A direct quote from Nyom at a charity event he attended was that "I prefer RB as my left foot isn't very good, but will play were I'm asked"

I didn't want him from the very beginning but gave him as much support as was possible, but this got harder and harder as time went  on, so lets hope our Chairman has a good plan for our club because no names on here fill me with any confidence.

The only question any Baggies fan should be asking is has the squad improved or not? Not wether we have panic bought!

players out                                                           players in

Romelu lukaku                                                        Stéphane Sessègnon
Peter Odemwingie                                                   Victor Anichebe Victor
Jerone Thomas                                                        Morgan Amalfitano
Marc-Antoine Fortuné                                               Scott Sinclair
Gabriel Tamas                                                          Matej Vydra
                                                                              Diego Lugano
                                                                              Nicolas Anelka

17 goals from Lukaku will be hard to replace but most of them were in the 2nd half of the season when we weren't winning, 5 goals from Odenwingie good player when he felt like it, Thomas would have gone earlier if it wasn't due to injuries to other players MAF was a striker who couln't score or a winger who worked hard and Tamas is Tamas!

Most will say that replacing RL will be most difficult and i will have to agree but when he came in he was an unknown qty, as are some of the players signed in this window but most have top european exprience and also a high level of international exerience so as I said earleir the only question we should be asking is has the squad been improved? from me it is a yes an it doesn't matter when we boight the players just the fact that we did, I like most other fans would have prefered all our transfers to be done at the start of pre season as I am sure R. Garlic and  staff at the club would have liked but that just wasn't the case.

Looks a good signing to me, quick uses both feet well, all the people moaning about no replacement for RL or PO maybe he is a replacement for MAF, who has never got anywhere near 20 goals in a season in the past 10 seasons, also would anyone of complained if we had signed Tom Ince who is being chased by several clubs? Yet MV was voted champ player of the season last year above Ince.

I never doubted his ability at any time! But I did say that we would never sign him to anyone who asked over the last couple of days, it's all just paper talk lazy jurno's using the SC link, agents plying there wares at market, he doesn't fit our transfer profile, the le sulk/attitude of the past. S**T how wrong was I!!

But the next question is, is it a good signing?

He's 34 on 50 k a week with a goal scoring record to match anything else we have got.

SC has worked with him before, and hopefully would have mentioned something before now if he has a dodgy attitude.

Is he better than MR,MAF,PO IMO

MAF, team player who offered something different to what we had last season but as a striker doesn't score enough goals. ( 1 to NA)

MR, just doesn't seem god enough, maybe not all his own fault, played out of position to many times, but when played in his favoured position he just didn't look good enough, love or loathe the prem there is no other league like it in Europe, and as a club can we afford to give him the time needed to adapt.

Then we have PO, Good player! Bad attitude! scored goals, but if NA had been given or created as many chances as PO who do you think would have scored more goals?

In summary a good signing I think

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Formation for next season?
« on: July 04, 2013, 10:35:04 PM »
Good point, and if you look at what SC done last season this is what I would expect him to do this year, have a certain no. of players that are the core of any formation then pick what he believes  is the best team and formation available to him at the time to win the game (this is what he is paid for after all), SC is a good coach so we are led to believe so why would he just have 1 formation in mind for 38 games that are all different??

Has anyone heard of the book (THE SUNDAY FOOTBALLER) by (TONY STEPHENS) written in the 70's I think he is an Albion fan and one time agent to Beckham, (I have done my Google homework),but with limited references to his book, which apparently is a really good book and I am trying to find a copy??

Any help of any use would be great.

Thanks Sturb

Thank you thank you thank you!! I wasn't looking forward to this I thought we were going to get well beaten, but I had forgotten how good Foster is I thought he was superb tonigght, Long tried his hadest and done well without a lot of support n the 1st half, Y.M and C M were good at getting in the way but gave the ball away to often match sharpness missing thats all. Never a Penalty I don't blame saurez for pealing but the ref gave a bad decision.

SO what do the club do now?

Let him rot in the reserves, probably not even a consideration because of the amount of money he earns I can't see JP letting this happen after all of the chest thumping JP has probably done already he won't want to be giving him a pay cheque for doing nothing, also there is the chance of it being written into contract that he doesn't play for reserves unless it is at PO's request, apparantley this is quite common place in contracts nowadays espcially for players from abroad.

Send him to train with the kids, we could find ourselves in the european court of human rights as we are not letting his carear progress as he thinks it should, this has been threatend by players in the past according to Stan Collymore (I know a lot of people don't like him but he does talk some sense)

Or use the magic word of reinteragtion into the squad, does anyone think that the rest of the squad are really that bothered he will prob be the brunt of a lot of p**s taking for the next few days he arrives in training but at the end of the day they are professionals doing a job and most won't have the same feelings as us fans.

Darren Gibson has already started on his twitter account with this little ditty " Hey, I just drove here. And this is crazy. I'm in your car park. So sign me maybe" And he isn't even a team mate

That leads to my last point if he is reintergrated what are we as fans going to do?

boo/Slag him off every time he comes anywhere near the first team or
give it to him for one game and as long as he shows that he is proffesional enough to apply his trade in the correct manor then let him get on with it?

It's a conundrum!!!

Not a great performance today in the 1st half but 2nd half much better and with so many Key players missing if you take it into context we could have lost at home to a team in the relegation zone, hehehehe.

BOOM

How can you say we didn't have a go? We absolutely battered them second half in all fairness. Personally, I think we deserved a point out of that game.
I totaly agree we were awful in the 1st half maybe to many changes and we sat to deep, but 2nd half I thought we were really good considering we were missing 4 1st team players in the 1st half and 3 when mozza came on in  the 2nd.

A good interview again.
The more I see of the guy the more I like him.
Agreed with everything you say.
There doesn't seem to be any B*** s*** from him which I like.

I know we were better when Rom came on but I think that Long is getting a lot of blame for something he couldn't really help, everyone saying that the ball wasn't sticking at all, they are right but it wasn't down to him alone there was only 1 occassion where he miss controled a high ball and lost possesion most of the time was spent running around trying to make things happen as he wasn't getting any service what so ever, we came into the game more when he went off but this also coincided with AVB bringing on a 2nd stricker and going with 4 in midfield which was a mistake, as this gave us more control of the centfre of the field. And this proved to be the case, also we are comparing 2 strikes who are miles apart and 1 of them isn't our player so SC couldnt just bring Rom in straight away he has to earn his place, which he may well have done now.

football is a game of 2 halves someone once said!! how true is that of today's game, 1st half we weren't at the races but I thought we played better 2nd half as has already been said Rom made a huge difference but even before he came on we were pushing Spurs back more than we were in the 1st half , Rom has justified a starting place next week so we will have to see if SC agrees and if he does can he sustain this type of form from the start of the game as apposed to coming on as sub, Ithough our passing in the 2nd half was superb at times, some lovey through ball by Morrison,Dorrans and Yacob. All in all a good point away from home even if we did ride our luck in the 1st half a little, but we were up against probably the fastest full back/winger combination down both flanks in the division.

Well Done boys!!!

And great to see them all together to celebrate the goal.

We need a bit more composre when we get the ball to many passes are going astray and that gives no chancefor long. he is only going off scraps, our midfield havenbeen in the game 1st half but it is still 0-0 so lets hope we wake up a bit for the 2nd half.

Cheers for that. It was a good article also.

I'm puzzled that we advertised that we were trying for it and pointed out all the effort we went into to get it and once we actually got it we didn't say anything?

From readign up on it it's now obviously that this really is the way to go and if we hadn't got it, it would have been a very large blow!

Be very interested to see how this helps us develop kids over the next three seasons.

I agree like you say, it's a big investment to be and very important for the club to hold the cat 1 and it does seem a suprise that nothing was mentioned about the fact that we gained it.

Not sure if this link has been posted yet but it explains in more detail what this EPPP is all about, and we are definitely in it.
