Yeah I nearly dropped my cup of tea when I saw him! He should have gone for the £30,000  rather than the £3000.

Didn't know he'd done Coach Trip (I don't watch it!)

Thought you meant he'd been keeping Stanley Victor company of an evening to start with  :P .

Still to this day by far the best left back I've ever seen anywhere.

Should've had 100 caps.

Wonder if we get rid of players rather too hastily sometimes. Have been watching the progress of Leeds United this season. In the play off  positions with the Championships leading goal scorer Chris Wood, (25 goals). Also, our ex academy player, Kemar Reefe, seems to be playing a significant role. If Leeds do get promoted it will be interesting to see how they get on in the top flight. Seeing as how our forwards are incapable of finding the net at the moment, Wood up front and Reefe supplying the crosses, might have been interesting!

Kemar ROOFE we held on to longer than usual (22/23) but just didn't show promise here or on loan until Oxford in league 2 (a league he'd had two previous loans in) and eventually didn't deserve a place in the 25 man squad or wanted a permanent place to play at Oxford. his rise has been fast and late.

Wood i believe left us, rather than the other way around. he wanted games which we couldn't offer in the prem. he was wanted and had played for us, but hed made his decision and bounced to Leicester and ipswich on loan before Leeds.

It's not unique to our club this thing of letting academy players go and then they kick on when playing regularly in lower leagues. It's an unfortunate bi-product of it being so hard to break through at premier league clubs. It's great to see with Wood and Roofe really and reflects well on our academy. It'll be interesting to see if a prem club decides to take a punt on getting Wood during the summer....not sure what his contract situation is.

With Wood, we signed him when he was 17 and he was already playing professionally, so not really totally a product of our academy as such. Seem to remember him doing well for Leicester in their promotion season and then being let go, so wasn't just us that didn't see him as a premier league striker.

With Roofe, looking at his career stats, he didn't really do anything with us or in his loans over 5 years, until joining Oxford in League two. By then he's 23 and only really played 35 odd professional games in 5 years. Fair play to him for doing well for Leeds now but again he's only scored a couple for them too, I don't think it would have been right for us to hang on to him after not really showing much in his loan spells or breaking into our first team.

Neither was really good enough at the time and certainly wouldn't have developed had they stayed. Best thing to do is ger a decent sell on and then get rid.

Wood particularly isn't Prem quality. Roofe hasn't been tested yet.

Lee Hughes has left AFC Telford United to start his managerial career "at another club"

EDIT: he's appointed as joint manager of Worcester City beside caretaker boss John Snape.

He was reportedly last seen wearing a baseball cap and a pair of white trainers, allegedly  :o  ;) .

at his best would have him over any midfielder at the club at present, pity he's declined so quick last few years.
