I seem to remember there were a number of very vocal and influential players that have also left over the last few years. Its all about recruiting players with the right mindset and attitude

Peltier is a RB isn't he? Or can he play LB too.

I thought he could play both but I could well be wrong

Always like to have a little browse of an opponents forum to see what their take on the game will be and wish I hadn't bothered. 60% homophobia/racism, 30% football factory, 10% football talk. Would love a solid win against these to get this bounce back well and truly on. Robinson and Krov sound like they have done enough to earn a start so I would go with something like this

            Johnstone
Furlong  Bartley Ajayi Peltier
        Sawyers Livermore
Krovinovic Perreira Robinson
              HRK

According to the Brentford forum they will get a draw at the very least and most think they will roll us over..after reading through the comments I had to go on the BBC website and check I hadn't been dreaming we were top and not fighting relegation lol..😂😂😂

I saw also that they are very confident in this game, most of them stating that our positions should be reversed based on the statistics. I think they way they will want to play will suit our still well and we could see something similar to the Swansea result. Looking forward to see Pereira carve them open like a christmas turkey!

I think he wants to come far too deep as he just hasnt got the legs to keep moving from  the midfield area to the forward line. Ideally he needs to be the player the furthest up the pitch and in front of the ball as much as possible. I think everyone knows that his biggest attribute is his finishing but if he keeps dropping to the centre circle he is not going to get those opportunities. I do get the feeling though that he struggles a little with the system and being the lone man up top, would be a lot more effective if he had a second striker to play off but then who do you drop from midfield to do this

Very poor performance but I don't think the changes could be to blame. The players that came in should have been more than good enough to win that game, pretty much all of them would go straight into Wigans first 11. Wigan simply wanted it more, every time they got the ball they looked to move forward and take the game to us. We were far more concerned about playing it around in our own half and not trying the get in behind them or down the channels

In saying this though, we are still unbeaten and hopefully got a bad performance out of our system with a important lesson taught to the players that didn't turn up. We have to play every game like its a cup final in this division if we want to leave no doubt for promotion

Quite happy to keep picking up points and wins but also happy that Leeds are also. As much as we don't want them to keep winning, if we both are that gap is going to get bigger and bigger. If you offer me 2nd now I would definitely take it, how big does the gap need to be before it is almost a certainty? 15 points? 17 points? 20 points!?

The way this write up has gone it looks like we could break Brentford's 7 goal season record! But 1-0 away will do me. :)

It is the kind of game you look at and think it could be a cricket score but anything that leaves us with another W will be do just fine. Although I would be disappointed if we conceded 2 or more goals.

Anyone know the latest on Harper? Seems very strange that he is yet to make an appearance this year, especially considering he was going to leave and was convinced by Slaven to renew. Would of thought that at least a couple of appearances would have been guaranteed to make him sign, maybe he is expecting to start featuring more in the christmas period and in the new year?

Well after being outboxed for most of the fight Wilder got the job done with a one punch Ko. Did'nt see the Smith v Ryder fight but a lot of people saying Ryder should have won the fight.

And on the Wilder undercard his brother Marsellos was stopped in the fourth round of his fight against Dustin Long.

I had Wilder losing every round until the big finish. Hes a bit of an enigma as in certainly not the best boxer in the world and has horrendous technique but he holds devastating power in that right hand. He spends the whole fight waiting and trying to set it up, so throws very few punches and therefore loses more rounds than he wins. But if you have that power then you will send anyone to the canvass including Fury, AJ and anyone else if he lands it. Fury will beat him as long as he doesnt allow Wilder to land that one punch but thats verry difficult to do over 12 rounds. I also think AJ could beat him but its more down to weather he can engineer a moment to put Wilder down before he can land his right and I dont think AJ is good enough defensively to do that

Good weekend for boxing if anyone is interested, Golden Contract starts tonight on Sky, tomorrow we have Callum Smith vs John Ryder and Wilder vs Ortiz II.

Expecting a relatively comfortable win for Smith round 5-7 I think and similar for Wilder but would love Ortiz to beat him just because I'm not a huge fan of Wilder

Exciting card for tomorrow night, the most popular fight in the UK is probably Chisora v Price but for me Taylor vs Prograis looks a belter. A unification fight between 2 of the worlds best in the super-light weight division, I'll edge it Prograis but wouldn't surprise me at all if Josh Taylor wins even by KO. He is far the biggest challenge that Prograis will have faced so far and I think Taylor has that crazy-jock belief in himself that will give Prograis plenty to think about. We also have Connor Benn who is always a great watch against Steve Jamoye, expecting a comfortable win for Benn. Lawrence Okolie also looking to get back on the up after a strange fight against Gudino and is fighting undefeated Ngabu, really needs to turn it on otherwise it might prove a difficult night for him. Also, I never usually took much notice of female fighters until Katie Taylor came to fame to be honest but Shannon Courtenay is a really good fighter and I expect she will win comfortably. Finally, there is a good domestic battle in Selby vs Burns where both have had tough fights in recent years so it will be interesting to see how it goes down

What a fight between Taylor and Prograis, I had it a draw but in the end Taylor won by majority decision. I think the home crowd may have helped the judges a little bit. Even so, a fight of the year contender between 2 world class fighters. Comfortable win for Chisora, glad they threw the towel in for Pricey as much as I love a good knockout I would of felt sick if he had another big punch and was put out cold. Connor Benn had a great stoppage, he really needs to think about moving up in terms of the quality of opponents. Okolie won by another stoppage but I just cant get interested in him, his style is too awkward for me. Missed Shannon Courtenays fight but by the sounds of it she won by a close decision which is common in 4 round fights. Also a good win by Selby who just looked a little fresher than Burns as he is that little bit younger, but I do like Burns and he should think about retiring soon I think

Since when did Chisora and David price become Ppv box office attractions ? Can’t believe sky are charging £20 for it . I know Parker got injured but even Parker chisora isn’t a box office event

PPV is because Taylor vs Prograis is a unification fight between 2 world champions at Super-Light Weight. With the rest of the card its not a surprise its PPV, I've seen smaller fights attract a PPV audience

Price has no chance against Chisora.  Hope he gets a good payday and retires though. Be over in 3 rounds I reckon.

Agreed, I think Chisora is all wrong for price really. Not too dissimilar to Povetkin, a big bruiser that can bang. Price is a good fighter, his chin just lets him down so if Chisora turns it on like he did against Szpilka then inside 3 rounds is a good bet

I really hope that he learns from the mistakes he made with us and go on to become a top manager. Hardly a nicer guy in football and was a hero of mine growing up. If he could get the bit at the back right, he plays very nice attacking football and could do very well, just needs that experience where he can learn from his errors

Expecting a similar game to vs Boro, dogged and tough but think we will knick a 1-0 win. On paper we have much better quality but they aren't going to roll over, a little big of magic from Pereira or Diang might be the difference although I would love Charlie to get another goal.

Chisora v David Price has been announced for the undercard of the Josh Taylor fight after previous opponent Sprong has failed a drugs test with VADA. I really feel that Price should hang his gloves up, could be another worrying knockout. Chisora hits as hard if not harder than Povetkin so it could get ugly for him

Agree, any player who can handle the physicality of the Premier League at age 16 is going to be fine as a grown man in the championship - the english youth system is famous (or infamous according to some) for going for brawn over brains and Rooney is typical of that.

One thing I would say though is that I think he's fell out of love with the game. He moved to Everton to play for his boyhood club and did quite well, then 1 year on he chose USA. Then he started moaning over there and seems sick of it. I think he will be ok for them without being a world-beater, but you'd think he'd have huge wages which will be a waste - even if it is funded by a loophole.

Little harsh that I think, Rooney has a fantastic football brain and is physically strong. One of the reasons he was in the top bracket of players in his prime. Although I do agree, I don't expect him to set the championship alight, I remember when they signed Ashley Cole last year. Obvious publicity stunt as signing players that were world class 10-15 years ago doesn't mean they will have the edge to cut it in a very competitive division.

On to Derby though, ridiculous by playing staff and I thought taxi-gate was bad. Drink driving and injuring a key player, cant imagine what kind of punishment Derby will have lined up. As much as they are decent players involved I think you need to sell them in January to send a message to the rest of the squad that it shouldn't be tolerated

Fantastic article, really please with Semi so far. Early days but looks solid and I think he will only improve further with a stronger centre half partner. Seems the sort of guy who is always learning and will get better with age. Future Premier League centre half for sure

Signed a new 3 year deal!

Big commitment by the club considering he has the potential of not being fully fit for chunks of the season, on his day though one of the best in the championship so worth while gamble for me

Great fight set for tomorrow night, Lomachenko vs Campbell with a great undercard. Can't see past a Loma win though, future Hall of Famer for sure. Undercard is also interesting, Hughie Fury vs Povetkin is a good match up allow us to see what Hughie is made of against an experienced and tough fighter. I do think he gets more media attention than he warrants though due to his last name but he is a little younger than his cousin so can still work his way up the rankings
