At least we can go into the new season with a bit more hope. Although Peace has done a fantastic job, its become apparent that he has lost interest and taken us as far as he can.

It remains to be seen as to whether the takeover works, but for now we can at least enjoy having a something to look forward to.

interesting times ahead.

If the new owner is trying to sell "Brand Albion" in China then he won't do it with Pulis' tactics.

I do think its only a matter of weeks before he goes.

To be honest I'm not sure it's ever been on. There's been nothing concrete from anywhere and the only fact seems to be that no one is really "in the know" about it.

To be fair Wales play with three at the back, so Chester is very comfortable in that. If Pulis insists on playing two centre halves who do you drop out of Evans and Macauley?

He does need playing at his correct position as , unlike Dawson, he looks poor at full back.

Thats funny but true. and then with gritted teeth will be forced like you say. their viewing figures like our must attendances suffer
I know, you can just imagine Sky and BT debating the fixtures, we will be like the poor kid who gets picked last for a team in PE at school.

Mind you, as a fan, I hate matches not being played on a Saturday afternoon, so playing boring, mindless football has its advantages.

Given our run in I'd be looking for safety by March. First 6 games give us a great platform for the rest of the season
I've learnt with Albion that nothing is ever easy and we tend to mess up when we not expected to. On paper, we should be in top ten after first six games, but realistically we'll probably only win a couple.

Alternatively, depending what mood the players are in, we will probably have a good run in.

Does anyone know when Sky  >:( and BT  >:( announce the games they want on TV.?
Think they'll avoid us like the plague till they are forced to show a game.

I do think that at the time he was bought, the club were a bit doubtful about Fosters recovery and timescale. Therefore it made sense to buy a senior goalkeeper.

The only thing that surprised me is that it was a two year deal where one would have made more sense.

Renewed. Don't know what else I'd do on a Saturday  :D

Now he's saying he is willing to keep Lambert next season.

I actually think he is on the wind up now. He's on his way out and he knows it.
In fairness Lambert still has a year left so he's hardly likely to slate him and say he wants him out.

Can't wait for the season to end, it's been probably the third drab season on the bounce, however I also can't wait for next season to start.

For the first time since Hodson/Ashworth were around we have employed a proper, experienced TD as opposed to "winging" it with Garlick, Burton etc. We also have the players that haven't worked out coming to the end of contracts etc, so will be moved on.

It is a vital summer transfer window, but I do have a bit more optimism this summer regardless of whether Pulis stays or not.

Those quality pacy attacking players cost money. We won't pay it. We could have had Antonio and Phillips but refused to pay the going rate. Transfer fees will go through the roof this summer and we'll be left behind.
I agree they cost money, although I'd point out that Leicester hardly spent a fortune, but wechave spent more year after year, it's just buying the right players, which is where Hammond comes in.

Let's see what happens before assuming the worst. Peace isn't an idiot and if things look like they're going pear shaped next season he will act.

Dear or dear. Some of the stuff written on here makes me think we have gone down. Everyone knows we need better forward players. I will reserve judgement till I see what we do over the summer. If pulis is not happy with the kitty he will get I'm sure he'll walk as I'm sure he knows he can't keep this bunch up again. I admit if we don't buy 4 or 5 quality players going foward it's going to be a long hard season next year. But let's wait and see
Exactly, I think it's common knowledge that the last few transfer windows have been dire, which is why Hammond has been brought in. I do believe we are only two or three players away from a decent team, we need quality, pacy attacking players who can deliver a decent cross. Rondon will be a different player with better service.

We should be relieved that we've stayed up with the squad we have, it's a massive summer but we are not as bad as we think.

Now mathematically safe. Well done TP and the players.
Considering the squad we have, it's a miracle we got to 41 points so yes, well done to all involved for grinding us to safety.

It hasn't been pretty but it's been effective, and with any luck we can push on next year.

Let's face it, the be all and end all this season was to stay in the greed league, and that has been done.

I honestly cant get my head round why he is so popular amongst our fans.

I think we have stayed up in spite of him rather than because of him.

Those that say we have a poor squad are wrong IMO.  We have premier league quality throughout the squad with Internationals a plenty and players who have won trophies.  We are capable of playing so much better with the players we have but they are being stifled by this dinosaur.

We may have a squad of internationals, but they are mainly playing for third rate countries so it's not exactly a gauge of quality. In my opinion we have a very average, slow and aging squad. We have created quite a bit lately but haven't the quality to convert them.

Pulis can be to blame for some of this, but mainly the squad we have is a result of some terrible transfer windows since the Ashworth days.

If Pulis (he will be here)/Hammond can improve what we have then we might just have more entertainment next season, heck even Rondon might look good, but if we have another poor window then relegation beckons.

We can blame Pulis forever and a day, but the fact is we are not good enough, especially going forward.

Chances have been created but we have so little quality we can't take them.

This squad has gone downhill since the Hodgson days due to very very poor transfer dealings and management.

Hopefully this will change going forward because we will go down next season if it doesn't.

General Football & Sports / Re: New technical director - Nick Hammond
« on: April 30, 2016, 11:58:16 AM »
The last time we had a proper, experienced technical director was when we had Dan Ashworth, which coincided with probably our most progressive period with some excellent transfers, although admittedly there were some turkeys in there.

We have tried to replace him and have failed, hopefully this will be different. He's been decent for Reading by all accounts so fingers crossed it will work out.

Pulis might get the hump, but after this season, does it really matter.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: James Morrison
« on: April 30, 2016, 09:19:14 AM »
Players come and players go, as long as they are replaced by better ones it won't really matter. I remember fans, including myself, being up in arms about losing Dorrans, Mulumbu etc.

Morrison is a very good player and has been missed this season, but, we have had 9 years off him, he's becoming inconsistent and injuries may catch up on him so if he wants a nice free transfer and pay day it's his choice. Albion should not pay over the odds just to keep players who may just want a change.

As for Sessegnon, a very good but very inconsistent player. I think in these last few, mindlessly boring seasons we are a little rose tinted in Sess. He is the one player who has the ability to beat players and do something for us to shout about, but, it would be interesting to see how many assists he actually has, runs down a few too many dark alleys for me to be honest.

I would like to keep both, but it's not really a disaster if they go.

Lambert looked a decent signing but like Lescott he was gone, Fletcher was the main reason we stayed up last season and is a great captain.
Exactly, hindsights wonderful. When we bought Lambert most people thought he'd be a decent buy, but who knew he'd turn out to be a waste of space.

Pulis can hardly be blamed for that one, as for Fletcher, most games he's one of the better players.

If Leicester win today, then might snatch a point, if Leicester lose or draw then it will be a tonking three or four nil.

I did think yesterday was our best chance of a win, so now I think we'll get 42 points and finish 16th.

I just want the clubs below us to run out of games because we certainly ain't helping ourselves.

I hate that type of comment. Its not all about staying up. Are Southampton, West Ham, Leicester, Stoke looking at surviving relegation as an achievement? - No.

We should be aiming for the same as what these teams deem as successful. We got the money now, we just need to hold ourselves in higher esteem. Appointments like Clarke, Mel, Irvine and now Pulis are unambitious. Although i will admit Pulis was a requirement at the time. We should be looking at higher calibre managers.
To be honest, a club like ours is all about staying up in the greed league. Those clubs you mention have all had a decent cash injection in the last few years so all harbour hopes of finishing higher.

Until we find another owner to put cash in, it will be all about staying up.

To be fair, this season in particular, it is all about fine margins, we are six behind Stoke, who are one of the more ambitious sides so if we'd have performed against Norwich and beat Watford we would be level.

Don't know what everyone's problem is.

I left the ground thoroughly hacked off with another mind numbing display, merely highlighting our lack of quality going forward, thinking we were depressingly 16th.

Got home, found out we'd actually gone up a place to 14th......oh happy days, can't wait for next season.

Boing boing.

I think we'll sneak up to about 44/45 points, prob finishing 13th.

If we put the effort in we might get more, but the team probably won't turn up in half the games left so I can't see us winning more than once. Saturday is prob our best bet combined with a couple of points against West Ham and Liverpool.
