Makes sense really, the Smethwick stands all game & stand away from home. It’s much safer with a barrier etc

What about social distancing? Corona is still with us.

That is down to personal preference now. Social distancing has been scrapped for over 2 months.

You are allocated a place, so are much easier to trace.  For standing, there is no way of tracing who was where.

Thats not social distancing, thats track and trace, maybe this is where being double jabbed comes into play? Who knows....

You still get allocated a rail 'seat'. It's not a return to surge terracing.

Yes, but it would be easier to move about than an allocated seat.
This is still a major concern for lots of us.  I haven't been back in the stadium despite being double jabbed. Certainly, won't be more likely to return with this proposal.

I think I must be missing something here. Movement along safe standing terracing is exactly the same as movement along seated terracing.

People walk along them in exactly the same way. One foot before the other. You're still allocated a specific spot.

The only difference being seats will be locked in the up position and there'll be rail bars between rows to prevent forward crushing. That's it.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Depends how much people stick to one place only with allocated standing. It just seems somewaht easier to move about from a standing than a sitting position.

Yep, its a personal choice to enter the stadium in the first place, and I guess most are probably not that bothered about social distancing anyway.

You can drink in pubs go to nightclubs and pop concerts go on a protest march and sit next to people at football matches how is standing any worse than those mentioned?

To be honest mate, it will probably be in smethwick where everyone stands anyway. I ‘sit’ behind the goal in the smethwick and there are always more people than there should be on each row.

If you don’t sit there then I’m sure you will be ok, it won’t be all the ground

I think it would have to be the Smethwick given it probably has the highest proportion of fans who stand.

Moving it elsewhere does not solve the issue of standing in the SME

You can just bet that if they introduce safe standing at the Hawthorns it won't be the bit where we've been standing safely for donkeys years.

They'll introduce it in the Halfords.  ;D

Highly likely given the lack of seated legroom.

Two birds with one stone  ;) .
