I honestly have never wanted a manager to succeed more in my life but sadly I think this will end in tears. I have no doubt that Darren has the passion but everything I have seen/heard from him sound and look like a guy thankful to be in this position and I think that gratefulness is paralysing him with fear. Fear to try something new (Pulis type tactics), fear to make early/more substitutions, fear to speak in anything other than tired cliches. I think he was so desperate to get off the mark last night that he forgot that on balance we should be able to beat Forrest.
I think i'll be in the minority here but even that email we all received that was largely praised by most gave me pause for concern. In my opinion it sounded like something a fan would write if given the chance to manage the club. It came across to me very much like "c'mon guys, I need all your help. I need everyone to be with me, we are in this together, thank you for having me" - I would much have preferred someone who was quietly confident in his own ability. I know people might disagree and don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with an email from the manager ahead of the new season but the content just sounded a bit desperate - almost like trying too hard to please if that makes sense?
My overriding feeling at the moment is that I love the bloke and love his passion but at the same time feel sorry for him and the fact that I feel sorry for him suggests to me that something isn't right. I just feel like a nice guy has been thrown into the deep end and, at present, is looking every bit the novice and at times even coming across a little foolish/simple?
I wouldn't want him sacked or anything like that but at the same time i would only give him the first 10 games and if we are not towards the top end of the table or without clear improvement I would make the change. No one person is worth sacrificing the long term future of the club. I hope i'm wrong.

I really want darren to do well but honestly I keep coming back to the same thought.
If pulis or pardew set up to stifle and performed like that they would have been crucified. Until jay rod took a knock it was going to be 1 sub again. Its negative and boring. I have to say also that in his interview post game he really didn't come across well at all. Sounded like a cliche without any real tactical insight. If we are relying on our assistant to come up with the tactical plan then for me I can't see why he is the manager. I feel so sorry for him as at present I think he is looking and sounding a bit foolish. I really hope he can prove me wrong but at present I think he is a negative, tactically naive appointment.

Really sorry to say but early indications are that darren doesn't have a clue. I honestly think he looks out of his depth. There was simply no style of play. We didn't play possession football, we didn't look to break at pace, we didn't didn't play a pressing game. I really struggle to see what we tried to do. I am concerned.

Google translated it for me as "(persons name) I'm moving baby!" - could just be moving house but I doubt it to be honest.

Just been posted on Twitter (a screenshot of Rondon's Instagram) where he is replying to a friends request for a game of Fifa? Rondon responds by saying "claim down, i'm moving baby!" - I think it's evident he is off and something has been agreed?

The logo looks so cheap. Interestingly on the website they have chosen to show is as this:

Ah, doesn't quite work without the blue background behind it. Looks much better on the club website as all white with blue behind it if you know what i mean?

He's scored 22 goals in 100 games for us.

That's nearly 1 in 4. Hardly prolific but considering most of that was under Pulis hardly surprising. He will have no shortages of premier league suitors next season.
Not bad for someone who some insist is the worse striker we've ever had. Come the summer we will see where he ends up - plenty of teams would gladly take Rondon.

My results suggest you'd survive on 34 points.  :o Can't see it being that low.

Some teams have seriously tough run-ins though.

Yeah, I've just done it again and had us stopping up on 34 points. Interestingly, i couldn't remember what selections I did first time around but the bottom three were the same - Stoke, Southampton and Brighton. They must have tough run in's as i have them all down twice in a row.

Unfortunately, I still feel as though reality will have us down. Maybe wishful thinking on our results but saying that i have only given us 34/35 points so don't think I've been overly generous - more surviving on others difficult remaining games.

I did the Birmingham mail thing and had us finishing 15 on 35 points albeit only 2 clear of the relegation zone. Can't see 35 points being enough in reality......

Still rubbish, 4 goals this season for our main striker, shocking.
Honestly there's no talking to some people. You do realise that we haven't scored many goals as a team don't you? I'm sick of seeing posts bashing Rondon so I'll give you a statistic that you can't possibly argue with:
At 3 goals Rondon has scored 21% of our total goals.
As a comparison Mo Salah on 15 goals has scored 36% of his team's goals. That's the leagues top scorer.
Aguero is next on 12 goals from 60 which is 20% of his team's goals.
Aside from Harry Kane who scores a much larger % of spurs goals, anything from 20-25% is standard for your main striker.
The problem isn't rondon it's the fact that we don't score or create enough full stop.

They played their part albeit bit part, however it doesn’t detract from the fact Pulis signed them.
But Pardew is still picking them.....

He isn't rubbish. His overall play lately has been excellent. If you look at his performance today purely from a finishing perspective which ignores everything else he had one bad miss, one strike that produced a great save, a goal and a long speculative effort which was easily saved. That's a pretty good performance. Compare to chupo moteng  or whatever his name Is, I remember him scoring a good goal which an earlier poster pointed out but also missed a free header inside the 6 yard box. By your measure did he have a pooh game also? Strikers miss chances which is why teams also pay fortunes for creative players. Rondon isnt the problem, the problem is much worse in the fact that we barely create any chances. But what do I know, stick HRK up front he'll do better.

Really wanted him to do well but he has had zero effect. I thought his team selection today was a joke. McLean and IRK should be nowhere near a premier league squad let alone starting. Also how Livermore is still starting is beyond me. It's a disgrace that Sam field didn't even make the squad. I thought Pardew would instantly get rid of the Pulis plotters but if anything he is playing more of them. All optimism has dried up for me.

« on: December 23, 2017, 05:09:19 PM »
Yeah that's it for me I think. To be so spineless in the first half against a terrible stoke team sums it up. I honestly thought the players we had were better than they were showing and once Pulis went we would start to climb the table. Unfortunately the results have been no better and maybe that just points to one thing. We simply aren't good enough.

In all seriousness, I was literally at the point where I would have accepted anyone other than Pulis and despite what people may say there are FAR worse options out there. Overall, I see a manager who promotes attacking football, gives the cups a go and is extremely confident in his ability which can only rub off on the players. I think most people are against him as he comes across as a bit of a Tw@t - for me though I couldn't give a toss whether he dances, headbutt's someone or anything else. All i care about is bringing a bit of excitement and passion back and I think he will do this. All together now....

We've got "clap clap" Pardiola, We've got Pardiola, We've got Pardiola.  ;D

Thought he was fantastic today against what is one of the best defences in the league. If he can play like that ever week he could absolutely dominate.

I am sure that Mr Lai and the board will get the message loud and clear at the end of the game, no advanced planning will be necessary. What will we all do if they win I wonder???
Die from shock?

Oh, another thing i received the other day from a friend. Not sure how accurate it is but i'll post it word for word. The chap doesn't usually spout nonsense so i'm inclined to see some truth in it:

"had this from a friend who is now a coach at the Albion;

Pulis has lost the dressing room apparently. He has the starting 11 on the pitch going through tactics and the rest of the squad just standing on the side doing nothing. Brunt, McClean and others went off and had their own 5 a side game and Pulis wasn't happy. Krychowiak doesn't get involved with anyone and the players don't rate him being on over £100k per week for what he contributes. He said there are massive divides in the squad at the moment. Things need to change quick or we are in real trouble."

I saw a comment earlier about the fans responsibility to make a toxic atmosphere and they were shot down. I tend to agree. It's all well and good us coming on here spouting off about how he has to go etc but then turn up to the game like nothing needs to be said.
I get that it won't help the team but a toxic atmosphere against Chelsea whereby we are likely to lose anyway is the right way to go for me with the long term interests of the club in mind.
I think a Spanish style white flag/white handkerchief/towel would paint a very clear picture and would be extremely effective. In essence the white flag is the sign of surrender which is exactly what we do every game.
I would love nothing more than to see 20,000+ people all waving white flags. Sadly i know this would never happen.
Sorry if you don't agree but i hate being hypocritical and it annoys me that this board and everyone i speak to is so anti-pulis but that doesn't seem to show up on match day. I fear that apathy has taken over and we can't even be bothered to moan....
