General Football & Sports / Bad Owners
« on: February 28, 2024, 02:03:39 PM »
Just been reading a piece about the co-owner of Newcastle United, namely Amanda Staveley, who even from my poor memory has sailed close to the wind regarding money deals.
Well apparently she is about to be bankrupted for owing up to £35 million from a shipping magnate although she is attempting to get the matter put aside.
But should she become bankrupt (the club has already loaned her aprox £500k) to help pay for solicitors, how or are the powers that be affect her abilities running that club?
Can they be deducted points?
How was she a fit & proper person to own a football club because her debts were accumulated a few years years ago i think before she became a co owner? Would these powers that be be looking at this?
I wonder how many other owners are in difficulties atm and do these powers that be keep an eye on every cl owner or do they just forget about them once theyve passed their "test"?

West Bromwich Albion FC / A day in the life
« on: January 15, 2023, 04:05:10 PM »
Im wondering how life for our squad has actually changed physically, mentaly, diet etc along with with team bonding since CC and his team have transformed this never give up group.
I would be interested to hear if anyone actually knows a typical 24hrs prior to a game then game day then 24 hrs after the match
Exactly what do they do during those times anybody know
For instance ive seen myself thst the players turn up in there own cars, have they come straight from home, i dont think so, all out of interest

I've just come back from a trip to Iona via Mull then to Stirling and finally to Lieth just south of Edinburgh.
So I decided to take my wife to see the Royal Yatch Brittania, which is moored there.
How the other half lives eh?
Anyway, my point is and to my utter amazement in the Chief Petty Officers private office hanging in the corner is a Baggies scarf!
Imagine that, of all places, so I though it would provoke others to say where they've seen our memorabilia.

A great show tonight.
Did you notice the greatest honour when our truly great striker Cyrille was mentioned and pictured on Buckingham Palace, what an honour what a man
Nice one!

Hey guys, couldn't believe the match wasn't on 5live or talk carp tonight so I thought it's Christmas I'll treat myself to WBA live match radio
I was very impressed with it the main commentator was Jed? with AJ chipping in, I thought it was suitably biased with great main commentary with funny and knowledgeable interjection from AJ
We'll worth £2:50
God knows how we didn't win it by 2/3 goals, well I do know actually let's hope our Christmas pressie is a goalscorer eh?

West Bromwich Albion FC / THE ARTIST
« on: October 12, 2021, 02:26:23 PM »
I've just noticed on WBA website the little limited edition print of Bomber, Wile & Robertson, really nice
It got me thinking of that artist guy who followed us for a year and became a bsggi fan.
Can't recall his name, I wondered if anyone knows if he's been back to watch us or what he's up to these days, he was an interesting fella

West Bromwich Albion FC / A day in the life
« on: November 02, 2020, 12:52:38 PM »
I've often wondered what a day in the life of an Albion player is like on the morning or day of a game consists of.
If we are at home or away.
Just wondering

West Bromwich Albion FC / Boing Boing
« on: July 11, 2020, 11:51:02 AM »
I know it’s a little perverse to think this but...
I am fed up with Premier league this and that ,is it proper football as we know it?
I would be quite happy if we get promoted ,get the money then go back down into the real football world then go back up again and so on.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Fed up tv
« on: June 28, 2020, 11:05:08 PM »
Anybody else fed up watching football behind closed doors?
Its uninteresting and soulless without the crowds.
And the drone of the false croud turns me off completely I want this season to end asap its so boring I only watch a few minutes and that's enough, even radio commentaries are pathetic.
End it now with us promoted and villa relegated with their manager sacked.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Is 5 more wins enough?
« on: June 08, 2020, 09:37:00 AM »
Will 15 more points get us promotion?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Positional namrs
« on: April 06, 2020, 03:46:52 PM »
Talking about goalhangers, can anyone remember other names for the positions that players play?
eg. Sir bobby hope was called a schemer.

West Bromwich Albion FC / 100 years ago
« on: August 27, 2019, 06:46:46 PM »
I've just noticed that it is a century since we won the first division, season 1919 - 1920.
The only time we've won the top division.
One year after the end of the great war.
Makes you think doesn't it.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Ball boys
« on: February 16, 2019, 02:54:52 PM »
I forgot to mention this the other night against forest, where were the ball boys?
Many times when the ball went out the players from Albion were waiting for the crowd to throw it back?
What's up?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Balls
« on: January 28, 2019, 06:52:37 PM »
Here's a topical one for the geeks among us.
How many Albion players have pulled their balls out of the bag?
Talking about the FA cup draw of course.
Ho would you find that out?
Anyway the question is out there now.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Points targets
« on: August 20, 2018, 12:11:21 PM »
What points targets must we get to by quarter, half, three quarters and end of season.
I don't know how many points wolves got and the runners up got to get promotion just interested to look after say 12 matches etc.
I know its not very scientific but.
I'm hoping for first or second no playoffs.
Just need that right back and were ready.

20
West Bromwich Albion FC / Team age
« on: July 24, 2018, 09:17:44 AM »
Just wondering, that Dave has been trying to reduce the squad age from one of the oldest ( I know in the prem ) ,which was necessary, what our average team age could be in the championship, one of the youngest?

General Football & Sports / Religion in football
« on: June 24, 2018, 04:53:23 PM »
I wonder what you guys think about it.
What I'm talking about is how often players seem to be crossing themselves, praying etc.
Some do it coming onto the field, after scoring or after the game.
Surely this can be done in private.
I'm not keen on seeing it myself.
Keep religion and politics out of football.

22
West Bromwich Albion FC / Motty
« on: May 19, 2018, 09:13:48 PM »
Just watching the show on BBC2 noticed him and his son talking in I assume his bar at home, hanging on the wall  is a framed green and yellow baggies shirt, top man.

23
West Bromwich Albion FC / New kit
« on: April 14, 2018, 11:22:58 PM »
Have I missed it?
Didn't someone mention were having a new kitmaker for next season and the new kit would be out soon or was I dreaming?

24
West Bromwich Albion FC / Motty's final commentary
« on: March 13, 2018, 04:19:38 PM »
Just saying, its the great man's final game.
Crystal Palace v WBA.
Could be exciting or boring.
We could both be down by then. Or one of us going down or both fighting to stay up. Or both staying up by then oh I don't know.
Will Pardew be boo'd off the pitch by both sets of fans or what?

25
West Bromwich Albion FC / Do we have to sell?
« on: February 26, 2018, 08:38:33 PM »
If we are relegated,do we have to sell any of our squad?
Regardless of what we think of them at the moment, even if they want a transfer, can we say no you will stay here and get us bank up into the premier league.
