For those going to Swindon tomorrow (from the Swindon Evening Advertiser) - wba.co.uk confirms:

SWINDON Town's home pre-season friendly against Championship side West Bromwich Albion tomorrow will be split into two 60-minute matches.

The first hour-long game kicks off at 3pm at The Energy Check County Ground and will see the Town first team take on their Baggies counterparts.

The second game will see a young Swindon side take on Albion's U23 team.

Each game will have a water break on the half-hour mark due to the hot temperatures expected tomorrow afternoon and there will be a 15 minute half-time break in-between the two matches.

Rondon not in the two separate Albion sides selected this afternoon. Is he on his way?

Especially the back line, two aged trialists alongside two youngsters today.

Are we going to have a separate thread for the game immediately after? This could get confusing.  :D

After looking at the two teams put out today, I think we need to consider a mid table battle/ late promotion push as the very highest of our expectations.

Yeah because the transfer window has closed and we don't have Rondon, Gibbs, Johnstone, Chadli, Nyom, Bartley, Hegazi, Dawson, Field, McClean and HRK still on our books.

What is wrong with our fans?

Impressed with his goal at Barnet and pleased he has scored again. Early days but promising signs from him.

The same chadli who is injured again?
The same McLean who you genuinely believe will be here.

One of Hegazi/Dawson won’t be here minimum, same with rondon/Rodriguez.

Wasn’t it two hour long games? Do they count as games? Did anyone bother going? This has to be the most confusing game thread ever.  :o

For the first 60 minutes, despite taking the lead, we were comfortably outplayed but with the absence of any senior defenders we struggled to defend with any solidity and struggled to get the ball out from the back. Livermore, JRod and Kyle Edwards were probably the players who looked like they had a touch of class about them. Number 5 who I think was Jack Fitzwater looked on another level to the rest of the defence and could probably play a part in and around the first team squad but I'd be worried if he was our first or second choice back up CB. Good prospect but don't think he is quite ready for this season. Brunt was woeful in central midfield but it always takes him a whole to get his fitness up.

During the second game take a bow Gareth Barry. He was on a different level to anybody else on that pitch, admittedly against a second string Swindon side (I think). If he turns up I feel he could be a really important player this season and it was great to see him come over and clap the fans. Matt Phillips looked fit and sharp and again Kyle Edwards impressed until he came off. Burke had a few useful runs and touches too. I also though the tall lad at the back who came on looked nice and solid but his name escaped me.

Richardson and Reo-Coker are not what we are looking for and we absolutely should not be offering either of them a contract.

Overall I think we will be in good shape come the start of the season and we will get a clearer picture during the Aberdeen game.

Thanks for that write-up bud, much appreciated.

Nice to hear that Edwards looked good again, early days but it is promising and sounds like he certainly deserves more opportunities as we start to play stronger opposition this pre-season.

Bham Mail said that Rekeem Harper looked good too. Still only 18 I think but he is one, along with Leko and now maybe Edwards, who could become a decent part of the squad this season.

Apparently used 22 players yesterday. And that's without many of the main first team. Perhaps DM is planning on using more of the young guns next season. Seemed to want a good look at them.

Thank you for the write up, always good to hear from someone who attended.

Nice to hear that Barry looked sharp and focused too. I said it in another thread, to much derision it has to be said, that he could/should play a major role in leading us back to the Premier League this season despite his age and all that happened last season.

Was that Harper slipping the ball through for Edwards' goal ?
