I know it's dangerous to compare two different sports but I believe our current situation mirrors that of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL comp of 2017.
Throughout the year their coach, Des Hasler, a very successful and admired head coach, had the Bulldogs playing a very safety first and very boring game plan. It was just one off the ruck in attack, defend at all costs and he had the teams hooker banned from running the ball, he was clearly instructed to just pass the ball from dummy half.
This type of play saw them lose games, the players soon lacked confidence and opposing teams knew how they were going to play and acted accordingly. The result was a long losing streak and backlash from the fans. The coach did not change his ways and continued on his regular pathway.
Something had to give. And it did.
3 games out from the end of the season the players decided to ditch the coach's game plan and throw the ball around. The result? Three solid wins on the trot and Hasler was shown the door at the end of the season.
All this sound familiar?
If the players are truly unhappy and want to play more attacking football then why not ignore TPs instructions and go all out against Spurs.
Then we may see some changes in the Manager role.
