We would have to sell him for more than 3.9 million for it to be recorded as a profit on our books? or have I totally misunderstood profit and depreciation based on contract length and what he was obtained for.

Should have sold to the Americans that own Ipswich when they came wanting to buy us.

I think Ipswich could surprise a few teams this year. I really rate their manager.

I agree, it’s very frustrating living in a town with such positivity around the football club. Good owners, CEO and Chairman. Great links with the community and are up to speed with what younger fans want to see on social media. Grady would do well in that team with the manager. He could link up with Kyle Edwards.

"Lewis Cox

Grady Diangana has admirers in the Championship, top-end clubs especially. Albion determined they will not sell on cheap after O'Shea exit. #wba"

Being a West Brom Fan living in Ipswich. I have heard they are interested.

He does have many WBA shirts, I am trying to convert him. (He is 6) But when Connor Chaplin (Towns number 10) lives next to the mother in law its hard to make an impact.

Seems to speak well and has a clear plan for Ipswich. When I listen to him in interviews I end up thinking that the vision he is describing should be what we are aiming for. Genuinely seems to care about the club he represents. (I live in Ipswich and my son is a Town fan)

Shame we don't have the Ipswich Town CEO - seems to be doing a decent job and is from West Bromwich I believe.

The changes also need to work more often than not - that makes it a smaller pool to fish from.

Very true. I guess I would be in the minority by always wanting to stick with a manager.  Bilic, Val and now Bruce I felt were/are close to getting things right consistently. Admittedly I base my assumptions on statistics which most people hate. Always try to be positive and generally think we are just a decent striker way from success. All top champ sides have one player who knows where the goal is. Feels like we haven’t had that for 3 years. But positivity doesn’t seem to go down well on here when things are not going well.

Yesterday we really needed a win .. why does he never change the formation?

Play 2 up top or do something different it’s like 10 minutes goes by 20, 30 then it’s full time when we’re chasing a game, created nothing, changed nothing.

Truly dreadful manager and the fact he doesn’t take fault, no honesty and the lies in the media makes me dislike him.

Sounds just like the previous manager as well. A bit a research to find a manager who adapts and changes if needed shouldn’t be too hard you would think.

I've read the same sack the manager bull on here for years, the club is in a mess but none of that is Steve Bruce's fault.
It's the fault of several previous managers and a clueless Chinese owner, so give SB time and we will improve, but I'm sure all the knowledgable people on here have a different opinion.

I would agree, maybe it’s naive of me to think and I expect to get a bit of negative reaction. I like to base my opinions of statistics, rightly or wrongly. After looking at the stat after the games last season and this, it would seem we are only a decent (fit) striker away from success. In over 75% of our games we have had more shots on target than the opposing team.

A different way of looking at this is does anybody think there is a European Pereira market at £250k a week which is the effective gross salary that is needed to match £130k a week in Saudi?

Plainly there isn't and that is what the players wage demands are if he is happy to go to Al-Hilal then there is very little point in any Premier League club making an enquiry the player is not interested.

If the player is prepared to sacrifice a year of his career to get the deal that he wants then our contract is pretty much worthless and this is the same for any player at any club. It is only not the case because if the player wants to stay in Europe and or play football at a decent level then "normal" market conditions prevail.

Pereira killed the Pereira market and in the final analysis the club was powerless to stop him.

Totally agree, well said.

You’d have to earn roughly 240k a week to take home that amount after tax here.

I understand his motives for going but this really is a poor transfer for him & the club. Complete waste of talent in a nothing league (who here had heard of Al Hilal before all this) and one that is at least 8m short. We should have just kept him if no offers of £25m would have come, he would eventually realised he needs to play to move so would have come back into the fold & he’d have been head & shoulders the best player in the league.

I have no idea what the club should do. Seems like everyone has very strong opinions on both sides of the argument.

I honestly don't have the foggiest notion what Harry Kane's wages are. What I do know is that Al Hilal's reported wage offer to Pereira is truly eye watering stuff.

Crazy money being offered to him so can understand his interest in the offer. No idea what the correct action should. Sell now and bank a profit reinvest. Or hold out and wait to see what happens with other offers coming in. I think it’s very easy for people to say he should lower wage demands when he has been offered an amount of money he will be very unlikely to get again.

The board may or may not be clueless. What is without doubt is that they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The Saudi wage offer has blown all sensible negotiations clean out of the water.

Am I right in thinking currently Harry Kane is not on £135,000 a week after tax?

Could be awkward if/when Adam Armstrong moves for more money in the same week.

I recon a lot of players will go for more money. But he won’t be paid £135,000 after tax

So, right up there in the top 6 of the best players I've ever seen in am Albion shirt being given away....and Villa pay 30m for Ings.....and M. City are paying 100m for Grealish. Really? Our board are clueless.

Is every club in Europe clueless for not buying Pereira or evening bidding for him. I find it strange that one has bothered to try to get him.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Well another reason to hate those dirty bugger blades, owner trying to knobble a rival for promotion.

Could they then loan him to the blades and still pay his new wages? 🧐

he turned up to training and has caused no problems from what I can see

I agree that’s what I have been hearing as well and I do think he is worth a lot more like you do. But could that change if he was denied his move and he misses out on those supposed wages?

plays for the team who pays his wages

What if he puts no effort in and then disrupts the dressing up?

Tough luck. Like Zaha and numerous others before him.

Fair point, but didn’t Zaha come through their academy and has played for them for a long time on an off and there for probably has more loyalty to the club. Compare that with Pereira who has no affinity for our club and has only need here two years.

What if he kicks up a fuss and then disrupts the dressing up?

well then spurs will probably sell Kane for a kit kat and a packet of crisps. Perreira was told he's going to be sold if bid came in for him and Ishmael was probably told not to include him in pre season to protect asset. Selling him for £17,5 million is a joke and only high lights the lack of funds at club.

And if a bid doesn’t come in and he doesn’t want to be here then what?

Who the hell is advising these morons and how the hell did Lai become an alleged billionaire?

I would imagine by making the correct deals at the right time and knowing when an investment is correct to get rid off. He has made a profit on him and got rid of another bad apple that could disrupt a dressing room and potentially jeopardise promotion, which in the long run going up will gain us more money than the sale of the player.

If it’s 17m it’s poor business for me.

If they can offer him 130-150k a week they can afford to pay at least £25m.

I can only imagine a huge selling on fee being part of the deal…but this is Albion.

JP would never have sold him cheaply he would have gotten top dollar for him.

Run by clowns if this price is true

And what if they didn’t pay £25? Keep a player who doesn’t want to be here?
