Peter Odemwingie Joins Cardiff City
« on: January 11, 2012, 06:21:54 PM »
A curious report in The Times today (11/01/12).
QPR have been offered Odemwinge, who is surplus to requirements at WBA.

Sorry, but The Times is hidden behind a pay wall, so you can't see it unless you subscribe to the newspaper.
Perhaps someone else can check to confirm I'm not dreaming!

Yep surplus to requirements because this club is absolutely over-loaded with good strikers, why do we need Odemwingie when we have so many Premiership quality strikers? We have Long; Cox; Fortune; and Bednar, that's more than enough quality for any club, it's a bit pointless keeping Odemwingie when we've got those four players locked in an intense battle for the two forward positions. Sell him, sell him right now.

I also heard this as I listened to talkSport in the press review...

They said we OFFERED him to QPR.
This to me, can only suggest that we must be further down the line of a signing that is let on.

That's the only thing it suggests to you? Doesn't it also suggest to you that talkSport's claim is complete and utter absolute bull?

I am not sure about this plainly QPR have money to spend and might pay over the odds given their plight. On the basis of his performance against Everton I would not hesitate to sell him but and this a huge but we absolutely have to have a replacement lined up.

Actually Kicking Pigeons I meat if that is a true claim...then thats the only reason I can see as to why we would offer him to QPR

So a striker who scored 15 goals last season and isn't doing too badly this season has been deemed surplus to requirements because we have Roman Bednar and Marc Fortune who will obviously score more than 15 goals and we will even let him go to a team who are rivals in league position  ;D

Also heard this on Talksport yesterday.

I reckon it's  a load of garbage unless we are nailed on to get someone else in but need the funds.

Prepare your fiery arrows...

This one has a ring of truth because of the wording. To say qpr have made an offer is easy and usual but to say that he has been offered by WBA is unusual and unlikely so I'm forced to think there may be truth in it. That said DA, RH and JP aren't stupid so if it is true a big name or very talented player must be close to signing and we need some readies.

Fire at will.

The only possible way I can see it being true is if we sign a big name on a perm contract pretty soon then offload him. That said I don't think we would offload him to a rival league team fighting for survival like us.
