next batch of televised games
« on: October 08, 2015, 11:58:27 AM »
Albion have been ignored by Sky/BT for next batch of televised games from 5 December to 3 January. So Pulis-ball does have some advantages, no disruption over the festive period!

Cracking news.

We are well into October and have only had one 3pm Saturday kick off at home so we deserve a break from the telly.

What is the financial impact of ot getting TV games, ie what do sky / BT pay per match?

It's about 750k, and every team is guaranteed a minimum amount of games on tv per season.

So every televised match lost because of Pulis ball equates to a paying crowd of 30k lost (1.25 matches worth) at £30 / head average

With only 19 home league games per season thats a hugely significant financial negative factor against Pulisball IMO.  :o

Can you blame the TV companies for not showing the dross that Pulis plays. It was embarrassing against Palace, I hope we have no further exposure until Pulis has gone....

Palace are a good team.

Someone posted on here that zaha had a game that he has 2 or 3 times a season.

I was disappointed by the performance at palace but very happy at the performance against vile the difference being the quality of oppo.

Take bolasie and zaha out of the palace team and they are much of a muchness.

Last season we were great against West Ham in the cup and swansea and southampton.

I just think we need to give him more time.

Let him rid himself of the likes of vic and bring his own in.

I couldn't agree more, we would be much better without the largesse from Sky or BT.

I can see no advantages at all, except to a greedy players and owners looking to cash in.

That's a very fair point, but think our reputation as a boring, long ball, Pulis side is starting to take hold now, so no real surprise.

Not at all sure the lack of televised games has much to do with the way we play. Every prem team is guaranteed a minimum number, so that is what we have always had and what we will always get  - minimal coverage.  It is merely a fact of life in the premiershit (Whooops! freudian slip typing error but apt descrtption I believe) where only a few teams are actually considered to be of interest to the corporate soccer public.

We all wanted Lambert and thought he would be good signing, vile offered 5m for him in jan so his stock was high when we got him.

I never thought he'd turn out to be a modern day phelan and townsend.

Let's hope he can turn it around but missimg that sitter against everton isn't promising.

Unfortunately we are guaranteed a facility payment equal to 10 televised matches whether the broadcasters choose to show our games or not. We have seldom if ever been shown more than 10 times so it makes little or no difference in the short term whether we are on TV or not so that is not going to prompt Peace to ditch him in the short term.

Personally I'm glad that we aren't so the wider public is spared Pulisball and I don't feel compelled to watch the away games that are televised.

Think Peace has got his eye on the increased TV money from 2016/17 onwards and would be more than happy to forgo money from fixtures this season if it guaranteed a slice of the bigger bucks on offer next year. Even more so as he will be looking to sell next summer.

When taking account all the money we get from staying in the premier league, is Peace really going to be bothered about losing out on a couple of mil?

I reckon he sees Pulis as a safe a bet as possible to keep us up, so I don't think he will worry about missing out on a few games on TV.

3rd Jan thats only half the season & we would have been on 5 times Man C, Chelsea, Everton home & C Pal West Ham away, bearing in mind we might be near the bottom come April I'm sure we'll get our full quota in!!
