LOL, you make me feel old the old stadium to me is Filbert St  :(
I remember Garth Crooks scoring an overhead kick to put us two up at Filbert Street in the late 80s. I was behind the goal in the home end and I completely forgot myself celebrating the goal. The people stood around us fortunately turned out to be Albion too!

The last baggie to get sent off was the manager …
I know I’m in the minority here but my levels of respect for BTA have gone up…That Scumbag Ballard could have finished Maja’s career…I wish more of our players actually gave out a bit more …I am really disappointed in 2 others today, Townsend was next to useless and allowed their bloke the freedom to score…Wallace went straight after Ballard to shake his hand at the whistle.

We will be in the playoffs but we need to make some changes, starting with reach in for Townsend .
It’s fine for us fans to think this way and to give Ballard as much stick as possible during the game. No way is it acceptable for players to behave like that. They show they care by getting three points which is what they are paid to try to do. Ballard will be laughing at some of our players today. He was on the winning team. Meanwhile we have lost valuable points and have a banned striker for our next match.

A general question regarding Johnston and  all our wingers  would they perform better with a Dike type player in the middle ? it can't be easy trying to pick out BTA amongst towering centre-backs.
I do hope that type of player is top of our wanted list come the summer.
We do seem to have quality out wide with Wallace, Johnson, Phillips and Fellows but yes it’s the centre where our weakness is. Dike and Maja have been desperately unlucky and BTA is no target man. I came away today feeling that it’s been a long time since we’ve had a good classic CF who is a hero to the fans. I long to see a Regis, Taylor or even Gayle again. That said, Johnson rarely crosses from the left - he always cuts inside to play the ball with his right foot.

Only Norwich with any real momentum in the top six atm no one can afford to coast the last few games so a decent squad to interchange is priceless.
Norwich also have the easiest run in to the playoffs. I can see them getting another 7 points which is likely to make them 5th. Our biggest threat for 6th is Hull but they have some tough matches.

I feel reaching the play offs would be an achievement for CC the top four all have superior squads and realistically I feel it will be one of those four.
As you say should that happen I feel CC is going to get a lot of uncalled for flak and that will be as depressing as missing out in the play-offs.
I would agree that Leeds, Leicester and Southampton have better squads but you have to say that McKenna has performed miracles in the last two seasons with a modest Ipswich set up. The difference is that he has had the support of the clubs owners. Hopefully CC will now get the same type of backing regardless of which league we are in next season.

Have we burnt out?
We looked fine until the sending off. After that they just contained us quite easily.

Agree with this. Instead of it being WBA vs Sunderland FC as it should have been, it seemed more like WBA FC players v Ballard. Very unprofessional.
I felt like I was watching a Sunday league pub team rather than a highly paid Championship team of professionals. Not good enough.

Very unprofessional today. Ok Ballard did for Maja at their place but to lose a game because players seemed to have a vendetta against was crazy. BTA getting sent off cost us and Wallace who should know better getting booked for a foul on the same player is just amateurish.

Definitely not paying £7.50 a pint down here, never been so sober :D
They’re charging as much at the Civic in Wolverhampton these days and you have to pay £1 on top for a plastic glass!

I hope Marshall doesn’t turn out to be another Gnabry who hardly had a kick with us but who is now starring for Bayern Munich
Good luck to him. He just wasn’t ready for the demands of the Championship.

If we don't make the playoffs then that is a massive failure for me. I am confident it won't come to that but let's see.
I think we will make the play offs but unless Lady Luck really smiles on us I don’t think we’ll have enough to win promotion. I’m sure we’ll all be disappointed should that happen but when the dust settles a playoff position is a real achievement given the situation we’ve been in whilst under Lai. CC has done tremendously well under the constraints. My biggest concern is whatever division we are in next season do we have the ability to find players which will fit CCs style of play and improve us.

I should hope so, they're absolutely terrible and have nothing to play for. I assume those wins weren't away either.
Relegated sides have a habit of playing with freedom and getting results.

Wallace scored our second but was anonymous for majority of game attacking wise we had no outlet on right wing that changed big time when Fellow’s came on for the couple of minutes.
I kept saying that during the match. We were playing very much on the left and seemed very narrow at times.

I still have a terrible feeling we are going to blow our chance of playoffs
I’m normally Mr Pessimist but I think we’ll finish 5th. I can’t see us getting beyond the semi-final though. Having said that I would still see this as a good season given where we were as a club at the end of last and start of this season.

Seem to be losing a bit of form and conceding goals...

Need a win against Rotherham now.
Yes, we desperately need a win. We just seem to be inviting too much pressure at points in games. It doesn’t help that we’ve had to play most of the season without a recognised striker. We just don’t really look dangerous going forward.

Kipre is back in, as is Diangana for Swift and Wallace for Fellows
That would be my team. Either Wallace or Fellows to start out wide swapping in the second half.

Watching how he set up Furlong for the late equaliser yesterday shows how good he can be. Playing inside the left wing is his natural position. His trickery with his left foot and the final pass with his right is something that few players do well.

I don’t think he works if we have out and out wingers because he’s not direct enough. With Johnston and Fellows out there Diangana seems better in the 10 role.
Totally agree. Diangana inside the wingers works better than an other combination we have.

Got to stick with him.  It's refreshing to see a player who gets the ball and runs at his man.  It won't always come off but it's something we miss on that side of the pitch.  Only so many times I can see the Townsend overlap, and smash the ball over the back post move.  Townsend must hit 1 decent cross for every 10-20 attempts.
It’s also difficult for our wingers without having a target in the middle to aim for.

And I know it's all unprovable, but Wallace is VERY tenacious in the tackle.  To think that we ONLY have BTA who could have created that chance is a bit odd.  And anyway, what's the point in BTA carving open a clear 1v1 if he's going to miss?  You wouldn't have to get Wallace to play 90 mins though, you give yourself options later in the game - swap him for BTA.  Take fellows off and move Wallace outwide?
What I mean is although I agree BTA is far from ideal he is currently our best option who is fit. Maja (fingers crossed) will change that. Don’t get me wrong, I rate Wallace highly but not at CF. I haven’t seen anything in his game to suggest he adds anything in the middle of attack.

I really don't think he does though.  If Wallace had that early chance I'd have given him better odds on scoring it.  To be fair, BTA had a decent header in the first half as well, would have been an amazing header if it had gone in.

Apart from his goal, he missed a header from 4 yards, should have scored\won a pen when clean through, and gave the ball away cheaply countless times.  I suppose that IS an impact in a way.

I want more from a player than 'works tirelessly'.  I'd rather have a combination of Wallace and Fellows, than BTA and Wallace.
I’ve seen nothing from Wallace to suggest he can play in that role. He doesn’t have the legs to run tirelessly for 90 minutes in the centre. He’s great out wide but seems anonymous in the centre for me. Wallace would not have had the instinct to make the chance that admitted BTA should have scored.

He scores the first one and it’s a different game
True and he should have. However, he also made that chance through sheer tenacity. We don’t have any other player currently fit who would even have got into that position.

Not celebrated a goal like that for a while!

Poor performance, not a great result but I’ll take it from where we were.

Wallace or Maja up front moving forward please. BTA is not up to starting, the goal aside he was absolutely terrible
Agree that BTA isn’t good enough at this level but he is still our only option unless Maja is fit. He worked tirelessly and had far more impact on the game than Wallace would at CF.

Very unalbion today. We were indisciplined for me against a side that played with the freedom of having nothing to lose. Still a great point especially when seeing the other results. If we are to have any chance in the playoffs we have to be more intelligent with our game management. Usually a strength but today just seemed like we lack our usual coolness both with and without the ball.

Another two assists today. Why does he get so much criticism? Should be one of the first names on the team sheet. The only player we have who can make a good decision in the final third.
His position is in the middle not out wide. He’s been getting better and better in recent games for me.
