.
Maybe I dreamt it but didn’t Citeh win the league this month?
Fine that qualifies them for next season not this. The only club that qualifies for this season's Champions League by rights is Liverpool.
Whole competition is an absolute joke.
You're cheerful... Was a superb performance by Chelsea, City were nullified and Foden anonymous.
Irrelevant. Doesnt matter, neither should be there no matter how anyone preformed on the day. Neither were Champions full stop, shouldnt have been in a "Champions League".
Theres no ifs and buts.
The early 90s are looking for you. They want you back ;D
Defensive masterclass from Tuchel and Ngolo Kante is a fantastic player.Agreed. I had Kante and Haveritz down as the best players. City just couldn't get their game together and started humping it last 15 minutes.
He's now won the league twice, Champions league and World Cup...the Euros are up next :o
Fraudiola got found out again.
I'm sorry, but if you can't see what a great coach Guardiola is, then you don't understand football.
Did he get it wrong last night? Yes, undoubtedly. He should have played with a holding midfielder and one of Aguero or Jesus. Does that make him a bad coach? No, not by a long shot, they all get things wrong.
But if you can't look at what he's done with City, Barca, and Bayern, in different countries at different times, and see a great coach, then I don't know where to start with you.
what he's done with City, Barca, and Bayern, is the issue I have with him, do it with Burnley or a in fact any club with limited resources and then I'll acknowledge his greatness (same goes for Mourinhio) . I personally give Rafa more kudos than either Guardiola or Mourinhio.
Now you can start with me ;)
BREAKING: UEFA have told Juventus that they WILL be allowed to play in the Champions League next season despite their involvement in the Super League. (Source: ANSA)What?? Another football scandal? It’s just another episode that will forgotten about. Qatar???🤪
An out and out scandal
Did a double take at Lincoln red imps being in european football !!!!!!
you learn something new every day !
I see Celtic have started the season well...
Pretty sure they played Rangers last season...from Gibraltar aren't they?

They did - they lost 5-0.
Pretty sure they beat Celtic 1-0 in 2016.
Rangers doing their best Impression of Celtic in Europe.
1-0 up against 10 men at Half time, now 2-1 down by 60 mins
Scottish football really isnt very good is it. Statement not question.Malmo are a decent side, but Scots League isn’t a high standard by any measure.

Sebastian Haller scores 4 on CL debut as Ajax win 5-1. No spectacular goals, just good anticipation being in the right spot and then being composed at the right moment. Looks the ideal sort of centre forward.Watched him a fair bit when he was in Germany , really good striker, bit like Rondon but better with his feet.,wasted years at West Ham but will do well at Ajax.
