I'll raise you Oli Burke or Ken Zohore then. Figure of speech or not it's still a silly and completely unjust comment. BTA is not a Gayle or a Rodriguez but his stats stack up OK alongside Austin and Robson-Kanu in recent years to give you examples.

Would we like better? Of course we would, we'd all like a Mitrovic but there are a lot out there far worse than BTA.

I agree a lot worse out there that we have bought in the past that cost far more than BTA's fee and wages.

Truth and the Daily Mail aren't natural bedfellows at the best of times. That article seems to me to be a prime example of rehashing what has come out previously and dressing it up as inside knowledge. The more this drags on, the more worried I become to be honest. I've tried to be convinced by the "these things take time" and "we won't hear anything until it's signed and finalised" arguments but it's becoming harder by the day.

Yep they article is wrong :

Lai has also taken £10m in loans from the club which he has not paid back.

No he hasn't one loan (approx £5 million now with the interest over the years) was taken out by Mr Peace (who didn't pay it off whne he sold - still outstanding to the club the holding company)  and the other £5million was him !

I know are buying promising but unproven quality in Wharton, just like we sold TGH, there is not a over £21m difference there imo.

I am not knocking TGH but if he was that good surely a Premier League team would have took him on that fee !

Blackburn get £22.5m for 19 year old Wharton, whilst we give ours away for peanuts in tgh and let the others go without a fight.

Makes me want to cry.

That Wharton kid is a really good player, IMO much better than TGH.

Well it just shows..what people know.

Im sure people were saying if a sale doesn’t happen in January players will be sold.

Nevermind selling were adding to the squad. Admittedly nothing to shout about. But still its better than selling the cutlery.

The window is still open ! But I doubt now anyone is going out the door at this stage.

Sell, sell, sell.

£2m would be great imo given our circumstances if we can get a good loan from the prem or abroad (yeah right) if CC doesn't rate Caleb.

That kind of fee and the wages saved until 30/6/24 would be a god send imo.

£2m not a chance !  I would think we would be lucky to get £500,000 with him out of contract in the summer.

I am not expecting to hear anything until a deal is signed.

Would not surprise me if Lai decides to slow-down the talks to see if we can squeeze through the playoffs. Either that or he would be stupid not to negotiate a clause with a further top-up payment in the event of promotion this season.

From reports going round, I don't think Lai can wait until the playoffs as our club will run out of money and then end up looking at Administration as a possibilty, as he ain't putting any money in and would MSD really loan us a third loan ?

Bartley is much better served to wait and review his options in the summer. Which is what I expect to happen. By then we may have swapped places with Luton.

If we swap places with Luton, then I can definatley see us releasing him.  He will only stay here IMO if we are a championship club next season and that he agree's to a massive pay cut on probably a 12 month deal with a second year based on at least 25 appareances in the first year of the contract.

None of which affects the club’s finances - it only affects Holdings which as I’ve said countless times on here, is a red herring because of the name.  It’s Yunyai’s UK holding company.  Either Holdings has to pay more interest, or Holdings dilutes its 88% shareholding in Group.

Isn't it Holdings will have to give over shares in that compnay not the club ?  So holdings would still own 88% of the club but Lai and his assoicates would then not own all of the holding company ?

As I said way before we cannot trust Lai & Ken to do right by us, they are bad business men and will only do right by themselves.

Could be any American that doesn't own a club in England  that's why it's all done under a NDA. We will know soon enough.

Sorry, can someone please clarify?

Should the deal go through, whoever the new owner is, part of the deal (reportedly) is the repayment of the loan/s to the club and the creditors. So won't Albion be better off by a significant amount even in the situation where the owners can't just pump £Xm in via different sneaky accountancy methods? We're owed like £12m by Lia and/or Peace aren't we?

I believe only two of the loans Peace/Lai have taken on behalf of the holdings company are owed to the club which is 10 million. The other two million is betwèn the holdings company and a company I can't remember the name of.

The good news is the 10 million can come back into the club, the bad news is most of it will probably get used on wages/debt.

The new owners would have the option of paying back the 10 million owing the club from the holdings company, but wage bill will still need to come down in the summer, no matter if the money is paid back or not.

If he goes back I would expect Grant to be recalled from Cardiff. Kipre and Mowatt both came back from loans better player's.

Even if (Big IF) we wanted to bring back Grant we cannot, as its classed as an overseas loan and has to be for the full season.

His reference to Derby’s takeover only taking 17 days is a red herring.  They owed £190m to Mel Morris and he’d withdrawn funding.  They were heading for liquidation within days, not administration !

Derby was done with the current owner in 17 days.  The Administrator tried unsuccessfully with two other parties over nine months and it was only when the club was on the brink of liquidation that their owner came forward and hence got it complete in 17 days. (Even the EFL allowed it to go through quickly knowing the club was going to not exist)

With the modern NDA's now in place we won't know who is going to buy us until it is announced.  The one thing that worries me is I don't trust Lai or is associates to get a good deal for our club.

Just announced the group have taken another loan out via MSD. Not sure if this is a positive regarding any takeover or not.

We need Lai out of our club. Another loan make it harder to sell if Lai still wants the same amount of money

Club uploaded footage of Dike, Swift and Maja all training on grass today (non-contact) which is nice to see.

Dike looks a little slimmer than before to me which may help him/us

I think Reach was on the first few seconds of the video as well.

Brad Foster (no relation) has joined Alvechurch on a 28 day loan. Odd, I though they stopped these short loans?

Non-league clubs have a different set of rules.

Its good news that Lai may be hopefully sellling our great club.

The bad news is Ken is in charge of selling us, so we could end up with worse owners !
