turned the best part of 200m into about 15m after loans paid off.

he's lost 185m of other peoples money, hope he likes being locked in small rooms and let out for an hour a day.

Wouldn't Rob Lake be under the parameters of any NDA that was in place ?

don't think he would as the foundation is technically separate to the club so not part of the sale in essence.

however the person that told him it was close probably was.

as for Goldberg i'd take what he says with a pinch of salt, someone who used to be in and around it from his WM days but is now just trying to make sure he's not forgotten and making whatever noise he can for attention.

there was an interesting study years ago on gumshields and what they actually do with regards to concussions. annoyingly i can't find it but the outcomes weren't as supportive of them in terms of stopping/slowing the symptoms.

would be interesting to see the data on this however, although with all things data you can use sample sizes to prove one thing and another sample to prove something else.

few things from yesterday:

BTA - had one of those games where every decision he made whether it be a run or a shot was the wrong decision. could see it was affecting him all game as well and the harder he tried the worse it got.
Fellows - wow, last year i thought this kid had no future with us going the same way as Edwards and Harper. happy to be very wrong here. best player for us on the day.
Marshall - looks a busy player, he will get a few goals just from causing problems
Majority of team - looked slow for 70 minutes, maybe that was the pressure and closing down from blues however who closed us down all game

Blues tactics - very un-Mowbray like if we are comparing the Mowbray who managed us. everything blues did yesterday was everything he used to moan about in the opposition when with us.

when diangana and ajayi comes back from afcon are we about to be in a position for the first time when Carlos will be able to have a bench full of options for the first time since he joined us.

I try not to go on twitter too much now but it's as if some fans don't realise the hole that we are in and how badly we need a takeover. I'm seeing people blast the club for not doing enough business in January and referencing other clubs, time to turn the phone off i think.

i think it's the same people who just shout 'score' or 'do a goal' at matches

With Morgan rogers going to villa,am I right in thinking we had a sell on clause?

we had a sell on clause when he went from Man City to Middlesbrough.

we have no sell on clause for his move to Villa

He was good, but if is he such a world beater why is our away record abysmal and he has often gone missing.

His wages are massive and we can no longer afford.

Try wobbling your head when we miss out on the po and have no new owner and yo £29k rumoured wages for another season.

If he is so great why didn't anybody buy him in the prem when we were relegated and why did a championship club get him when he was freed and available to any club in the world.

We paid him the most that's why.

I never said he didn't have great games, but not often enough to justify what we can now afford.

i'm not a tactical wizard far from it but i would say our away form is due to trying to play the same way away as we do at home.

for the game this past sunday our tactics were changed and we removed the number 10 (behind the striker) and replaced that with something of a hybrid sweeper/holding midfielder in Yokuslu.

maybe trying something like this away from home might work, however with our limp attack in front of goal removing the 10 would reduce the attacking threat but shore up the defence.

anything to do with what is or was the Birmingham Mail is pure clickbait now.
Chapman was doing an ok job, not like what we've had in previous but the role of Albion reporter no longer exists under Birmingham Mail/Live as of a few weeks ago.

Any article on that website will have more adverts than words.

The lad on the other Ipswich wing Omari Hutchison looked to be similar, amazingly talented but could have laid on a number of golden chances but chose to go himself. Bizarre game.

Hutchinson was the player from Chelsea we missed out on this time last year.

interestingly enough he's also been on Ipswich's bench a lot like Sarmiento was for us. Two good and talented players as individuals.

Deserved a lot of praise for his performance yesterday. Appeared to come in and out of a back three. There isn't a player in this league that uses their body to protect and shield the ball better than he does. Without him, we simply cannot play the way Corberan wants us too.

not only that but i watched him closely in the first half when he had the ball, when he has time the passes he makes for the rest of the team are perfect that they can take the ball in stride or in the direction momentum is taking them.
a lot of our passing this season has been either to feet which kills momentum of the attacking move or most times behind the player it's going to slowing us down even more.
a forward pass for a player to run on to gets us up the field quicker always has always will

well if he is involved in an attempt to buy the club or part of the club he's gone and broken the clauses in an NDA for sure.

i would say he's making noises because he isn't actually buying the club, trying to save face despite it already being too late for him.

the stewarding is one of the problems.
gone are the days of proper stewards, today we just have overweight old men or bits of kids as stewards.

watched the Ipswich game as nothing else was on, i think the post that Albion79 put up about Sarmiento and the project being himself and not the team shone through in this game.
great player with undoubted talent and skill, but needs to understand the other 10 on his team aren't there just to give him the ball when he wants it.

Smeth Dan is spot on from what i have been told, we were happy for him to go as to him it was the Sarmiento project.

Corberan is very much about the team, everythng is geared up to suit that, every player knows his job and what is expected to the finest detail, there is no organ grinder and monkey, he expects players to do both.

We were / are limited who we could get financially but had a good relationship with Brighton due to the Clarke and Molumby deals, they wanted him to get game time and play for a team instead of himself, we saw a very creative player who it was hoped could keep that creativity and be moulded into a team player.

However it became clear that after half a season that nothing was really going to change, he wasnt lazy but didnt fully buy into what CC wanted, he wanted to produce the odd bit of magic and be the hero, had he stayed he would of been very much an impact sub / odd start so a deal was agreed with Brighton to cut the loan short.

As for CC he is very clear what he expects, i was told when Mowatt first joined apparently he was a bit too over confident, he was (as of then) one of our best paid players and he was Ismaels main man, he wasnt disliked but rubbed people up the wrong way, but since he came back from Middlesboro he has grown up a lot.

CC told him what was expected preseason both on the pitch and in the dressing room if he wanted to play and Mowatt completely brought into it, he is now an important player and very popular with his team mates and a decent bloke.

Bartley was similar, apparently if he was having a bad day at training then everyone was made to suffer, CC picked up on it straight away and told him the same as he did Mowatt and again he is now influential for right reasons.

Diangana was more about work rate and desire, again told if he wanted to play he couldnt just do the fancy stuff, he brought into it and similar to Mowatt and Bartley is now a first team regular.

I know this isnt the Corberan thread but just giving examples from what i have been told as to why Sarmiento left early.

He is supposedly very intense (that comes across on matchdays!) but he isnt pally or overfriendly with the players, he is very demanding and so there can be no excuses or misunderstanding, Hefele and one of the other coaches are more the jokers and go between but basically you do it Carlos's way or you dont play!

and this is why CC is the most important asset this club currently has

« on: January 24, 2024, 08:55:55 AM »
The offer Luton made Alex Palmer would have earnt him more money per week than he is on with us this season in the premier league but if Luton were relegated he'd have been on less at Luton than he is with us.

the more i think about that and the rumoured money that Bartley is on i can't see this happening.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Kyle Bartley

i don't actually think Luton would offer him higher than what he is on with us currently.
What they can do however is offer him a longer deal than he currently has.

46

I don't think it's that but he will not be a good fit in the Phillips role.

The 'Matt Phillips position' is a nightmare to fill. We need someone past their best before date, who used to be good and now isn't so good but can still perform and can't run like they used to so their physical limitations help them out with the defensive side of things.

Trying to find somoene like that with little money is a big ask.

someone like Pipa

I couldn’t see the current Bulls owner because he’s getting on but wouldn’t be surprised to see his Son and likely successor want to join the bandwagon and buy a team at some point

also owns or owned the Chicago White Sox.

two very badly run franchises in both sports for many years.
