just read that Tyrone Mings was educated at Millfields the mega toff sporty school in somerset,  just shows how my preconceptions / prejudices assumed he was another kid from the estates.

Turns out he was a somerset lad who won a scholarship to Millfields

He is learning from Van Dyke and looking a REAL prospect

Being as most games seem to be at walking pace, I don't think crawling pace is going to be entertaining. And I dread to think what the hissy fits would be like.

We would romper that, the opposition are a load of dummies

@IpswichTown
📰 The Club is delighted to announce a significant investment from US-based private equity firm, Bright Path Sports Partners.

The investment of up to £105million secures a c40% stake and is an exciting step which will further secure the Club’s future.

Full details. ??
40% =105m, which values Ipswich at £260m 🤔, that valuation makes us a bargain for Mr Patel

Yes, Leeds, Southampton, Ipswich and even Leicester fans will have all done the same by now as they are 'guaranteed' the play offs. Many Albion fans too, which doesnt then leave a lot of rooms at a cheaper rate

well there are going to be a lot of cancellations around then, might wait until last minute.

What up with Nike with the New England Kit why would you even consider changing the flag of Saint George , wouldn’t do it with any other nation,
Also how the hell can they justify the prices they’re charging for them , supposedly a cost of living crisis
Simple really, if you don't like it don't buy it, if they are left with loads of inventory they will learn

have to say that I am surprised that the EPL are not levying huge fines against the "miscreants" and sharing the profits out amongst themselves, rich (top 6 or so) robbing the poor (everyone else).

Have watched a lot of Scottish football in general, and the general consensus is that he's extremely talented, but was a bit overawed by the occasion sometimes, and was very injury prone (despite having a fairly injury free season in Portugal).  Having said that, I'd also say that he's dealing with an extremely low block in the SPL and a very different playing style. CC has given him the opportunity to drive at defenders, and cut inside - and has probably trusted his talent more than he has in the past.

Amazing what a bit of trust, belief and the opportunity to play with freedom can do.

Sadly its a matter of time until one of the championship cloggers catches him, hope he is robust enough to cope with it when it happens

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: New Kit for next season
« on: March 20, 2024, 01:30:41 PM »
A quick google found an article (from June 2023) saying the Bham mail had said the Puma deal had an unknown end date, although we have been with them for around 6 years now so 2 x 3 years could mean it's due to expire - although given some previous comments from people in the know the new kits are usually proposed and signed off way before now - I've got in my head that December was mentioned previously.

Also curious in the article I found was this comment :
"Looking at what other manufacturers have done with striped kits, examples include Macron’s ‘scribble stripes’ at Crystal Palace, and the clean and classic black and white stripes provided for Newcastle by Castore ahead of the new season."

Ref the scribble stripes, I do hope not

I've got no love for Leeds or Ipswich but I'd be howling if Leicester bottle this  ;D

God no, we do not want to be playing against Vardy in the play offs

Whatever it is, its one of those songs that gets on your nerves. Thanks as ever Dan for more useful insights into the habits and behaviour of your near neighbours in whichever Birmingham suburb it is.  :)
No suburbs in brum, there are Ghettoes next to novels and slums with the odd favella for good measure

Hopefully that brief spurt of Chinese ownership never happens again. It's been a disaster for some

One could say they have spunked their money in that brief spurt.

Im frightened of snakes, why would i want to face a snske to get rid of my phobis?
I think its a very good idea to be aware and afraid dont you?
I mean if i see a snake i wont ignore it will i?

See, thats where you are going wrong,

how do you know that you were not in the presence of snakes many times, but because you didn't recognise them you were not afraid.
Its why rattlers have rattles to identify themselves to you and thus scare you away.

I don't think it was going up.

It was a rocket, but it was pretty straight and hit perfectly, it wasn't rising imo.

whats a rocket that doesn't go up?  A torpedo ? I'm going to have to think about this one !! :-[

I can confirm that Andy Street was absolutely involved in assisting in getting us in front of stakeholders that could make a difference. We were always in regular contact with his office, and was always open and helpful to us when contacted. That’s the truth

Thats good to hear, a politicians networking capability can be very useful, (even if the politician maybe not so useful :-) )

more Okay-ish, I thought ;-)

They're absolutely correct and if anyone on their board of directors is reading this post he most definitely isn't worth the oodles of money they'd clearly be hoping for. Terrible player with one trick which apparently works with both feet. He'll be confusing himself before he knows it. Get rid. Boooooo. Another blooper from the Stalking and Monitoring Departments. Bang average.

couldn't agree more, 1 trick pony, with zero potential, get him up the M6 sharpish !

Looking forward to that. Would be good to hear his plans for us.

Phase 1 has to be invest in the squad to get us back in the Premier League.

Phase 2 is to establish ourselves there again.

Phase 3 is hopefully a stadium move to 35k-40k capacity which I think we could fill on the Premier League with the team going well and with the right pricing.

with you on 1 & 2 but not 3 sorry.
Hawthorns expansion yes, moving No!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Alex Palmer
« on: March 11, 2024, 02:50:21 PM »
Okay - so we've narrowed it down then.

We want a goal keeper who
- Never ever drops a clanger
- Commands his box
- Catches everything in sight
- Makes match winning saves
- Never gives the ball away

Has any one got £30m or £40m spare?

We're not going to afford anyone better than Palmer on our resources. He will make the occasional mistakes but so do most goalkeepers to be honest.

He is the very least of our problems.

You missed, pings the ball 50 yards to players feet without fail.

25
could he finish as our highest scorer?

That would be impressive !
