Not doing too badly considering it's early in pre season and we have 8 first teamers unavailable (plus Wisdom). Like what I've seen from Poco so far. He looked decent at Shrewsbury too but looks very assured, although this obviously isn't a big test.

We looked a bit stretched in the last 10 mins of first half. Held on a bit. Midfield looked over run to me. The two bookings we got seemed harsh though.

Brunty got sent off for Wednesday just before he joined us and ended up with a competitive 3 game ban. It was ridiculous.

Decent workout i thought it was interesting to see how we set up in the second half alot of bodies deep in our half, Two solid banks off four and Mulumbu ate up everything thought he was by far the best player on the pitch. Oneil looked good down that right which was good to see, Disappointing to see couple of our players stop in there tracks waiting for the whistle, The red card was ridiculous really not needed. and thought the ref had a poor game. Overall i think we still got alot work to be done cardio wise and getting in sync with eachother add in some quality in Gamboa and Ideye along with couple wingers and i think will have a good team, The stream was brilliant great picture and some nice shots off the fair in the background.

Typical pre season really. Kept the ball ok at times and looked bright early on but, understandably, looked very tired during the second half. Difficult to freshen things up when we are missing so many players as well. Clearly a long way to go but will get a better idea when we have most of the players involved and it is less about fitness in a week or so.

The red card was a joke as well for anyone who didn't see it. There must have been about 10 tackles all game and the ref showed about 5 cards. Not sure he really understood how friendlies work. A second yellow with 10 minutes to go for nothing more than a tired trip, as always happens during pre season, is taking things a bit too seriously.

Good workout I thought but that ref was awful.  I hope those players on the pitch get a day off cause that heat must have been unbearable.

1-0, gardener sent off.

it was very much an exercise in defence and possession, not creating that much but then not really trying to.

Some will complain about the lack of offensive power on display against a team of that calbre, but then after scoring, there wasn't a need to keep going at them. even the strikers were trying to pass rather than shoot, still made a couple of good chances, mind.

Better for him to be sent off now than during the actual season?  :D
Good result though!

Full game on youtube. Lasted about ten minutes of pre game talk before muting it. 'West Albion' did it for me.

Only a pre-season and more to get fitness up but still a few positives Poco looked good as did Myhill. 4-4-2 didn't work for me. They had far too much possession and our front two struggled to keep the ball. No point playing two upfront if they are going to fail to take any pressure off a four in midfield. Decent opposition would really have exploited the gaps we left.

I would read very little into any pre season friendly particularly this early and one where the Coach has as many as 8 players unavailable for various reasons. However I suspect we can tell something about the shape of the team and last night was a 4-4-2. It won't work with the current personnel and certainly not with those out on the pitch yesterday. Irvine has a decision to make about the shape of the team and the club will have to back him over the next few weeks to get an effective first XI plus adequate cover.
