Not too disappointed. Gutted to lose obviously but we controlled that for large periods I felt. Completely different to last seasons shambles there .I don’t think we’re far away though. A clinical striker maybe and we’re definitely top 6 pushing for top 2. Bar Leicester I’ve seen nothing to worry about in this league even with our financial predicament I still fancy us most games we play it’s whether in January we have to sell many to keep afloat is the key for me. I thought Asante would offer something different but it failed to materialise. Can see why Carlos likes playing the false 9 after that. There’s not much option up there

Forgot to mention button was awful too. No confidence as a team if that’s behind you brutal but true. Was Crichtonesque at times scared me to deaf every time ball went near him

Really poor tonight. Derby and we rolled over they wasn’t even that much better than us we were just bullied from the start. Think we saw tonight we as a squad have been getting the maximum out of limited players lately fair play to Carlos 👏👏. Wallace is not a no 10 though we’ve done it for a few games now it’s not working been brilliant on the wing all season yet we’re trying to shoehorn him in the attacking midfield role. Dike was poor tonight to say the least sometimes we need to go with 2 up there I feel him and Asante would cause problems in some games together. That wasn’t maybe the problem tonight though in fairness. We were 2nd to everything and didn’t play at all like a derby really frustrating after being so good recently. Hoping it’s a one off and we get back to being a decent outfit 🤞

Just a quick mention to pieters. Been really consistent since cementing his self in the side this guy. Formed a really good partnership with O’Shea. Have to say wasn’t expecting too much on a free. Been more than pleasantly surprised especially since the new gaffa has been in charge. Calmer on the ball than I thought he would be too. Very decent signing. Along way to go to be half as good as McCauley but it’s been that type of signing not a lot expected but produced a fair bit so far.

Really poor signing in hindsight. The fee aswell was absurd(which I still think we may be paying with the instalments). I keep hoping he may have a decent game when called upon now and again but he disappoints time and time again. He’s not a striker or wide man I don’t think he knows what he is. Just a poor player. Not quite sure how he scored that amount of goals last season. This season though especially he looks way of it apart from the odd game early in the season. Him and Diangana have been a complete waste of money.

Said it at he the time of vals dismissal this squad is bang average. No matter who’s in charge. Val had done wonders to get this squad challenging for most of this season. Yes I agree it wasnt pretty and was boring and we were dropping like a stone but no manager is turning this particular squad around. How many managers of certain players in this squad outran it comes to a point where you have to think it’s the players rather than staff/management. Lack of investment and lack of a recruitment plan is also as much to blame though.all I think any baggies fan is after is a team that plays decent football and gives 100 per cent where possible. Not a massive ask I don’t think. This lot are awful to watch and lack passion in my opinion which is criminal

I thought we were solid throughout. No soft underbelly like we’ve had for years. Yes direct and in your face. But by god we work hard and hassle and Harry teams. Press well defend well, attack set pieces look a threat on those all the while.we were not pretty on the eye. But we are effective I’m not sure what some fans want tbh. We’ve got what seems like a very tight budget. And this manager seems to be getting every last drop out the players he has. I for one prefer us being a side nobody wants to play against than expansive and easy to get at. I thought we were terrific tonight in a tough game against a team who tried to stifle us. It’s all about opinions I suppose🤷🏻‍♂️

I really don't understand the criticism of Sam thought he was excellent today no chance with the goal made some excellent saves kept us in the game.
great point we would have been dead and buried without him today

Decent performance. Played some nice quick stuff. Need to be more clinical.  But believe we will bring a goalscorer in. New boys all did well. Especially. Filip and ajayi he's gunna be some plater that lad. All in all promising. And billic certainly seems to have them trying to play quick clever football. Noted the crowd on express and star site said 15000 never that many there

What a half🙈 he’s gotta change the formation and at leat two of the personnel at half time. He won’t though guarantee it. Barry and Livermore are so slow together and harper doesn’t work back it’s a dream midfield to play against

So many things telling me big Dave hasn't got a clue. Playing out from the back with defenders who can't pass. Keeps playing brunt centre mid who can't run let alone defend. Keeps picking mears. Same subs who don't make impact.cant change from back 3 when clearly not working.

Mears and Robson kanu to make all the difference 🙈😆. His subs are baffling at times

Brunt centre mid never has been never will be. Meats never good enough for this level at this stage of his career drop these two. We win the league quite simple really.

Dreading this think we're playing decent football at the moment despite looking very shaky at the back. Can see a McLean or saido goal if not both just our luck and there both rubbish at best. A convincing win would put us right on track hope the lads can do it

General Football & Sports / Re: Salomon Rondon

£16 million for Rondon is a relative steal being as i'd wager a good number of clubs would be willing to pay over £20 million for him.

Unless if something crazy happens and he has some bizarre desire to play in the championship he wont be here come August.

Will the club reinvest the £16 mill and buy two decent championship strikers for that money? Lets hope so but this is Albion after all.

(Ps the comments about Rondons goalscoring record are borderline laughable.
A) He's been playing in a mega defensive team
B) He's a target man not an out and out finisher
C) His goalscoring record is not even that bad anyway)
his record here is poor. Odemwingie wasn't in an all out attacking team and his record against rondon is better. And he wasn't always right up top like rondon is. The guys not that good imho. Rodriguez was more of a threat when he was up top on his own than rondon was last season. 16 mill is a great price if u ask me. I would have snatched the hands of with the offer from China. It didn't do us any better keeping him did it. We may aswell of let Evans go too. He was poor all season
