West Bromwich Albion FC / Loyalty Points
« on: July 19, 2017, 01:52:19 PM »
The club have now decided in their wisdom or lack of that if you go by official coach to away games you get extra loyalty points.

Therefore people like me who go by train could miss out on tickets.

Very odd and something that needs to be addressed.

Fed in great form going into this, Djokovic on the decline and Murray carrying a knock.

Should be great.

Laura Robson already out.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Yuning Zhang - Signed
« on: July 03, 2017, 11:41:41 AM »
ALBION have completed the signing of one of China's brightest young football talents.

Yuning Zhang, a 20-year-old striker who has been playing with Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredevisie since 2015, has been recruited on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

But Baggies fans will have to be patient for a glimpse of the China international in action in the Club's famous stripes after Albion agreed an immediate two-year loan for Zhang with Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.

Albion describe the deal as a "development project" for one of the biggest names in Chinese football in the hope that Zhang can one day make a breakthrough at Premier League level.

The Club have also made it clear that the investment sits outside the ring-fenced transfer budget for strengthening Albion's Premier League squad for the forthcoming campaign.

With China currently outside the top 50 of FIFA's world rankings, a work permit would be ruled out for Yuning and the chance to play in Germany's top division is seen as an ideal alternative nurturing ground.

The deal also aligns strongly with the commercial strategy of Albion's controlling shareholder Guochuan Lai in his efforts to grow the Club's profile in his homeland.

Zhang's signature for the Baggies is expected to trigger unprecedented interest in the Far East in the only Chinese-owned Premier League club.

Richard Garlick, Albion's Director of Football Administration, flew to Germany this week to tie up the details of the three-club deal and said: "Zhang will get the chance to further develop at Bremen, with whom we have an excellent relationship.

"He will be challenging for a place in a top European league and we will be monitoring his progress before reassessing his prospects at the end of the loan period. There is no doubt he has a lot of qualities which Bremen are well-positioned to grow and develop.

"His progress will be the subject of great interest here at Albion but also in Germany and in China.

"There is no doubt that there are commercial benefits that come with the deal but the primary target is to help develop one of the best young players in a booming corner of the football industry."

Yuning is a hugely popular figure in China where he caused a major stir by scoring two goals on his international debut against Trinidad & Tobago a year ago.

He has subsequently been regularly included by new "Team Dragon" manager Marcello Lippi. Yuning also became the first Chinese player to score in the Erevedisie following his transfer to Vitesse from his first Chinese club Hangzhou Greentown.

Any news yet on tickets for this one? Should be on sale to HSTH tomorrow but nothing from the club. It had the potential to be moved for TV but can't see that they've announced anything either?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Fundraising - Bradley
« on: January 18, 2017, 11:27:33 AM »
I'm guessing most of you may have seen the story of this Bradley lad who is suffering from cancer and our fans raising money for him. He has has nationwide coverage with many clubs donating to his cause.

Although I think it's great and feel sorry for the lad, there are also thousands of other kids suffering.

What are your views on the latest bucket collection being held this weekend and another banner that's been produced?

Chelsea (a) moved to a 12pm on a Sunday, Spurs (a) shifted to 12.30pm Kick off on the Saturday instead of 3pm

United at home has also been moved to a later Saturday kick off

Nightmare. Won't be doing Chelsea now for that reason. More ridiculous scheduling.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Brendan Galloway Joins Albion on Loan
« on: August 22, 2016, 11:44:24 AM »
Looks to be sorted

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-defender-brendan-galloway-seal-11781841

Brendan is expected to seal a season-long loan move to West Brom today.

The 20-year-old is understood to be travelling to the West Midlands today ahead of completing the deal.

Galloway had looked set to move to Newcastle United but Everton decided to accept an offer from the Baggies.

It is understood that the Championship side were hoping to agree a loan move with a view to making it a permanent transfer.

But West Brom will just take Galloway on loan from the remainder of the season.

Baggies’ boss Tony Pulis was forced to deploy Jonny Evans at left-back against Everton on Saturday and so Galloway could find himself straight in the team for tomorrow night’s EFL Cup tie at Northampton.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Matchday Ticket Pricing
« on: June 30, 2016, 02:48:27 PM »
Albion have just announced a price freeze on tickets. £39 CAT A and £25 CAT B games.

http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/west-brom-albion-frozen-ticket-prices-201617-hawthorns-3162508.aspx

This means that if you did games on a game by game basis, you'd be better off going in the away end than sitting in the home end. Strange one. I know the counter  is 'get a season ticket' , but it's not always that easy.

Just for a bit of fun, you can only choose one player from each team in the league. Obviously you will end up leaving 2 teams out. Aim for a Starting 11 and 7 subs. Go..

                            De Gea
   Bellerin       Stones      Evans     Clyne
  Mahrez       Payet    Fabregas      Bolasie
                      Aguero  Kane

Subs: Ighalo, Defoe, Wjinaldum, Matt Ritchie, Ashley Williams Naismith, Butland

** I know I've got Clyne as left back, but he's played there a few times

West Bromwich Albion FC / Free Coach Travel
« on: March 03, 2016, 04:22:13 PM »
Most of you may have already noticed that we are to put on 40 coaches for the Sunderland game.

Yet again, going to have another rant about this. Why not offer the option of coach free or the equivalent off your ticket? We normally charge what, about £22 on the coach for this. Gladly take that off the £29 ticket price or to put towards my train fare

Can this be raised at the next Assembly for any of those that attend.

So with all this going on with Brunt, the money raising, banner making , clapping, etc etc, I thought I'd ask people what they really think about the relationship we as fans have with the players.

Do you honestly think they care? (Coin in the face aside)

To me , they don't really seem that fussed either way. The amount of players who clap or come over at away games is in a minority, regardless of result. The same faces come around the ground at full time at home games.

I'm a believer in singing throughout the game regardless of how badly we are playing as the atmosphere could lift them, but come 5pm (or whatever time sky dictate) it seems most of them couldn't give two hoots anyway

Surprised we've only asked for 2,000 tickets. Surely we could shift 3,000 for a midweek, it's only up the road. £11 on the train and £22 a ticket for adults. Bargain.

General Football & Sports / Euro 2016 Tickets
« on: February 17, 2016, 12:47:46 PM »
Hi all,

Wasn't sure whether to stick this in here or the woodman. Has anyone applied for Euro 2016 tickets?

I've got my application back and got tickets for two of the 3 group games, however no luck with the England vs Wales game.

If anyone has tickets to sell, knows of spares to sell, or can help at all, please let me know as soon as possible

Thanks

Anybody following it?

One of the best knocks I've seen from AB De Villiers this morning. 162 not out from 66, simply stunning. His last 62 came from 15 balls.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Quality of the local press
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:27:25 PM »
Seen a few posts and thought this did need a topic of it's own.Seems to me that the quality of stories and reporting has really gone down the pan this season.

You've got the mail trying to be humorous and basically just quoting tweets from fans, and the express and star sitting very much on the fence in terms of stories.

The mail stories may just be down to the parent group the mirror pushing the stories and they don't appear to include the same level of detail and quality they did under CL either.

Thoughts?

We all know he's on his last legs, and the axe will soon come down, but for you as a fan what would he have to do in the next say 5 games to retain his job.

Next 5 fixtures which takes us up to the end of 2014:

Hull (a)
Villa (h)
Qpr (a)
City (h)
Stoke (a)

That takes us to 19 games, I'd say we need at least 20 points by the turn of the team, so 7 points at the least.

Rohit Sharma has just smashed 264 from 173 balls for India against Sri Lanka in a one day game.

33 boundaries and 9 sixes. Superb display of batting that left them 404/5, he was out on the last ball.

England just about make 264 as a team  ;D

West Bromwich Albion FC / Winter slump
« on: November 10, 2014, 09:46:19 AM »
Just looking at our fixtures up to the turn of the year, and I really can't see us picking up many points. Yet another winter slump and more struggle to come I think. Looking at what we've done so far is worrying and if we carry on with the slow, sidewards football we are in big trouble.

Predictions below :

Chelsea V West Brom (L) - Heavy defeat
West Brom V Arsenal (D) - Plucky draw gets the crowd back onside
West Brom V West Ham (D) - In form west ham attacking with pace. Second half fight back gets us another point
Hull V West Brom (L) - One of those 'off days'
West Brom V Aston Villa (D) - Villa to hit form and come from behind yet again
QPR V West Brom (W) - They do well against big teams, not so well smaller ones. Away win here, christmas cheer
West Brom V Man City (L) - Too good for us , will get done in midfield and out wide
Stoke V West Brom (D) - 0-0, boring, windy, lacklustre.

That's 7 points, taking us into 2015 with a grand total of 20 points from 19 games. Bare in mind I'm in a terrible mood and suffering from man-flu.  ;D

I know this will be moved once we have the match thread, but just noticed we have only asked for an intial 900 tickets in the upper tier. Not many at all.

Hopefully we sell that and more, 900 for a saturday 3pm game poor. Only thing I could think of is the club is wary that it could be moved for Europa League but thought that would have been changed by now
