£6m Is the sort of fee where I can’t really work out who has the best deal. On one hand, it’s a lot for such an inexperienced defender who could easily flop, especially with the quality of full backs being produced in England at the moment. On the other hand, they were prepared to pay £11m in January and this is nearly a 50% reduction.

I’ll personally take it, as it feels sensible enough to keep both clubs relatively happy.

We should have sold him for the 8m or whatever it was in Jan. Mad not to but this is the Albion.

We couldn’t, Palace pulled out of the deal.

Palace pulled out as the medical found he needed a knee op.

They offered a lower fee due to the finding but we turned it down is what I remembered the papers reporting. Apologies if wrong.

£6-8m sort of covers a lot Pereira fee so happy with that.

I read somewhere on here that we already have the pereira fee ready to go.
So forgive money is for new signings, although I do stand corrected.

Pereira was out of last years budget, he's already paid for in the books.

Palace pulled out as the medical found he needed a knee op.

So, when we agreed a fee of c£11m they pulled out because of knee issues.
Six months later they're happy to sign him as knee issues have been fixed (at the cost of the selling club, I might add).

I can't see much argument that we shouldn't be getting closer to the fee previously agreed than not.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson's decision to offer a contract to former England full-back Nathaniel Clyne, 29 - who is back training with his boyhood club - will depend on 19-year-old Nathan Ferguson's recovery from injury. (Football London)

Still injured and could be long term

I know it's mean-spirited, but I'd laugh if he never plays for them.

As long as we get our wedge, I really don’t care if he does or doesn’t, that’s the football industry for you  :)

Think he's still in his rehab process. I found this piece from fantasy football scout which has a quote from Roy Hodgson.

Got to wait for the hearing/tribunal first i imagine. He's only just got onto grass for CPFC but he might yet make an appearance this season for them.

Seems he's picked up another injury this month.

He was on loan at Southend and can remember seeing him score one spectacular goal.

It's crazy how long these tribunal scenarios drag on.

Just re-read Hodgsons comments and he's training but no contact so not sure how far that puts him off being game fit

Fair play Nathan, looks like you played a blinder getting a large premier league contract when it looks highly unlikely he’s not got the body for it.

Over 12 months of fairly unexplained injuries is very unusual and it’s frankly quite hard to see how he’s going to go on and get 200 appearances in football at any level, let alone at the top of the game.

Ah ok cheers you're right. I remember seeing the goal and wondering if that was our NF and they said something which made me think it was.
Anyway, surely we shouldn't have to wait for him to be fit for the tribunal to meet.

In fairness players can and do get on a run of injuries....we've had enough young players affected to realise this.

Especially for someone so young. His development will have been completely stunted and you wonder what his mental state is like having not played for so long at such a young age.

I look at someone like Jonny Williams who was by all accounts very talented, but never got over the injuries he had as a youngster.

Williams was a very technical footballer but in the Sunderland documentary, you could see his mental strength was very damaged. I think it happened to Anichebe too. One big leg break at a young age and his career was full with small, but problematic injuries that may have been in his head.

It's still early days for Ferguson. With a good pre-season behind him he could be playing regular football next season (probably out on loan if so), but it could go the other way and he could have a very limited career.

I haven't got a membership so can't read the article, but David Ornstein is reporting that Ferguson has followed Eze in suffering an Achilles injury

https://theathletic.com/2607354/?source=twitteruk

Without reading the article I can't tell how serious but the comments on twitter suggest her has tore it, so probably out most of next season as well.

Not sure where that leaves us transfer fee wise, but I can't imagine we will be getting much for him now. Wouldn't be surprised if he retires young. 4 or 5 injuries in the space of 18 months.
