Our poorest owner/Chairman
« on: June 22, 2011, 10:13:43 AM »
Got to be Trev the shed.I remember him promising Ozzie millions to spend on the pith at Wembley ;D.
Can people remember the abuse Mr Silk use to get when he was in charge.

I know some of us knock Mr Peace but he is probably the best since the days of The Millerchips.

Whats everyone's memories of previous Albion leaders.Good or bad

Paul Thompson laid the foundations for the success we have had over the last 10 years or so. He often gets overlooked.

If you are talking poorest in terms of how good or bad they are then it would have to be someone like Hale.

If you are talking poorest in terms of funds and not putting in their own money then that would have to be JP.  ;)

We have only had one 'owner' that is the present Chairman, Mr Peace.

Tony Hale, Trevor Summers, Bert Millichip etc., have all been Chairmen and minority shareholders.

Whilst most of our previous Chairman, have not been particularly inspiring, I still much prefer the old method, and continue to oppose the current Chairman / Majority shareholder situation, that we currently have at the Hawthorns.

The truth is we have always had prudent chairmen and even when we had a lot of shareholders the boardroom itself was a closed shop.

Jim Gaunt was a tight wad and though people speak highly of Bert Millichip he sold Cunningham for a million and Robson too.

Mr Peace,as some of you call him, ;),is merely continuing the trend, but he does tend to get the most from our sales.

Peace like Millichip and the others is an Albion fan,and i would sooner have a chairman like that than someone who's loyalties lie elsewhere like Gold Sullivan and Brady,or Morgan at wolves.

Mr Peace deos annoy me beyond belief at times though.

Millichip.
Held us back when we should have been investing in Francis and Souness.
We were right there with Ipswich, Arsenal, Vile, Forest and for a while almost Liverpool.
They all won stuff.
We were always just short.

Peace in my view is the best chairman we have ever had, yes he has made mistakes but they are just highlighted because he is the current chairman, Very very good IMO

Its been frustrating at times(transfer windows when we cry out for players while others buy/loan them in) but you have to say the plans are bearing fruit now as we have come a long way in a fairly short time.Good comparison,Sheff Utd.The Blades were neck and neck with us,good support, good history and a decent side in that division just like us but look at them now.A few bad signings on big money(Beattie) and managers they end up in the old third division,Peace just wouldnt let that happen to us,i think he learns from mistakes for instance he wouldnt appoint someone like Robson again.

I have been as frustrated as the next Baggie with his long winded signings. But he never lets us slip into debt.

I agree,we will probably look back one day and realise just how good he was.

he still annoys me though. :P

;D Had a beer with Paul in Sydney,at an "ozzbaggy" function. Lovely bloke and I told him who to buy and who to sell? after one or two too many beers.
I don't think he listened to me though.

I'll second even though at times he has driven me mad but i think in the bigger picture of things his work has been great for the club

Tony Hale was like a character from Viz. Peace is without a doubt the best. He has basically taken us to 11th while all number of other clubs have imploded over the last 8 years. Listening to the Peace haters in that time has been remarkable. Deluded fools who think we should be buying big and aiming for world domination yesterday!

Little survey thing in The Sun today where Premiership club fans were asked to rate their clubs owners in terms of how satisfied they were with them. We're apparently the 9th most satisfied with our owners/chairman with a 6.3 satisfaction rating.

Firstly the best ...Mr J.R.P , many may knock but football has changed and he had the foresight to put a plan in place that would lead to long term stability and continued progression , we are in the prem , 2nd season , have money to spend and in a much better position than most , did I forget to mention a damn good team with a former manager of the year ??

The funniest , well thats easy too , Trevor Summers at wembley 1993
It was something like this..

Reporter ...so Mr Summers there will be some top clubs looking at some of these  players now.
Trev..........Well i would have to say they are not for sale .
Reporter .... What if they were to bid around 1 million .
Trev .....HOW MUCH ...(composed himselfand then in higher pitch) I would still say thats not enough ...

Bloody priceless :D :D :D :D

Quite surprised that, there seems to be a very strong group of people which hate his guts. They even failed to give him the recognition he deserved last season. Did you see on facebook that protest which had been planned for the Everton at home game when Di Matteo was sacked? Well, because Roy Hodgson worked wonders they decided to cancel it the morons.

I'd say 9th is quite low, I would've honestly thought he would've scored higher in the grander scale of things and what he has achieved for us.
