Caleb Taylor scored his first career goal yesterday, got an assist too.

He turned 20 the other day, being a centre back and doing well in league 1 already, you'd have to say he has a lot of potential. I've got high hopes for him.

Awarded Man of the match as well from what I could see. Cheltenham fans still seem very happy with him. Some talk that he has had a couple of off games of late but at 19 (as he was), in that position and in a struggling team I sort of expect that.

What we do with him next is the difficult one. Do we throw him into the first team too early or do we loan him to a top league 1 club instead. Preference would be for another loan move, regardless of our league status.

Good also to see Tom Fellows continues to start at Crawley, having nailed down a place there. It's league 2 and I've no great hopes for him making our first team, but if he can forge a career in the football league, earning 40 grand a year then it's another small success for the academy to showcase to the next generation.

I think Bartley's contract renewal makes the decision for us; he goes out on loan again for me. With O'Shea, Bartley and Ajayi signed up for mext year for sure, he'd likely be 4th choice at best which is not that beneficial really.

Good for Ted Cann. He's always looked a very decent keeper in the highlights and occasional games I've seen him play in.

Martin Kelly was Sky's man of the match last night, before getting injured and looking out for the long term.

I genuinely wish him well with his recovery. That said I do question the wisdom of a two year contract given his age and injury record. Reiterate that I mean him well and I'm most definitely not posting with any intentional disrespect to him.

Zak Ashworth scores for Bolton in the league cup. He might develop into a decent goalscoring wing back. Hope we haven't written him off too soon.

Whenever i saw him play always looked one of our most useful kids, composed and a cracking left peg
Had a bit of a mare at chesterfield but so did many others, bombed out since
Would have been nice to see him in a strong line up not a patched up cup team like some of the other young uns

I bet you're just dying to stencil spray that on the dressing room wall at the academy along with ' because Carlos doesn't like you anyway so you might as well bog off down the Villa'  ;D .

Is Faal the only one (so far) to have gone out on loan?

Faal was never going to be near the first team this season, so it changes nothing. This is a perfect loan, a chance for him to try to develop in league 2 and show us he has a future here.

I always like a look on twitter to see what fans are saying about our on loan players. So, a quick round up.

Karlan Grant - already universally negative from Cardiff fans,  many calling for him to be dropped already, seems he has put in some really poor performances so far. One fan commented this was our revenge for Zohore.

Mo Faal - Doncaster were thumped at Newport, with Faal coming off the bench. Both Donny's manager McCann and fans have however commented he was the one positive today. McCann believes he should have brought Faal on earlier, while fans are calling him to start the next game.

Zak Ashworth - Still waiting for his first league start, he did notch midweek in the cup though.

While not out on loan, i've included him anyway - David Button - For a club their size, Reading have a poor online presence. Anyway, early reviews suggest he made a shaky start, he was lobbed despite being almost on his line and one fan commented it was the David Button they were warned they would get.

Saw the goal Button conceded, it was a deflected shot which is harsh to blame him for. They did say he usually took 2 attempts to fully control a shot etc with his hands though

Good and interesting post on our ‘loans out’  Baggies.
I often fear we may be shooting ourselves in the foot with loaning out players given the poor strength of our squad and it it encouraging to see that the players you have mentioned have not exactly set the world on fire.

Mo Faal scores his first ever league goal. Notched the Doncaster Rovers goal in a 2-1 defeat at Wrexham.
Well done young man.

Brad Foster (no relation) has joined Alvechurch on a 28 day loan. Odd, I though they stopped these short loans?
