Did i hear correctly Wolves were englands first representative in the european cup as it were known them days

they do have much to discuss

No Man Utd were the first but the impetus to create the European Cup in part came from the high profile floodlit they played.

Sadly they're only 4 or 5 points from safety, with plenty of games to play. They're very poor though.

One of us should buy them for £10
Maybe that figure is a bit too high, so we can all have a whip round? Huh?

No whip round.

Just pay in instalments, 1p per decade.

Even then you'd be ripped off at half the price.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

So do I, although I would like to play them in the cup next year. There is no other game that comes anywhere near close in terms of atmosphere and tension as the Black Country Derby.

Quite happy for 1-5 to be our last EVER game against them.

apart from the world wars when we didn't play, there's only been a few occasions when we've gone 5 years without a BCD , I don't think we've met in the league cup either so its getting a while since we gave them a thrashing, but nothing will ever beat that 1-5.

I barely recognise any of their players they've gone so far backwards.

Seems to me that Jacket is turning them into what he is. Mid to low end championship.

Very little class in that side. They've sold/lost their best players and replaced them with sh***.

Enjoy all the local derbies next season Dingles because it looks like the Black Country derby is donkey's years away.

Love this off The Mix.

Just have to face the bare facts. Albion have eclipsed us as a football club on all levels and we'll never be on par or exceed them. All down to management, nous and strategy at the top. I guess we'll need to lower our sights as Walsall being our main local rival now.

they had one decent spell in the fifties and we were not that far behind, apart from that we have always been above them and always will be. Walsall are their rivals now

More than a small way! It was our 'should have been 10' humiliation of them that caused the knee jerk sacking of McCarthy .  this was the catalyst for their double relegation. Now their parachute money is gone they could struggle as a Championship club along with likes if forest, Leeds, sheff Wednesday etc.  for some time to come.

With us most likely being the only premier league team next season does anyone think that could encourage new support from the area

A post below that one makes a very valid point though...

Peace could easily sell to a bunch of cowboys if his wallet benefits. They can't even boast a trophy during all their years of being more 'successful than Wolves'.

Blackburn can. Birmingham can. Wigan can.

We've got nowt to show for it.

immediately? No, or if so a small number. but that will grow with time unless younger fans hop on the usual bandwagons or we do anything of note.

Yeah.  I'd swap places with Wigan Blackburn or blues in a shot. NOT

We have a much stronger club to show for it,  we're part of the elite league when it matters, the TV money makes us a bigger club than wolves, we can pay higher wages, sign better players,  are higher profile around the world due to premier league interest and coverage.   It's not all about trophies , the 3 listed are testament to that, by keeping on developing as a club makes us stronger contenders for a trophy each year. We have a lot to show for it, we've eclipsed them for a start, despite all the advantages SJH gave them, that's an achievement in itself.

Not sure to be honest, I think winning a trophy and then a season following your team in Europe would be the ultimate even if it meant a few more crappy seasons in the Championship.

No chance.

I'd happily take a season or two in league one if it meant I could tell my grandchildren I saw Darren Fletcher lift the FA cup for Albion.

Football is about winning trophies and we've gone far too long without a trophy.

Stuff the Premier League and let it shove its money up its backside.
