Queen Elizabeth ii
« on: September 08, 2022, 03:50:31 PM »
It sounds like the Queen is in a bad way. Under doctor supervision and all her children have gone.

I'm not a royalist at all, but as far as I'm concerned the Queen has always acted in a respectful and dignified way. As you'd expect, some of the rubbish on twitter is disgusting

The Queen is under 'medical supervision' but with all members of the immediate family making their way to Balmoral it looks like it could be a bit more than that.

God save the Queen.

Without being cynical, I think we've had this scenario a few times before from memory? She is very tough and may pull through like before. Mind you, she is very old now.

Nothing like this before, the BBC are in black, members of the household and family are there or on their way to Balmoral. Notes passed to the PM during parliament. I think we are on the verge of an announcement. Hopefully this is wrong though.

I'm not a Royalist but have admiration for the Queen and time for a few others but it will be a sad say when she goes which I think will be very soon if not today given the news that is coming out. I did notice that around mid-day Sky reporters suddenly started wearing black jackets and ties so something more serious is going on.

Some of the bile on Twitter is to be expected as the place is a cesspit.

Unfortunately, there is a section of our society that lack any decency or morals we all know who they are.
Thankfully the majority respect the Queen and the brilliant job she has done for 70yrs.

I was literally thinking my Dad might want to go out now with my Stepmum and get anything they need because she won't have long left and the shops will close when she dies and then half an hour maybe an later it was announced she had. A sad day and the end of an era. She gave this country tremendous service and a stability the likes of which I fear is not going to be replaced, especially when you look at the politicians now in charge.

They should watch some of the old news reels about Elizabeth II and maybe they would learn a thing or two about grace and dignity.

Exactly, they are just ignorant. You don't have to be a Royalist (i am) to show respect to a 96 year old who as passed away.  At the end of the day she was a mother, grandmother, Great grandmother etc. Don't understand some people's thinking and hatred, shame really.

Really sad; my wife and I.

I'm actually shocked at how strongly I feel. Like many of you I'm not a Royalist but I much prefer our current status to that of a Republic. (After all, Cromwell was a power mad d1ckhead!)

She was the best ambassador and servant to our country that you could ever have.

Still in shock today, went out to get a few bits for my daughter and I’ve never known an atmosphere so somber.

I’m really surprised how much this has hit me and I can’t put my finger as to why. It’s a bit disconcerting to be honest.

When my dad passed, the were only a few words of comfort I hung onto, and they keep bouncing round my head today, and as fellow baggies you’ll understand why:

   The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me

I'm not a huge royalist by any means, I'm not against them either. On balance I'm more pro than than con. I understand people have different views about our monarchy and I don't have a problem with that.

I think at a time like this, whatever views people have, all should at least show some respect for a 96 year old lady that has represented her country for seventy years and has lost her life. Anyone that can't act with dignity and show that respect needs to have a long look at themselves because it doesn't make them much of a human being does it?

As for whether sporting events shouldve been cancelled over the weekend, I can see both sides of the coin here. Authorities are damned if they do, damned if they don't. My only issue is, if they are going to have period of mourning shouldn't that have been extended all round?

I think having a bank holiday for the funeral I completely agree with and ALL companies, emergency services aside, should be made to fully honour that bank holiday, no running on skeleton shifts.

Excellent post, personally I look upon royals as I do with people in other walks of life some deserve our respect and some don't, the Queen without a shadow of a doubt deserves our utmost respect and gratitude for leading the country for over 70yrs going above and beyond.

My wife and I have tenious links to the Queen because I was born in February 1952 a very important month for her
My wife and I were married on 20 November, same day the Queen & Prince Phillip got married, we didn't realise that at the time though.
A few years ago upon a family Christmas holiday that I used to take us to Scotland every year, we stayed in Ballater and went to Craithie kirk only to find that the Queen & Phillip & Charles decided to join us on that Christmas morn
A lovely and special Christmas for my wife and young children.
We have great respect for her and thank her for her incredible service to this country.

A Queen Elizabeth II Tale

Members of the Household Cavalry were on Guard of Honour waiting for the King of Saudi Arabia on Horseguards.

Right Flank Scots Guard (100 guardsmen) gap HM Queen mounted in uniform and CO, Col Gerald, then Queens Company Grenadier Guards(100 guardsmen).

They were stood at ease waiting. Col Gerald's charger (horse) erupted with horse poo, full volume for two minutes. Col Gerald says, "Sorry about that your Majesty!"

She replies in a wonderful voice, "That's alright Gerald, I thought it was your horse!"

200 guardsmen silently cried with laughter and tapped their rifle butts on the gravel. From that moment every man there adored her!

So typical of our late Queen 😂😂😂

The Poet Laureate, has written, through the metaphor of the Lily of the Valley, the Queen's favorite flower, a poem to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Floral Tribute by Simon Armitage

Evening will come, however determined the late afternoon,

Limes and oaks in their last green flush, pearled in September mist.

I have conjured a lily to light these hours, a token of thanks,

Zones and auras of soft glare framing the brilliant globes.

A promise made and kept for life - that was your gift -

Because of which, here is a gift in return, glovewort to some,

Each shining bonnet guarded by stern lance-like leaves.

The country loaded its whole self into your slender hands,

Hands that can rest, now, relieved of a century's weight.

Evening has come. Rain on the black lochs and dark Munros.

Lily of the Valley, a namesake almost, a favourite flower

Interlaced with your famous bouquets, the restrained

Zeal and forceful grace of its lanterns, each inflorescence

A silent bell disguising a singular voice. A blurred new day

Breaks uncrowned on remote peaks and public parks, and

Everything turns on these luminous petals and deep roots,

This lily that thrives between spire and tree, whose brightness

Holds and glows beyond the life and border of its bloom.

Rest in Everlasting Peace, Your Majesty

God Save The King!

Rest easy ma'am, time for the 'young un' to do his bit. There can't have been a longer apprenticeship in royal history....... a true mark of your legacy as we move forward.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.

Whatever anyone may think about our politicians and the state of our public services, nobody can organise pomp and ceremony quite like the British.

Wonderful service yesterday which was absolutely perfect, makes you proud to be British.

I heard this story on the radio the other day that made me laugh out loud. Some of you will be aware of it but it just shows what a lovely person the Queen was.
