West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Carlos Corberan
« on: Yesterday at 08:51:32 PM »
Last night's result changes very little in my view. Corberan overall is doing a good job and last night neither enhanced nor detracted from it. Corberan still wants to try to control the game in possession or out of it. so we don't play on transition   That is why we don't counter when the ball is with Palmer as frustrating as that is to watch there is method in the madness.

The tactical/selection dilemmas are still real and are likely to be unresolved any time soon.  I don't think we are punching above our weight but nor are we massively over achieving.

Correct he needs a run of wins to silence the vast majority of his critics. People forget about being bored if the team is successful

He gets forward as seems to be a good technician in some senses but not convinced by his crossing or defending. He's not a left back by any stretch of the imagination

Better than he has been but it's a low mark. Hopefully Coventry saw enough to revisit the interest they had in the summer and take another one of us...

Far from vintage. We slowed down and sat off after going ahead again which drives me bonkers. We had lady luck shine our way tonight which we have lacked in a lot of games.

Palmer did well came for some crosses and stopped some one on ones. Maja was quiet hopefully just tired rather than injured. Johnston again positive once he gets that goal I think he will really fly. Fellows until he tired decent again. Grant our best player again. Follow it up at Watford.

As CC clearly is not going to utilise Fabrotta, a LB is imperative to enable him to play others to their strengths, Conor Townsend has only got one game at Ipswich should we consider getting him back on loan?

Would rather Townsend on loan than the continued employment of Dobbin

Agree unsure If these rights are sold elsewhere as well like the middle east for example?

Why is any football match on a Sunday.?

There's a new TV deal in usa. Which now sees at least 6 championship games on every weekend. Usually 1 Friday 4 Saturday and 1 sumday

Thought he played really well in flashes - but, for me, that end product HAS to get better. His fantastic skill and poise got him in some extremely dangerous positions but he rarely tested the keeper or found his man.

Still, encouraging.

Playing into form that was as good as it's been since he was on loan. He needs his goal which will settle him down.

Grant is a player transformed and I agree he has been one of better players this season, however there is no way I am giving him a new contract. He may have played his way into a move which I think might work for everyone.

Correct. He is doing better than he has for years. But he is still one of our biggest earners. He is all endeavor and effort (never thought I would say that after first 3 years) and has an ok shot cutting in on his right foot. Easily somebody who can be improved upon technically speaking and in terms of value and return for wages

Think today was our best 11 of those available. Long term we need to find Heggem a cb partner- long term Taylor?
We need a left back. Styles isn't one. He doesn't fancy frambotta.

Most critically we need a proper athletic and technical number 10 like Matheus periera. And we need to ship out swift and diangana.

Our best performance for months. Think that's as close to our best first 11 as it stands. Whilst styles offers alot going forward he is wasted at left back. Heggem at cb is a rolls royce at this level. Thought molumby had a good game we look a far better side with his energy in the team. Johnston getting back to the man we saw last season. Keep playing him and Fellows and the goals will come.

The win will come eventually if we play like that at home.

Started with a poor first 11. Dropping molumby and styles who had both been very good of late. We lost all our energy and alot of our aggression. Racic was poor that game and Dobbin is awful.

We scored then despite having full control of first half never really pushed for second or third gol to kill the game. Second hand we sat even deeper and it was only a matter of time until they equalized. His subs fixed some of our issues then he made another lot and unsettled it again.

To waste 60 minutes on Dobbin criminal. Especially as for a good part of that time he had Fellows left to further accommodate him. Then to take Maja off when supposedly chasing a winner with 10 + stoppage to go for Wallace is inexcusable. He could have brought on Cole instead of him or even tried both of them.

We have only won 1 in 11 because unfortunately the coach is more interested in not losing than he is in winning. As it stands he has burned through his money in the bank with a lot of people. It's a transition season but in a largely poor division we could probably have snuck playoffs again.

22 more draws required to stay out of league one

Molumby HAS to score there.  On the edge of the box with no-one around him and takes a touch that puts him 7 yards out that gives the keeper and defender a chance to win the ball.

Subs have made us look a lot better thanks to Molumby's willingness to run and close down.

Needed to shoot first time but he doesn't have a goal instinct in his locker. We have thrown away 2 points again

That's been coming since start of second half.
We controlled first half and didn't do anything with possession or shoe any desire to get a second or third goal to kill this off. We are really under the cosh and look like we could concede again. Corberan doesn't have aggressive attacking changes in his locker. This is why we have only won 1 in 10

We've drawn games against some rated sides.  While we're drawing against the likes of Blackburn, Burnley, Norwich (6-1 winners last time out) and Sunderland, we're not letting them pull away from us.

I've watched quite a few Championship games on the box and the comparative standard of the individuals in our squad is fairly average excepting  two or three.  CC is performing wonders with them.

Yes they don't pull away when play us but when we draw v Oxford and Milwall etc they do..

Grant has gone from being somebody we carried to a forward you can rely on to defend from the front. He had another good game yesterday.

I want us to get shot of the likes of Ajayi Diangana and Swift.
Build a young exciting team and have a go at the FA cup and try for promotion next year.

What's a good return for him this season? 20? 25? We have 66% of season left. Very clever player. Is he out of contract summer, or did he sign 3 year deal initially?

While I am not expecting promotion and only expecting squad overhaul he is fine. Subs today cost us 2 points in my eyes

Entertainment and to see the back of overpaid players who don't contribute enough; Diangana, Swift, Wallace.

Find permanent solution to removal of Bartley/Ajayi Axis and both moved on. Get rid of fringe players that might not be good enough (early doors but Cole & Frambotta- are they worth the wage?

Not a fan of corberan but happy with him overseeing the squad overhaul that we are undergoing.

Palmer did alright no complaints
Furlong steady plenty of energy combined well with TF.
Holgate nice goal but a little shaky.
Heggem standard performance goal saving tackle.
Styles improves weekly great going forward.
Mowatt the metronome. Steady not spectacular.
Molumby my M.O.M has an energy that we lack elsewhere.
Grant endeavor and goal wrongfully disallowed good contribution one of our better players today again.
Johnson still not at it but he is getting more involved and offers more than swift, Diangana and Wallace. Needs a goal.
Fellows best game for months had fullback on toast.
Maja good hold up and link play good finish. Good game.

Racic underwhelming again for his size he isn't half a bottler he got injured not fully committing to that header. Prefer us start getting time into diakite as he is ours long term.
Wallace has dropped off a cliff he seems so cumbersome and can't trap a bag of cement these days.
Swift came on too late for me to really judge. Cole similarly so but he had one nice turn on edge of box. Usually when he comes on we aren't really attacking so will always get an unfair deal. Finally the reincarnation of Sherjil Macdonald-Dobbin he is awful we should send him back to Villa Jan 1 he offers nothing. Went from Fellows murdering the full back to the fullback lounging on a deck chair with a cocktail.

Today the coach threw away the opportunity to win with a horrific triple change that wasn't needed. We were in control of game (first half had been quite even in my eyes) and I think we would have gone on to win if we carried on or made minimal changes. Corberan more interested in not losing than winning. Point closer to staying out of league one. On to a very hard away game minus Furlong who is suspended

He's good at what he does in comparison to the rest of the pundits who aren't really that good. However it's supposedly a political neutral organization he is very too outspoken in his private life.

It wouldn't matter how much he was paid if the bbc ran advertisement and were funded for profit rather than at a state loss...
