Don't forget he managed to get himself a promotion too despite his track record.

If SP knows what he's doing he'll make significant changes to the way we operate in this department.

If he offered to play for free next season I’d still release him. Time to move on and ditch the old guard.

Assuming we don’t go up I’d be quite happy for us take a step back and try to rebuild. We do need to rid ourselves of the out of contract players and try and invest in youth. It might painful for a year or two but it needs to be done. I have my doubts as to whether CC is the right man to take this on.

We’ve been much worse since we’ve had close to a full squad to chose from. When down to the bare bones CC couldn’t tinker as much and we seemed more settled. I don’t think he knows his best side and continues to select out of form players.

I've never been a big fan personally. He did a great job turning us around last season but his approach is far too negative. The football is boring to watch and few players have improved under him. 6 away wins in 23 this season is a very poor return. Things may have been different with a decent striker available so I'll cut him some slack for that.

If I was Shilen Patel I'd be looking at a major overhaul starting by getting rid of all of the out of contract players (Kipre aside) and giving Ian Pearce his P45.

Good performance but poor finishing a lot of back luck, poor defending and a dreadful ref has done us. Our form is not good heading into the play offs.

It’s not just the forwards that are the issue. There never seems to be anyone in the box or any late runners into the box. We put balls into the box on Wednesday and today and we were totally outnumbered. We need to be more positive.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Atmosphere at Home Games
« on: April 11, 2024, 09:20:05 AM »
I think our style of play doesn’t help the atmosphere, yes it’s a results business but how many games this season can you say you’ve been out of your seats with the football we play ,last night for example Rotherham rock bottom no away wins instead of going for the we were quite happy just passing it side wards and backwards !felt like a training game

I have to agree and it was one of the main reasons why I didn't renew this season. I find us boring to watch. It's at walking pace at the back most of the time. I appreciate that these are the tactics and we are getting results but I'd also like to be entertained too.

I've always had my suspicions about the MP deal. In the light of this comment, it reaffirms the fact that selling for 18m made absolutely zero sense

Me too. The fact that he'd just had a great season in the Prem and at a time where Buendia and Benrahama (similar records and age) went for far more money. He was worth way more. Either something dodgy has gone on or the people running our club are complete idiots.

We desperately need to offload everyone (bar Kipre) who is out of contract at the end of the season to reduce the wage bill. Hopefully we will see an overhaul of the recruitment department too so we can find those gems that we used to.

I have to question what we do in training. The players look like they’ve only just met. Very slow and lethargic. We have no plan B either.

A very strange signing IMO. Zero first team experience so was never going to hit the ground running. I just hope that we are not paying for him. I wonder had Cleary been fit would we have given him a chance instead?

Palmer is a decent keeper IMO. Yes there have been a few goals that he should have done better with, Saturdays for example, but the same can be said for most keepers. He has a much greater presence than SJ ever had and you can see that in the way our defiance has improved since him coming into the side.

Players out of contract in the summer. Who do we keep?

Regardless of division or whether they are willing to re-sign on reduced terms I'd be looking to keep Kipre and potentially Mowett. Cann I don't know enough about but the rest need to go for me.

I do suspect that we'll offer deals to Bartley, Phillips and Reach.

Mowatt

Kipre

Reach

Phillips

Bartley

Chalobah

Pieters

Kelly

Cann

M'Vila

A great pedigree but the fact that he's not played this season is worrying. I don't expect we'll see much of him unless he's kept himself in top condition.

After missing out on the play offs by a whisker last season it amazes me why people thought that we'd struggle this season. I expected a top 10 finish, play-offs at a push which is where we are. Corberan is doing a fine job but I don't believe that he's the only manager that could get a tune out of us.

Results not really gone for us today. Unless our away form improves I fear we will slip out of the top 6.

I thought Keiffer Moore played well on Saturday, he certainly occupied our centre halves, did make Ipswich a bit one dimensional though. There is a case for big strapping forwards, but not if that becomes the be all and end all (a la Pulis)

He's exactly the type of forward we need IMO. The ball just doesn't stick with BTA up top.

I thought we made Ipswich look very poor when we beat them. Can’t see beyond a home win though today given our away form.

Do we not have a youngster that can ‘cover’?

I think his hold up play needs a lot of improvement and for a big guy he gets outmuscled too easily. Get balls into the box though and he will score goals. Here’s hoping for an injury free run.

I think the signs are good, clearly the youth department is doing a very good job of finding and nurturing young talented individuals. If we can just get the club ownership sorted and some strategy in place to actually use it to our own advantage then it could be a very fruitful avenue in the coming seasons.

For me it's all about having a coach brave enough to throw them into the side. Fellows for example looks a real talent but he won't start again unless Wallace is unavailable IMO.
