Max Melbourne has returned to the club with immediate effect following his loan to Partick thistle. He played 5 games in total with 3 in the league.

Nick Clayton-Phillips joins Kiddie Harriers for rest of season
Adam Przybek joins Rushall Olympic till February
Kyle Jameson stays at Barrow for the season
Callum Morton stays at Braintree for the season

No mention of Firzwater returning to Walsall or loans for Leko, Field, Wilson or Harper.

Those deals will likely happen later in the year hunnington. If they don't, it will be awful future planning.

Kane Wilson has re joined Exeter until the end of season.

He played 20 times for Walsall but majority from the bench I guess we're hoping he's going to start more games for Exeter? O'Shea is a regular there so perhaps we're hoping Kane will also play more games.

Fitzwater still hasn't gone back to Walsall?

Wonder if we will manage to get Palmer out this window?

As Harper has leap frogged field, will sam go out?
O Albion we love you

Doesn't sound like he will be either.

..... Keates also revealed on Saturday that Jack Fitzwater will not rejoining the Saddlers on loan as expected.
And with just two centre-backs at the club, he knows he needs reinforcements as soon as possible.
........"They (Albion) decided not to send him (Fitzwater) back," Keates continued. "We will look to add a few more bodies this week. We won’t be hanging about'."

It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Due to family commitments, I went to watch Exeter on Boxing Day. O'Shea did reasonably well for a young lad - albeit at a much lower level. He won virtually all he went for in the air and, after a bit of a shaky start, looked comfortable with the ball at his feet - not that it stays there long at this level.

Surprised to see the Fitzwater news. Have had a look on the Walsall message boards and they are not surprised. Their defence are shipping goals and Fitzwater has gone from looking good last season, to very medicore this year.

At his age, the club probably feel it is a waste of time keeping him in a failing defensive system, and instead might look at a different loan option. Can't see much rationalle for keeping him here though as we already have 5 central defenders at our disposal, plus Howkins.

Maybe there was a deadline that we had to let Walsall know by. I have a feeling Dawson, Hegazi, and Holgate will be nowhere near getting risked in the cup (not even on bench) which leaves us with Toisin, Bartley and Howkins to cover RB and 2 CB slots. If we lose to Brighton, maybe Fitzwater will get a late loan.

I think the cup game against Brighton will determine what happens with Fitzwater.

If he plays any part in that game, that will mean he can potentially only go back out on loan to Walsall (or stay here).

If he doesn't play then his options are still open to move to another team. Maybe the club are having a look at him and seeing if they can find him a top 6 League one team or potentially a championship club...

Development wise it doesn't make sense for him to stay here, we are overstocked in the defensive positions and he would be lucky to get a few bench spots from now to the end of the season in my opinion.

Maybe the back 3 will be returning?

Maybe the back 3 will be returning?

I have wondered that, with us signing Holgate and rumours floating that we were still interested in another right back.

Even so, I still think we would be fairly covered:

RWB:
Holgate/Mears/Tosin

3 CB positions:
Dawson
Bartley
Hegazi
Tosin
Holgate

LWB:
Gibbs
Townsend

I would still say we are covered if we were to play a back 4 or a 3 at the back with two wing backs.

I would be letting him go out on loan. I would also be sending one of Edwards/Leko out on loan (potentially both if we replace Barnes).
Same with Field, if we do bring in another midfielder, I would be sending him out to get some game time as Barry, Morrison, Brunt, Harper, Livermore would all cover that position.

I would argue all three of those you have listed as RWB are not suitable for that position.

I don't think we have a RWB in the squad - Phillips is wasted there

Callum Morton had a good game for Braintree yesterday. 3 goals (2 penalties) and and assist as they beat Barnet 4-0

I would agree with you if we were in the Premier League but Holgate was far far better than I expected and could easily mirror Gibbs at this level imo.

Amongst the fun lately, our young international Finnish midfielder Alex Bradley has bumped up his loan level from National League to League One, joining Burton Albion for the rest of the season...

Zhang Yuning spotted in China, believed to be signing with Beijing Guoan on loan after his time with ADO Den Haag was a bust.

I didn't realise he'd ruptured an ankle ligament last September, nor that he's recently made several appearances from the ADO Den HAAG bench.

Can't wait for him to come back for his testimonial, maybe he could play an 11 captained by stalwart Bartosz Slusarski.
