Prem teams to be relegated
« on: December 04, 2011, 08:03:26 PM »
Which three teams do you think will finish at the bottom?

I have to admit, I didn't think Bolton would be struggling.

Although Swans are doing well at home, I don't think it will last. All new teams that get promoted do fairly well at the start of the season (except Derby haha) but most can't keep it up. I'm not entirely convinced of Norwich yet.

My three are Bolton, Blackburn and Swansea.

Wigan
Blackburn
Norwich

For me, Norwich remind me a lot of Blackpool last season.

Unless they do something in January I think Wigan already look in a decent amount of trouble.

I'd go for Wigan, Blackburn and Norwich too.

I do hope that Norwich stay up though.  I've never been a fan of propped up Wigan in the Premiership and I hope they go down to be honest.

Wigan - I think their time is up.

Swansea - remind me of us under Mowbray.

Don't know who else, i think Kean will leave and Blackburn will stay up. They do have some good players.

Bolton maybe? Could be wolves or maybe Norwich will drop.

Long way to go yet, I wouldn't bet on anyone out of the bottom 12 at present.

You're right, it's still very much all to play for for many sides, including us.

very hard to call till after Jan... and we see who improves their squads

but as most have already said....

Wigan look on very shakey ground after a very good run in the Prem. You just feel their time is up.

Blackburn look to be a shambles on and off the field. If Kean stays well into the New Year I think they will go down.. Sack him now and they could get out of trouble BUT only if their Indian owners wise up.

Bolton I think is an aberation and while they won't get too far away from the trouble I think they will rise above it.

Norwich, Swansea and QPR seem to have their moments when you think they might just be OK but Jan activity will probably define their Season.. Invest and they can survive...

;D Wigan (because they have had their day and luck)

Norwich (they are the Blackpool..entertaining but a full season in the Prem will wear them down)

Blackburn(because they wont change managers, then it will be too late)

ran through this and came to the same conclusion as bb74, wigan (ran out of steam), blackburn ( a shambles) and wolves (just plain rubbish).

Baggies finished 14th and Man Utd won the league

Wigan
Blackburn

and either Norwich, Swansea or Sunderland. I'm not convinced Martin O'Neill can do his usual trick this time.Sunderland have no goal scorer...even Bendtner looks laboured and they way they fell apart against Wolves has all the marks of a side in crisis.

Wigan will stay up they have the fight and spirit and a few players with the ability. Last season everyone wrote them off as certainties with 5 games to go and everyones doing it now in November.

Don't get me wrong they are weak but for me it's Norwich, QPR and Blackburn (or Bolton if Kean goes)

Theres already an unhealthy gap opening up from 7th to 8th, could be 8 points if Liverpool win tonight.
Even at this stage of the season its a lot of points in this league.
I'll plump for Wigan, Swansea and I'd like to see Sunderland go now that stupid little gits took over but I think it could be Blackburn or Bolton.
Any 3 from 12 at this stage depends on what teams do in the transfer window.

They're 13th after beating the deluded half of Liverpool tonight.

Every year there is a simple theory to who will go down .
Usually if you have a decent frontline you will stay up (goals =points)
Of course a solid defence would help but not many in the bottom 6 at Christmas have one so....
At work I get the gang together , list the teams and ask them to name the frontlines , See below

Baggies (Pete/Long/Tchoyi) safe
Wolves (doyle/fletcher) safe
Swansea (????) doomed
Sunderland (Bentdner ????) doomed (dependent on trans in jan )
Blackburn (Yakubu ) maybe enough
Wigan (????) bye
Villa (bent agbowotsit) unfortunately enough but still struggling
Bolton (davies /Ngog :D) down
Norwich (holt ??) down if Sunderland buy
If youre going to get told off, get told off for doing something not for doing nothing..

I don't think that theory is quite right in fairness. You're right your chances of survival are much greater if you have a strike force which can score goals and a defence which can keep you at least 6-8 clean sheets. You mention Wigan as "bye" because they don't have the strike force yet they have continuously since their opening season in the Premier League managed to survive.

Swansea also have the ability to keep clean sheets, they've already got quite a few more than us meaning they'll draw a lot more games than they win or lose meaning they'll always be in that hunt. Although, Norwich, Swansea and QPR don't have star name strikers they're doing the business so far and that's all that counts.

Graham has scored a few goals for Swansea this season, they are pretty decent at the back. Vorm has been a great signing.
