Generally poor. Really don't understand the lack of interest on important and obvious matters regarding the leadership and finances of the club, which is an incredibly important topic. The only time I have seen any meaningful critique of the club leadership was when Bilic was sacked. As a fan I was extremely unimpressed by his protection of Dowling when he was sacked (Always got impression he was one of few contacts Masi had).
The complete lack of acknowledgement of the Times piece was embarrassing, other correspondence were able to comment such as Madeley. The only reason I take time to share the above is because of the privilege it is in this day and age to be paid to cover a local team, one would expect much better journalism, even when appreciating the limited resources available compared to national counterparts. The standard should be better in my opinion. Modern day football reporting demands so much more than focusing on what goes on the pitch, sadly.
I too will spare a positive mention though as I appreciate the above might be a little harsh. No one is quicker at providing live in game updates on twitter. Always first to tweet the goals. He's also a fan so fair play at whatever hard work I haven't been partial to that meant he got the gig.
Got to say, I thought your comments were really interesting.
I have no inside knowledge of the media, but as a consumer, there have been some quite dramatic changes in local media over the last 10 years.
What were independents no longer are, & most are controlled by one or two national & international groups. (Trinity Mirror seems to control most of the local media). Even the typeface & web page layouts are identical
It's not surprising therefore, that local journos are not very effective if they're having to work within severe constraints.
Don't get a lot from either of the podcasts, E & S is no more than ok, & the liquidator one is so agenda driven, it's not worth listening to.
I tend to think that both podcasts get their material from this forum
