I am as good as resigned to us being in championship next season. 10 players out of contract summer. 2 loans returning. Johnstone and periera will probably receive offers. And oshea and ajayi may also have their suitors they dont have huge contracts so the club might be listening. So that's 16 players that could leave...

I expect us to offer deals to Townsend bartley HRK Edwards for championship. I expect grosicki Austin gibbs to go (unless gibbs takes a paycut) I would think we would let bond go also and peltier but then I cant believe we signed them again last summer.

We get to finish the rebuild we started last summer. Adding some youth and up and coming talent cant harm us. However the rebuild wrong and the wrong manager (cant see big sam staying should we drop) and we are starting st the abyss

West Bromwich Albion FC / System / Tactics / Personnel
« on: October 25, 2018, 06:22:55 AM »
For me the current tactics personnel and system
Isn't working the defence aren't protected and the midfield is totally overrun and we carry the front 3 in games.

For the majority of the games we have been overrun and outplayed regardless of the results. So for a while that result hasn't been coming for me.

For me We have 2 choices of system we could switch to that would still keep our attacking impetus and also make us abit more solid and might give us chance to control the game;

           Johnstone
Dawson Bartley Hegazi Gibbs
    Field Barry Livermore
    Phillips Gayle Barnes

Bench: myhill tosin brunt Morrison Burke sako Rodriguez

Or:

              Johnstone
Dawson Bartley Hegazi Gibbs
           Barry Livermore
       Phillips Barnes brunt
             Gayle/Rodriguez

Bench: myhill tosin Townsend Morrison (or hoolahan) field sako Rodriquez (or Gayle depending which starts)

West Bromwich Albion FC / As expected
« on: January 30, 2016, 06:27:51 PM »
WBA Is a mess. The manager is a dinosaur and while he should be credited for keeping us up last year and for how he has managed to grin out points this year he isn't taking us forward. He has actually made our squad worse.

I see that we have 3 players who can create chances and are good in possession; brunt Morrison and Sessengon- all of which are the wrong side of 30.
Evans and Yacob are top draw. Gmac and fletcher do a job but are also wrong side of 30. We have one striker who looks capable of scoring at this level.

McLean is a work horse and is made to look decent in a awful team. Gardner is another workhorse devoid of quality who can score a few beauts a season but generally isn't worth a spot in the squad. We have lambert who is costing us a fortune and he's finished. Anichibe has 2 good games a season and doesn't look like scoring. Chester poco and Gamboa just don't look good enough.

We literally need a whole new squad. Every year we have failed to improve, stagnation leads to extinction.

In the summer we need 2 full backs 2 wingers 2 centre midfielders and 2 strikers. We really are a poor outfit. We also need a new manager. Another year where we survive by the skin of our teeth and little more.

A game I used to play with my dad and his mates. How many of the current 92 league clubs home ground have you watched WBA? Old grounds sadly only count if WBA are yet to play at tbe new ground. I've done 59/92 lost a few too the confrence over the years. Haven't gained a new ground for about 5 years :(

So questions:

How many you done?
Worst away ground you have visited? (Portsmouth is a disgrace)
Best ground you have visited? (For me emirates)
Favourite old ground? (I always like watching WBA v posh)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Winning mentality
« on: December 21, 2014, 09:24:00 PM »
I decided to calculate how many games we had won between December 2012 and now.
December onwards in 2012/13 season we won against: Norwich qpr Liverpool Sunderland Swansea Southampton (6 out of 24 from December to end)

2013/14 season we beat:Sunderland Manchester United, crystal palace Newcastle United, Swansea Norwich west ham (7)

This season we have beaten spurs Burnley Leicester and villa so far from 17 games.

So from the last 79 league games Albion have won 17. That is nothing short of awful. We need somebody to come I to this job whose not afraid to drop players and somebody. If we win one every 4 on this seasons average we will get 9 wins.

The club is in a awful position and it's just getting worse. We need a manager and a coaching team with fresh ideas, because relying on 3 worse sides isn't a clever strategy.
I think we have the players to finish top half but there not being utilised correctly hence why we only win once every 4.6 games.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Hypothetical ins and outs
« on: January 30, 2014, 10:15:06 AM »
Come summer who stays and who goes if we stay up? And should the unthinkable happen who would stay and who would we lose upon relegation?

In prem goes: Rosenberg Dorrans Luagno Reid Anelka Vydra Sinclair Popov Gera.
Need decent pacey left back, another right back to compete with jones. 2
Strikers of quality. Odemwingie Esc players goals from nothing.

If we went down I think we would lose: Olsson Mulumbu Yacob Foster and possibly Morrison and sessi.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Clarke vs Brunt
« on: September 03, 2013, 04:40:39 PM »
what has happend to brunt!
all 3 games in the league this season have been crying out for brunt.
at everton we were in the game and we couldnt keep hold of the ball and he could and should have brought brunt on yet decided to go with vydra and we found ourselves even further under the kosh....

against swansea again for me brunt should have started, rather play a midfielder on the wing then shane long.... even so when towards the end of the game when we were going for it he decided to opt for the kid and the berg...and putting anelka in midfield. we still looked tootheless going forward and it just gifted the game swansea

we havent scored any goals, this is mainly due to the fact we arent creating chances. any coincidence that the best crosser of the ball and our leading assist maker is nowhere to be seen.

has clarke fallen out with him?

West Bromwich Albion FC / any positives
« on: April 30, 2012, 12:29:03 AM »
If Roy goes, I will be gutted as he has done wonders for us in his time here countless records broken! relegated the wolves saw us win at liverpool newcastle and of course at seal park. the whole point of this thread is to ask whether or not their are any positives in him leaving? what i could kind of come up with;

1) tchoyi might get a chance to play under a different manager.
2) we might get a manager who odemwingie gets on with thus he might actually play to his full potenital!?
3) might get a more attacking style of play back.
4) substitions before the 70minute mark....

any other positives? are my positives legit? and i dont need the negatives im very aware of them! :(

providing we beat Aston Villa, would the Albion faithful except us losing at Bolton in the effort to send villa down? i would happily us lose their if it sent villa down

General Football & Sports / would this ruin football?
« on: January 20, 2012, 01:33:47 PM »
Article by chelski boss AVB asking for english sides to have B teams in the championship to feed the premiership. personally i think this would ruin the english game, as it would mean supporting one of these sides pointless, and make the game more about the top 4-6 then it already is.

West Bromwich Albion FC / wheres tchoyi?
« on: January 14, 2012, 11:33:10 PM »
not even in the squad today.
hes style of play direct and pacey is what we have needed last few home games; wigan, everton, today.

leads me to the conclusion is that he is on his way out the club.... thoughts

West Bromwich Albion FC / If you could Tell Roy

West Bromwich Albion FC / Next 3 games-crucial?
« on: December 02, 2011, 01:45:00 AM »
i think all are winnable games. this weekend being the hardest of the 3.
5 points minimum for me out next 3! i think we can get 7 personally.

think its important we do well as the run we have after newcastle (a) man city (h) everton (h) spurs (a) is horrible and could see us go a few games without getting anything. if we do balls these next few games up i can see us being in the bottom 3 by new year.

so my questions of such?
how many points do we need?
and are any of the next 3 'must wins'?

I think 7 points and wigan and blackburn come into that catogry

West Bromwich Albion FC / points by new year
« on: October 10, 2011, 02:36:44 AM »
we will have played everyone by the end of new years day!
so 19 games in halfway through how many points should we be aiming to have by then?

i would be disappointed if we dont have more then 15 points by then! i would be panicking if we had 12 or less.

i would be happy with 20 anything better id be extatic!

looking at winnable games: Bolton (H) Wigan (H) wolves (H) QPR (A) Blackburn (A)
is there no reason why we couldnt get to 20?

how many points do we need at xmas? least you would accept?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Tchoyi
« on: October 10, 2011, 02:26:17 AM »
i am an admirier of somen tchoyi feel it was harsh him being dropped after the first 2 games when he was our stand our performer! dont think we have looked the same in an attacking way since!
he looked brilliant with long first 2 games question is the way odemwingie is playing at the minute would you drop him for tchoyi?

16
West Bromwich Albion FC / hodgson out??
« on: October 03, 2011, 02:39:55 AM »
Having read a few comments on here tonight moaning about the negativity and tactics of hodgson im merely posing a question would anyone see sacking hodgson as realisitic or acceptable? how many of you would like to see him go?

I dont like his tactics i dont like the negativity it annoys me how he wont make substituions until were either losing or there only for time wasting sake. but i like how he kept us up and i think he can keep us up a second time which is what this club needs. having said that i would like to see a more positive manager who uses our offensive minded players to the full extent.

I AM NOT TRYING TO CAUSE ANY TROUBLE AND NOR AM I A FULLY PLEDGED HODGSON OUTER IM MERELY CREATING A DEBATE. (before someone criticises or attacks me ha)

General Football & Sports / away ground
« on: August 04, 2011, 10:22:10 AM »
As a traveling Albion Fan which is the worst ground you have been to in regards to away facilities?

I went to Bristol City the other week and thought that was pretty shocking!
Although Portsmouth the last time i went had no roof and about 4 toilets which is shocking for any proffesional standard so im going to say there?

thoughts?

General Football & Sports / OFFICIAL N-POWER CHAMPIONSHIP THREAD
« on: May 24, 2011, 05:25:19 PM »
numerous discussion points!

1) who do we want to come up from championship? - swansea new away day for me

2) what channel are the league 1 and playoffs on as i notice sky arent advertising them? -presume bbc?

3) where are the playoffs being played as the champions league final is at wembley?

in regards to my fourth point i think its disgusting that the games have been moved away from wembley to accomodate the champions league. the whole point of the playoffs is an outing at wembley!
if they wanted to put the champions league final their they should have had it midweek so the football league playoffs dont lsoe out. I am already vexed about the FA cup being moved because of the european football!

am i alone in this opinion that the champions league should have taken a back seat in comparison to firstly the FA cup and the football league play offs?

West Bromwich Albion FC / opener
« on: May 19, 2011, 01:42:35 AM »
as this season has all but drawn to a close i find myself thinking off players in and outs and of course the start of next season. brings me to the question who do people want on the opening day?

swansea/reading away?

would do me very nicely

West Bromwich Albion FC / players end of season doo
« on: May 16, 2011, 12:29:26 AM »
mulumbu picked up the player of season award what a suprise haha!
on other notes the chairman has pledged to incrase the capacity to 30k within the next two years.

and on asking mulumbu if he would be here next year he replied "i will" i stated i would hold him too it and he said "you can" and smiled as he went to talk to someone else! I should have asked pete this!

quality doo

West Bromwich Albion FC / tchoyi & Ibanez
« on: May 09, 2011, 01:09:34 AM »
i thought tchoyi was one of our better players against the dogheads whilst i thought JT looked unfit and rusty does Tchoyi warrant a starting place over him should brunt be fit for the next game!

also 2 mistakes from meite in 2 games his confidence looked on the floor at points in that game. considering we are safe is there not an argument for giving Ibanez a game? when hes played he has looked composed and solid should we give him a go? thoughts?

22
West Bromwich Albion FC / realistic aim for next season?
« on: May 04, 2011, 07:37:00 PM »
i will probably get slated for starting this too early but worth the risk!
what should we be aiming for next season? finish 14th/15th and get our third season in a row in the top flight? or do we expect a top 10 finish? scrape relegation and a cup run? thoughts?

23
should of scrapped a draw at blackpool with 9 men  (1)
tamas should of scored in the last minute against spurs at home (2)
we shouldnt have let a 3-0 lead slip against west ham (2)
if pete hadnt missed a penalty against man u! plus neville sent off and peno in first half we could have won against them (3) or maybe just a draw

potentially could have 6 or 9 points more now and would be sitting on
with the 6 we would be on 49 and sitting in 7th place with the 9 points we would be on 52 still in 7th 3 points off a european spot!

if our defending wasnt better and we got the decisions we could be a top 6 finish!
any other circumstances i have missed where we have thrown away or narrowly missed out on points?

24
West Bromwich Albion FC / if we could only win the one
« on: April 21, 2011, 09:49:45 AM »
if we could only beat villa or wolves who would you choose!?
would pick the villa as i am not old enough and not sure if i was even alive last time Albion beat villa!
as much as i would like us to beat wolves I think their capable of relegating themselves without our help!

ideally we win both but, i dont see it and would be quite happy with 2 draws in reality

25
West Bromwich Albion FC / shorey v cech
« on: April 18, 2011, 06:00:50 PM »
I thought cech had been one of the better players under the RDM era and thought it was harsh that he was to be dropped under the new manager but that is how football works.

the last 2 games shorey has made to massive mistakes! the OG at sunderland and not putting the ball out for a corner and passing it to drogba against chelsea!

I am unsure if he is any better than cech? views?
