Glad it weren't just me  :D

Having seen United's winner again, Samir Nasri deserves a slap. That is quite frankly pathetic defending.

Amazing. What a game. Classic Man United at the end.

I initially did laugh as I thought Rio Ferdinand poked himself in the eye when trying to take his shirt off.

Surprised to see this so quiet.

City 0 United 2 - Rooney getting them both.

I've wrote a two page email to the referees association this morning. Wonder if they'll have the decency to reply.

Could you show us what you wrote?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Steve Clarke Sacked by Albion
« on: December 09, 2012, 01:33:29 PM »
One thing I would like Clarke to work on is our ball retention. Of late, it has been poor, in-fact, for the majority of the season it has been poor and perhaps our biggest downfall of the season so far. It appears to be that when sides are quick to press our midfield we don't have the composure to keep it and tend to hoof it in any aimless direction and therefore give the ball to the opposition. Another thing I have noticed of late is the sloppiness of our passing, it just seems to one paced and sloppy with such little conviction with the Mulumbu, Olsson, McAuley, Reid, Brunt and Morrison being the guilty culprits of late. It is something we need to work on as we haven't been good enough with the ball but apart from that, I have little complaints. Something isn't working at the moment and it's up to Steve Clarke to address that and quickly.

Dreadful display. One of the worst I've  seen.

Your getting sacked in the morning!  :D

I know you like to defend referees but I admire your honesty on this occasion - Terrible performance from Jones.

Albion Matchday Forum / Re: Retrospective Punishment ?
« on: December 09, 2012, 01:22:54 PM »
Until an independant panel are brought in to assess dives then players will continue to dive and continue to get away with it. The punishments shall need to be thought out thoroughly but the topic does provide such problems as what constitutes a dive. As we saw yesterday, Cazorla dived and therefore would deserve a punishment but there are other incidents which aren't as clear. There is also the issue of whether we would asses dives all over the pitch or just those which result in penalties or goals being scored.

It's a grey area but there's no doubt that Cazorla dived yesterday and shall get away with it.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: next 3 games....
« on: December 09, 2012, 01:15:43 PM »
They're two tricky games as West Ham and Norwich come into the game with some decent form behind them. Norwich have gone ten games unbeaten and in there are some very good results with victories over United and Arsenal and a very good victory at Swansea, a place where we failed to get out of first gear. West Ham will be tough to break down and shall pose a threat going forward so it's not exactly the games I would have liked but given the nature of this league and it's unpredictability it wouldn't surprise me to see us win them both!

My worry is that if both of them come with the intention of soaking up pressure and counter attacking us. I do wonder whether we have enough to break teams down, as we've seen with Stoke last week, we looked very flat and there appeared to be a lack of urgency. Hopefully we don't get a repeat of such performances. It is important that we get a good performance from the side as we've seen three 'poor' performances on the spin with a lack of chances and goals and fans will start to ask questions if we go through the next two games in the same fashion, regardless of our league position. The side at the moment looks a completely different side to the one which won four leagues on the spin some weeks ago and that's why it'll be important to erase those fears.

Albion Matchday Forum / Re: Brunt
« on: December 08, 2012, 05:40:36 PM »
If you would like to start a thread on every player I will offer my opinion on them all if it makes you feel better.

As captain surely part of his job is to lift the team as a whole, not constantly moan and appear to blame everyone else.

Second goal was perhaps a foul on Popov, but it does not excuse a stupid foul in the box.

There are threads available on all of our players in the main forum so maybe we should comment in them questioning why certain players have put in another poor performance.

Don't get me wrong, Brunt has had a poor game today, I just feel slightly uncomfortable seeing a player constantly questioned whilst others go unmentioned.

Blame it on his early season injury if you like, but you seem to suggest that fans who discuss Brunt should not do so.

Not that at all. I just think it's unfair on Chris Brunt that his performances will be criticised to the high heavens whilst we'll ignore the performances of our other players who were no better if not worse.

I had a feeling the Brunt topics would be floating around after today's defeat.

Brunt had a poor performance, but he was no worse than Gera, Long, Mulumbu, Morrison, Odemwingie and Reid.

In-fact, the whole side was poor today with an exception possibly being the two centre halves.

yep , still 5th and theres panic circulating ..

It's very easy to quote the league table but we've seen 3 poor performances on the trot now with very little created and in neither of them have we looked like winning the football match. The team of earlier on in the season looks a long way away at the moment.

I won't comment on the referee's performance just yet as I don't think there are any words which can describe how inept he was.

Any chance we had was ruined by the referee with the award of the first penalty which changed the whole complexion of the game. It completely ruins the game plan. Arsenal I thought were good, mainly because they had the time on the ball to do whatever they want. Jack Wilshere probably won't have an easier game all season because we allowed him and Arteta all the time they wanted on the ball. In contrast to ourselves who were harried in possession and therefore gave it away on endless occasions.

There are a long list of players today which didn't perform anywhere near the standards they've set themselves previously. You can take a bad performance against Swansea but to follow it up with similar gutless performances against Stoke and Arsenal isn't good enough. There are exceptions for those which never featured against Stoke, of course. I know Arsenal are a good side with resources miles ahead of ours, but to not create any sustained pressure, look amateurish on the ball, and twindle around the pitch not giving a monkeys is not what I expect and I'm sure Steve Clarke shall feel the same.

What has let us down today is our inability to retain possession in tight circumstances. Even when our players have had time on the ball, there has either been a lack of options, or we've cheaply given it away. I know Arsenal have been very good, especially in the way they've pressurised our midfield, but for me we haven't put up a battle. We've been quite gutless and I thought those days had disappeared.

Pathetic from the referee - Foul on Popov.

Pathetic from Brunt to make such a ridiculous challenge.

Listening on radio.... penalty appeal for Mertesacker handball.....any views?

It was certainly handball but apparently Olsson fouled Mertesacker although to me it looked very soft.

Quite an awful first half compounded by an awful refereeing decision. We've looked totally clueless going forward, partly because we have been useless in possession. Useless isn't an understatement, it has been incredibly poor with passes going astray or usually to a man in a red shirt. Credit to Arsenal who have pressed the midfield and have made it difficult for us. Peter Odemwingie, Zoltan Gera and Shane Long have been largely anonymous and if we are to get anything from this game we'll need to get them involved a lot more.

We might have had a lucky decision at Sunderland but that isn't good enough for me. Quite simply Cazorla dived and the referee fell for it.

Piers Morgan ?@piersmorgan

I'm not awarding a BOOM! for that - Cazorla did a shocking, blatant, dive. Ashamed to see an Arsenal player cheat so badly.

Even Morgan admits it's a dive. Disappointing thing is that it changes the whole complexion of this game now.

The Arsenal supporters will get Boaz Myhill booked here with their constant moaning when it's our free kick or goal kick. They perceive him to be time wasting..

We could do with sustained possession. Losing the ball too quickly for my liking.

I just hope it isn't a repeat of our Swansea performance where for 45 minutes we totally never got to grips with the game. Disappointing to see Yacob miss out with injury, hopefully we don't miss his presence. Depending on how serious his injury is, I hope Mulumbu doesn't pick up a yellow card as the last thing we need is both of them missing. Both Mulumbu and Yacob are one away from suspension.
